Reward of the achievement Underbelly Tycoon: loot 20,000 Sightless Eyes in the Underbelly, the sewers beneath Dalaran above the Broken Isles. Progress counts for the whole account, and it counts eyes looted, not eyes held: no more than 5,000 can be carried, so they are spent along the way. Guard Captain Raethan at the entrance switches the sewer guards on or off for 50 eyes. With the guards on duty, rare creatures appear every few minutes and drop 60 to 90 eyes each, or about 180 to 210 when a Wild Mana Wand (175 eyes) is used on one first; with the guards off, chests of 10, 40 and 100 eyes appear and players can attack each other. The mount comes with the achievement.
Time there about 1 h a visit
Before you go
- 20,000 Sightless Eyes looted in the Underbelly, on any characters of the account: rares with the guards on duty (60-90 each, 180-210 with a Wild Mana Wand), the Blind Rat pet battle (75), fishing the green Swirling Whorl pools in the sewer (5-10 a cast), creatures summoned with the Widowsister, Imp-Binding and other contracts (1-10 each), chests while the guards are away, and the quest Experimental Potion: Test Subjects Needed (150). Eyes got by exchanging other things do not count · about 8 h
In all: about 8 h of play, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Dalaran 68.4 58.4 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Azsuna*
- Fly to the portal from Dalaran to the Heart of Azeroth
- Ride the rest of the way
- Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Azsuna*
- Fly to the portal from Dalaran to the Heart of Azeroth
- Ride the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
The place given above is Raethan, the Underbelly Guard Captain (npc 97359), at 68.4-68.6, 57.0-59.6 on the Underbelly floor of Dalaran by Wowhead's tooltip. Those are coordinates on the Underbelly's map, not on the city map above; the game's map tables have no Underbelly map on the Broken Isles, so the place is given on the Dalaran map and is only roughly right there. Where the stairs down are on the city map was not found; the wiki names a north-west and a south-east way down without coordinates. Flying is not possible inside.
Progress is account-wide: Wowhead's tooltip for the achievement (11066, as read in 2026) says 'Account-wide progress', and the wiki dates that to patch 11.0.0 (July 2024); a 2017 reply saying it was per character is out of date. The cap is 5,000 and the total looted is what counts: the wiki's currency page, Wowhead's best-rated guide comment (2016, +212), WoW Professions and the forum post agree. The same sources say eyes got by trading in other currencies do not count.
How it runs (WoW Professions; Wowhead comments): entering the Underbelly shows either Sewer Guards or No Guards by the minimap. With the guards on duty nobody is flagged, and the rares, marked with a star on the map, appear one after another, usually within one to five minutes. With No Guards everyone outside one's own party can be attacked, chests appear (10, 40 and 100 eyes; a round is put at 250 or more by comments of 2018 and 2022) and no rares come; a 2026 reply confirms the flagging rule.
Raethan takes 50 eyes to switch, with a five-minute wait before it can be switched again. He also sells a bodyguard for 5 gold that keeps a player from being attacked for five minutes but also from opening the chests; his landing is always a sanctuary (wiki).
Rares sometimes stop coming; comments of 2022 and 2024 say to switch the guards off and on again, or to leave the sewer and come back. Several comments (2018, 2024) recommend quiet realms and hours, because the rares are shared.
The Wild Mana Wand costs 175 eyes from Dazzik 'Proudmoore' and is used on a rare above 90% health. It makes the rare three times as tough and raises what it drops to 180-210 (WoW Professions; a 2025 comment says the same, one of 2018 170-230), so each wand only just pays for itself, but every eye looted counts.
Other sources of eyes:
- the fishing pools by the Black Market area of the sewer (WoW Professions, comments), where Fel Chum, bought with eyes, brings more of them (2024 comment)
- the pet battle: Blind Rats give 75, the turtles nothing
- the potion quest from Fizzi Liverzapper in the Underbelly; WoW Professions says it appears at random rather than on a timer, a 2025 comment calls it a daily
- killing other players: 15 to 50 eyes each and nothing in a raid group (2016 comment, WoW Professions); one source among several and not required
The time on site stands for one sitting of the farm, not for the whole of it. A 2026 comment says the mount now goes straight into the collection instead of arriving by mail from Raethan; one of 2023 reports reaching 20,000 without getting it, which nothing else read repeats.
Guides: Wowhead has no guide of its own for this; its Legion Mount Collector's Guide (last modified 2019) gives the mount one line, so it is not linked. WoW Professions' page carries no date. The wiki's pages for the achievement, the currency and the Underbelly are thin (no amounts).
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
