How to get it

Sold as the Bloodfang Cocoon by The Mad Merchant for 2,000,000 gold. He is only sometimes there: he appears at random on a bean bag in the Wonderworks toy shop in Dalaran above the Broken Isles, on every realm of a region at once, and leaves again after an hour.

Time there about 2 min a visit

Guide wow.gg: Bloodfang Widow

Before you go

  • 2,000,000 gold
  • The Mad Merchant being there: he comes at random, always on the hour, for one hour, in the whole region at once. A look into the Wonderworks at each full hour catches him, and so does a callout from other players · 7 days

In all: spread over 7 days, 2,000,000 gold, starting from nothing.

  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Azsuna*
  2. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 1.6 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Azsuna*
  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

The price and the place are firm. Wowhead's vendor list has the Bloodfang Cocoon at 2,000,000 gold beside his Celestial Calf (1,000,000), Madman's Luggage (500,000) and Prismatic Bauble (250,000), and its recorded points for him are 43.2, 46.6 in Dalaran, the wiki's coordinates. It is the Legion Dalaran over the Broken Isles, not the Northrend one (comments of 2022 and 2024). Whether a reputation discount applies to his prices was not looked up.

When he comes is not published. The wiki: 'He is on a random spawn timer, but will spawn region-wide for an hour at a time at the top of the hour for the whole hour.' Wowhead comments agree on the hour (2017: 'always on the hour (but not every whole hour)', gone after one hour whether or not anyone buys; 2020 and 2022 the same) and on the region (2024, rated 51: no use checking other realms or characters). A 2022 comment has him sighted at 12:46, outside the first quarter of an hour, which fits a one-hour stay.

How often is where they differ:

  • the top comment (2016, before release): 'as short as 4 hours, and as long as a few days', and a stay of one to two hours after a purchase, which wow.gg's guide (updated 2026) repeats
  • a 2017 comment saw him twice in one day and again two days later
  • a 2018 comment worked out every 6 or 7 days
  • campers waited four days (2017, 2022), two days (2021) and two weeks without a sighting (2025)

Sightings were posted three times in 2026, so he still comes. The seven days counted in the requirements are a waiting time, not play time.

How players catch him: the WoW Secret Finding & Collections Discord has a callout role for him (2022 comment, rated 103; a 2025 reply says the roles moved to 'Channels & Roles'). Older comments say he sometimes yells on arriving and that Dalaran's music changes to circus music while he is there (2016), though a 2022 comment saw neither.

The guide linked is wow.gg's, the only one found that is written for this mount; its timing figures are the 2016 ones and it does not mention the full hour.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
