Rare drop from Archimonde, the thirteenth and last boss of Hellfire Citadel in Tanaan Jungle, on Mythic difficulty only. The raid's two skip quests from Archmage Khadgar, Well of Souls (four kills of Gorefiend) and then The Fel Spire (four of Mannoroth), open a portal at the entrance to the top of the citadel, which leaves Mannoroth and Archimonde.
Chance 3.52% once a week, so about 28 tries on average — Wowhead: 2,243 mounts in 63,714 recorded loots of Archimonde (tooltip and item page, read 2026-10-11). That count is pooled over every difficulty; on Mythic alone, the only one where it drops, Wowhead has the same 2,243 in 29,965 loots (7.49%). Both reach back to when the raid was current and the mount dropped every time (wow.gg; a Wowhead comment of 2015 expected as much), so today's chance is lower: Blizzard never published it, players reckon about 1%, and Wowhead's client data for 1-16 July 2025, during Collector's Bounty with its announced +5%, showed 5.28% (margin 1.02%) on Mythic. wow.gg's 'approximately 3-4%' names no source and matches Wowhead's pooled figure

Getting there
/way Tanaan Jungle 45.2 53.8 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Ashran*
- Fly the rest of the way
- Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Ashran*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
One try a week per character, on Mythic only; a GM's answer quoted in a 2015 Wowhead comment says a bonus roll cannot give it. The wiki lists no achievement needed to enter on Mythic.
About 28 kills would be expected at 3.52% and 100 at 1%; the recorded figure should be read with the caveat given with the drop. Reported kill counts on Wowhead: the first, the 4th and the 8th kill (2021-2026), the 32nd during Collector's Bounty (2025), and one player with none in what he reckons hundreds of kills since 2016 (2022). The wiki notes that the mount also turns up on the Black Market since patch 8.2.5, which is not a way of earning it.
The 30 minutes are for a clear of all thirteen bosses (wow.gg, updated 2026: roughly 20-30 minutes at level 80, 5-7 with the skips). Without the skips the other twelve bosses stand before him; whether all of them have to be killed, and in what order, the wiki does not say. The wings (wiki):
- Hellbreach: Hellfire Assault, Iron Reaver, Kormrok
- Halls of Blood: Hellfire High Council, Kilrogg Deadeye, Gorefiend
- Bastion of Shadows: Shadow-Lord Iskar, Socrethar the Eternal, Tyrant Velhari
- Destructor's Rise: Fel Lord Zakuun, Xhul'horac, Mannoroth
- The Black Gate: Archimonde
The skips (wiki): Archmage Khadgar's Well of Souls asks for four kills of Gorefiend, the sixth boss, after which a portal at the entrance leads to him (wow.gg: past the first six bosses). Then The Fel Spire asks for 4 Fel Essences, one from Mannoroth a kill, after which a second portal leads to the top of the citadel, to Mannoroth. Each takes four weekly kills on one character.
The wiki says finishing the quest on a higher difficulty opens the skip on the lower ones, and that finished skips are shared across the warband though the quests are done per character. wow.gg says the skips are unlocked separately for each difficulty and does not say they are shared. A 2025 Wowhead comment says every character of the account had the skip after one had done the quest, and one of 2022 describes opening the portal for another character through a group; the same comment warns of Mannoroth's knockback.
The entrance is from the game's own table; wow.gg has it at 45.6, 53.5. The wiki's quickest way in is the portal to Lion's Watch or Vol'mar from Stormshield or Warspear in Ashran, which exists only once Tanaan Jungle's opening quests are done; wow.gg's way in by air, from the Ashran portal, names no quest.
The item binds when picked up and asks for level 40 on the wiki (level 10 in Wowhead's data).
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
