How to get it

Sold by Magister Langley, the Stormshield Quartermaster in Stormshield, for 5,000 gold and 100 Marks of Honor to an Alliance character who is Exalted with Wrynn's Vanguard. That reputation is only earned inside the Ashran battleground.

Before you go

  • Exalted with Wrynn's Vanguard (42,000 from Neutral), earned inside the Ashran battleground. What pays today is the trophy of a slain Horde player: use Remove Insignia on the body within about ten seconds, and hand the trophy in at the Alliance base before the match ends, for 2,500 to 3,750 reputation each. The enemy leader's death (2,500), won events (500 to 750, only in the Classic Ashran brawl) and Artifact Fragments (5 each) are the other sources players name · about 6 h
  • 100 Marks of Honor (rewards from battlegrounds and most other PvP; Honor quartermasters also sell 5 for 2,000 Honor) · about 10 h
  • 5,000 gold

In all: about 16 h of play, 5,000 gold, starting from nothing.

Notes and sources

The journal is out of date twice over. Its vendor, Crafticus Mindbender, was replaced in patch 9.1.5 by Magister Langley and Tomas Riogain (wiki). Its second cost, 5,000 of an unnamed currency, is the old price in Apexis Crystals: since Ashran came back as an epic battleground the mount costs 100 Marks of Honor (2019 Wowhead comment; Wowhead's sold-by data; wiki).

Wowhead lists three sellers:

  • Magister Langley in Stormshield: 5,000 gold and 100 Marks
  • Holly McTilla in Stormshield: 5,000 gold and 100 Marks
  • Tomas Riogain in Ashran, whom the wiki puts at the Alliance base inside the battleground: 4,000 gold and 100 Marks

The wiki says Langley and Riogain give Stormwind's reputation discount on the gold, 4,000 at Exalted with Stormwind, which would explain the lower figure; a 2022 comment found two vendors side by side at 5,000 and 4,000. The wiki's own pages for Tomas Riogain and for the faction still show Apexis Crystals, and a 2026 comment asks which is right.

The coordinates are Wowhead's map pins for Magister Langley on the Stormshield map (54.4-55.6, 17.4-18.6); the wiki has 54.8, 17.1. Stormshield has a portal to Stormwind City (wiki); the way there was not looked up further.

Only an Alliance character can buy it; once learned the mount serves characters of both factions (wiki, comments). The Horde's counterpart on the same terms is the Breezestrider Stallion. Marks of Honor bind to the Warband since patch 11.0.2 (wiki), so another character's will do.

The reputation is the uncertain part, and the reports do not agree:

  • a player who began from nothing in 2026 got no reputation for a win or for the enemy general's death, only for trophies (3,750 each, about one body in ten giving one), and says the Classic Ashran brawl no longer exists
  • another 2026 comment says matches of the epic battleground now often end in 90 seconds, before anything can be looted, and advises waiting for the Classic Ashran brawl, which by that comment comes round about every three months and never ends
  • a 2025 comment calls the brawl the fastest way and credits a leader kill only to players standing on the middle road

Trophies kept past the end of a match are lost (comments of 2020 and 2026). They stopped dropping with patch 9.1.5 and were back by patch 10.1 (comments of 2022 and 2023); Blizzard's support article on it could not be read. The wiki has a quest for one such trophy, Orc Tooth, at 2,500 reputation.

Wowhead's Ultimate Guide to Ashran (a player's guide, updated 2024) is the current description of the battleground: it says the side events only run in the brawl, that the trophies are handed in at the base, and that simply playing brings Exalted in time; it gives no amounts. Wowhead's own Ashran Reputations Guide dates from 2014 (as noted for the Breezestrider Stallion) and is not linked. wow.gg's guide (2026) gives the same sources with 2,500 a trophy but prices the mount in 'Honor Points' and misspells the vendor.

The item asks for level 17 and binds when picked up (wiki).

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
