Look it up on WowheadHow to get it
Demon hunters only. It is Illidan's gift in the class's opening story on Mardum: during Enter the Illidari: Ashtongue, the second quest a new demon hunter is given (by Kayn Sunfury, after The Invasion Begins), the Felsaber appears beside the Legion gateway and is learned by interacting with it.
Before you go
- A demon hunter character. A new night elf or blood elf demon hunter starts on Mardum at level 8 and reaches the mount in its first two quests · about 0.2 h
In all: about 0.2 h of play, starting from nothing.
Getting there
There is nowhere to travel for this one.
Notes and sources
The journal says only 'Class: Demon Hunter'. No place is given because there is nowhere to travel: only a newly made demon hunter is on Mardum, and one that has left it already has the mount (as for the Acherus Deathcharger). The mount is the demon hunter's alone: learning it on one does not put it in reach of the account's other characters (2016 Wowhead comment).
The quest is 40378, started by Kayn Sunfury and ended at Allari the Souleater (wiki). Its tooltip on Wowhead reads 'Summon in your Ashtongue forces by activating the Legion Gateway' with the steps 'See Felsaber' and 'Accept Illidan's gift', and a 2015 Wowhead comment calls it the second quest of the start. Demon hunters have begun at level 8 since patch 9.0.1; they began at 98 before (wiki).
Not established: how a void elf demon hunter comes by the mount. The wiki says void elves can be demon hunters since patch 12.0.0, after the quest Trial of Wrath, and that they begin in Telogrus Rift instead of Mardum; no source read says whether they are simply given the Felsaber, as allied-race death knights are given their charger. Nor was it found whether making a demon hunter still asks anything of the account.
The mount has no item, so Wowhead has no item tooltip for it; the comments read are those on its spell page (200175).
