Mastercraft Gravewing

Rare drop from the Stygian Stonecrusher, the rare that ends the event No Stoneborn Left Behind at the Vault of Secrets in the south-west of Korthia. A Venthyr character talks to Drippy, who hides with Nandor and Kashaa behind a pillar beside the Broken Gatecrasher, and guards the three against waves of Mawsworn while they repair the stoneborn; when the repair reaches 100% the Stonecrusher appears. A Venthyr who loots it may find a Gravewing Crystal; the crystal starts a quest of the same name, handed to the Stonewright at Keeper's Respite (62.0, 24.8), who gives the mount.

Chance 1.73% once a day, so about 58 tries on average — Wowhead: 728 Gravewing Crystals in 42,191 recorded loots of the Stygian Stonecrusher (page read 2026-10-11; its tooltip for the crystal says 1.73%). The count is over every looter and only Venthyr characters can get the crystal, so a Venthyr's own chance is higher; by how much is not known

Guide Wowhead: Shadowlands Korthia and Desmotaeron Rares and Treasures

• Korthia opened: the first two chapters of the Chains of Domination campaign · about 2.5 h

In all: about 2.5 h of play, starting from nothing.

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

What drops is the Gravewing Crystal (item 187283), not the mount: it starts the quest Gravewing Crystal (64530, needs level 60), whose reward is the Mastercraft Gravewing (wiki, Wowhead).

Only a Venthyr can start the event: the crew tells anyone else 'Scram, Maw Walker.' (wiki). Others can join the kill and take the rest of the loot, but only a Venthyr gets the crystal (Wowhead comments of 2021); a 2022 reply says being Venthyr is the only condition, whatever the renown or the progress in Korthia. The loot is once a day for each character (hidden quest 64313, wiki).

Places: Wowhead's tooltip puts Drippy at 46.4-46.6, 79.4-79.6 and the Stonecrusher between 45.4, 78.2 and 46.0, 80.6; the wiki gives 45.7, 80.0 for the rare and Wowhead's guide 46.6, 79.6. The Stonewright's place is the pin on the map of Wowhead's page for the quest (62, 24.8, Keeper's Respite); the wiki's page for her lists only Revendreth. There is no flying in Korthia.

The event is announced by Drippy's yell 'For Sinfall!' (Wowhead's guide) and comes back quickly: 13 minutes from one kill to Drippy standing there again in 2023, and 'respawn very commonly' in 2021; in the first days of the patch several players found nobody to talk to. The waves can be skipped: with no player near the Broken Gatecrasher, for instance at the first pile of rubble straight across from it, no Mawsworn come and the Stonecrusher still appears (2021 comment).

The event is not bound to the character that starts it: a 2022 commenter started it on a Venthyr and took the kill on a second character for the achievement Conquering Korthia, of which the rare is a part.

How many kills to expect cannot be worked out from Wowhead's figure, because it counts every looter: taken as it stands, 1.73% is about 58 daily kills. Commenters report the crystal on the 3rd kill (2021), after 91 (2022) and not after 10 (2021).

The guide linked (updated 2021) is a table of Korthia's rares with a few lines on each, not a walk-through. The mount came with patch 9.1 (wiki); this guide lists it under Legion because its id is an old one.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
