Look it up on Wowhead

How to get it

Dropped every time by Pathrunner, a rare elite talbuk in Shadowmoon Valley on Draenor. He appears at one of six spots, 2 to 8 hours after his body last vanished, and everyone who takes part in the kill gets the mount, up to 40 players at once.

Time there about 10 min a visit

Before you go

  • Pathrunner being up. If he is at none of the six spots he was killed not long ago: he comes back 2 to 8 hours after his body vanished, at any of the six · about 3 h

In all: about 3 h of play, starting from nothing.

Getting there

Pathrunner, Shadowmoon Valley (6 spots: 44.6, 43.8; 39.6, 36.6; 43.0, 32.2; 54.0, 30.4; 56.2, 52.4 south of the Burial Fields; 45.8, 68.2)
Shadowmoon Valley · 44.6, 43.8
/way Shadowmoon Valley 44.6 43.8
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 2.3 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Ashran*
  2. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 2.6 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Ashran*
  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

The drop from Pathrunner is counted as certain: Wowhead's recorded loot, as of 2026, has the mount in 3,883 of his 3,885 loots, its tooltip says 99.95%, and both the wiki and Wowhead's guide call it a 100% drop.

The six spots are those of Wowhead's guide. Wowhead's tooltip pins for the creature (NPC 50883) cluster on the same six:

  • 38.6-39.6, 35.0-37.0
  • 42.4-43.2, 30.8-32.6
  • 44.2-44.6, 43.2-43.8
  • 45.8-46.2, 67.4-67.8
  • 53.2-53.8, 30.2-31.0
  • 56.2-56.8, 52.0-52.6

The place given above is the one in the middle; the time on the spot counts a round of all six. He walks back and forth close to where he appears (2014 comment), and only one Pathrunner is up on a realm at a time.

Unlike Draenor's other zones, Shadowmoon Valley does not unload when it stands empty, so his timer is never reset that way (Wowhead's guide) and waiting in the zone does not hurry him. The much-repeated older figure of 5 to 16 hours is a 2015 comment, called out of date by one of 2024.

Comments of 2021 and 2022 found him quickly after switching War Mode on and off, or with Chromie Time on (presumably another copy of the zone); a 2023 reply met him at level 70 with neither. The NPC Time addon shows how long a creature has been alive. No lockout is mentioned anywhere, and the mount is learned once, so it does not matter.

He was level 100 when new and is level 40 on Wowhead now (98,140 health); for a levelling character his health follows the character's level (comments of 2021: about 10,000 at level 19, 45,100 at level 39). The mount binds when picked up.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
