Rare find in the Invader's Forgotten Treasure, the bag paid once a week for a Gold rating (1,000 points) in a Garrison Invasion. To call an invasion, buy a Scouting Missive from the garrison quartermaster, do its quest out in Draenor and hand it in; the quartermaster then offers the invasion, which is fought inside the garrison. A Platinum rating (1,300 points) adds a second weekly bag, the Routed Invader's Crate of Spoils, with a smaller chance of its own.
Chance 4.09% once a week, so about 24 tries on average — Wowhead: 1,604 mounts in 39,200 opened Invader's Forgotten Treasures (the bag's contents list, read 2026-10-11; pooled since 2014). The Platinum crate, Routed Invader's Crate of Spoils: 656 in 80,636 opened (0.81%). Both in one week: 1 - (1 - 0.0409) x (1 - 0.0081) = 4.87%
Time there about 15 min a visit
Before you go
- Draenor garrison founded and raised to tier 3 (the last upgrade costs 2,000 Garrison Resources and 5,000 gold) · about 4 h
- For each attempt, one Scouting Missive (200 Garrison Resources from the quartermaster) and its quest: a few minutes of kills at the place the missive names · about 0.25 h
In all: about 4.3 h of play, 5,000 gold, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Shadowmoon Valley 29.6 16 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Ashran*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way Frostfire Ridge 47.9 65.9 - Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Ashran*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
About 24 Gold bags are expected at 4.09%, one a week on each character; with the Platinum crate as well, about 21 weeks. Once a week is confirmed by a 2024 comment.
Of the four invasion mounts this is the commonest in the Gold bag and nearly the rarest in the Platinum crate. In the same 39,200 Gold bags the others come to Smoky Direwolf 1,055, Giant Coldsnout 871 and Shadowhide Pearltusk 826. In 80,636 crates:
- Shadowhide Pearltusk: 1,079
- Smoky Direwolf: 808
- this one: 656
- Giant Coldsnout: 599
The notes for the Shadowhide Pearltusk and the Giant Coldsnout do not have the crate's count. Wowhead's tooltip for the mount item carries no drop chance; the figures are from the two bags' pages.
The wiki also names six garrison bosses as sources (Annihilon, Commander Dro'gan, Gaur, Lady Fleshsear, Mage Lord Gogg'nathog, Teluur), each called with an item an invasion may leave behind.
Score marks (Wowhead's guide, written for patch 6.1 and last updated 2018): 300 Bronze, 600 Silver, 1,000 Gold, 1,300 Platinum. Points come from kills, saved townsfolk, killed spies, buildings and defenders kept standing, and the final boss; a rating also pays the lower bags not yet earned that week.
Which invasion to run:
- comments on both bags' pages (2021) say the Iron Horde invasions from The Pit missives score badly since the 9.0 level squish and recommend the Shadow Council ones from the Shattrath Harbor and Heart of Shattrath missives
- a 2025 reply says that still holds in patch 11.2.0 and reaches 1,300 points
- a Horde comment of 2022 prefers the Magnarok missive
The guide has invasions come from kills in the Apexis daily areas and does not mention Scouting Missives. The missive route, the place given above and the two requirements are those of the Shadowhide Pearltusk and the Giant Coldsnout, which share this source, and the coordinates are the quartermasters' spots as worked out there.
Up to three players can fight an invasion together (Wowhead's guide), and a 2021 comment has a low-level helper paid all four bags. The time on the spot is the same estimate as for those two mounts: the guide gives a hold-out of about 8 minutes between an opening assault and a final boss.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
