How to get it

Reward (the item Defiled Reins) of the achievement Glory of the Legion Raider: sixteen boss achievements in the first two Legion raids, seven in The Emerald Nightmare and nine in The Nighthold, each on Normal difficulty or higher.

Inside The Emerald Nightmare and The Nighthold, a raid (Normal or higher)

Time there about 2 h 30 min a visit

Guide Wowhead: Glory of the Legion Raider

Before you go

  • Three kills of Spellblade Aluriel for A Change In Scenery, one in each of three places (the Shal'dorei Terrace, the Shattered Walkway and Astromancer's Rise): she has to be brought there within 120 seconds of the pull and killed there · about 0.75 h over 2 weeks
  • An Infinite Whelpling battle pet summoned during the Grand Magistrix Elisande fight (Infinitesimal): it is led into the overlap of a fast bubble and a slow bubble left by her two kinds of elemental, turns on its owner as an Infinite Drakeling, and is killed before she is. The pet is caught wild in the Caverns of Time
  • A Demon Hunter for I Attack the Darkness (Xavius): a Creature in the Dark has to be killed in each of the fight's three phases, and Wowhead's guide says they walk the edge of the room unseen, show only in Spectral Sight and have to be pulled by running into them. Progress is account-wide, so this one can be earned on a Demon Hunter of one's own

In all: about 0.8 h of play, spread over 2 weeks, starting from nothing.

Getting there

The Nighthold entrance, Suramar (nine of the sixteen; The Emerald Nightmare's entrance is in Val'sharah at 56.3, 36.7)
Suramar · 44.2, 59.5
/way Suramar 44.2 59.5
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 1.8 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Azsuna*
  2. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 1.8 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Azsuna*
  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

The meta-achievement needs sixteen achievements, not seventeen. All sixteen read 'on Normal difficulty or higher' (wiki), so Raid Finder does not count. The achievement and its progress are account-wide (Wowhead), and the item binds when picked up (Wowhead tooltip).

The place given above is The Nighthold because most of the work is there; both raid entrances are from the game's own entrance data. The time on site is an estimate for one pass through both raids, seventeen bosses, doing each achievement on the way; the two further kills of Spellblade Aluriel are counted among the requirements.

The Emerald Nightmare, by boss, in the wiki's wording:

  • Nythendra, Buggy Fight: 15 Glow Bugs squished
  • Elerethe Renferal, Webbing Crashers: all her Pulsing Egg Sacs destroyed (seven, by Wowhead's guide, some reachable only with the Shimmering Feather or a glide)
  • Il'gynoth, Took the Red Eye Down: 20 Nightmare Explosions on the Eye within 10 seconds (20 Nightmare Ichors gathered under it and killed together)
  • Ursoc, Scare Bear: Tur Ragepaw, clicked behind the last trash before the room, kept alive
  • Dragons of Nightmare, Imagined Dragons World Tour: every raid member takes the Dream Essence from all four portals around the room before Ysondre dies
  • Cenarius, Use the Force(s): each of the four Forces of Nightmare left uncleansed; the wiki reads it as one kill with none cleansed, Wowhead's guide as a credit per corner that can be gathered over several kills
  • Xavius, I Attack the Darkness

The Nighthold:

  • Skorpyron, Cage Rematch: nobody leaves the centre rings
  • Chronomatic Anomaly, Grand Opening: eight spotlights lit by players standing on the floor circles as their Time Bomb goes off (twelve until a hotfix of May 2017)
  • Trilliax, Gluten Free: no more than 20 Toxic Slices eaten
  • Spellblade Aluriel, A Change In Scenery
  • Star Augur Etraeus, Elementalry!: the Nether Elemental from beside his hallway brought into the fight and killed once its name has become Well-Traveled Nether Elemental, at 30% of the boss's health
  • Tichondrius, Not For You: no damage taken from Echoes of the Void (stand behind the pillars)
  • Krosus, Burning Bridges: 15 Burning Embers left alive to fall into the water when he breaks the bridge
  • Grand Magistrix Elisande, Infinitesimal
  • Gul'dan, I've Got My Eyes On You: 16 Eyes of Gul'dan killed within 3 seconds; they copy themselves at their current health, and below 55% of his health he stops summoning them in threes

Fruit of All Evil (High Botanist Tel'arn, every raid member under Arcane Exposure) is no longer among them. The wiki's page for the meta-achievement still lists it and says it takes at least ten players, but Wowhead's criteria list, as read in 2026, has sixteen without it, and a 2022 Wowhead comment (rated +55) says it was taken out of the Glory in patch 9.2. If the game still counted it, a group would be needed: a 2019 comment has the ten-player minimum still in force in patch 8.1, and one of 2024 earned it with two.

On group size: Wowhead's guide was written for raids of 2017 and 2018 (it speaks of tanks, healers and splitting the raid), so its advice on numbers is of then; only its mechanics are used here, and it describes none of the sixteen as taking several players by its own mechanics.

An undated Icy Veins news post, written after The War Within came out, summarises a video guide: group-only mechanics such as Fruit of All Evil's ten players are gone, 'an extra low-level alt may be needed for one achievement' (it does not say which), and it recommends a Hunter, Warlock or Demon Hunter. The video itself was not watched.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
