Reward of the world quest DANGER: Kosumoth the Hungering, which is to kill Kosumoth in the open-world Eye of Azshara, south of Azsuna. Kosumoth drops nothing himself: the quest hands over either the Fathom Dweller or the Hungering Claw pet, whichever it lists at the time, and that changes every two weeks for the whole region. The quest and the boss only exist for a character that has done the secret: talk Drak'thul on the Broken Shore out of things to say, bring him the Weathered Relic from Feldust Cavern, then click ten hidden Hungering Orbs across the Broken Isles in a fixed order.
Chance Not a drop in the usual sense: when the world quest lists the mount, completing it gives the mount for certain. What is unknown is how often a two-week period has the mount rather than the pet; no source read gives a rate. The wiki calls the choice random with the mount much rarer; Warcraft Secrets says it can take roughly six months to show up. The quest changes every two weeks; this field has no such value and weekly is used

Before you go
- The secret, on the character that will do the kill (it is not shared across the account): speak with Drak'thul on the Broken Shore (37.4, 71.6) until he sends you away, loot the Weathered Relic from the mound of dirt at the back of Feldust Cavern (58, 53), speak with him again until he sends you away again, then click the ten Hungering Orbs in order: Azsuna 38.0, 37.4; Stormheim 32.9, 75.9; Val'sharah 41.5, 81.2; under water off the Broken Shore 29.2, 78.6; Azsuna 59.4, 13.1; under water north of Shield's Rest (Broken Isles map 67.4, 14.7); Highmountain 55.8, 38.5; Azsuna 54.0, 26.2; under a shipwreck in the Eye of Azshara 79.5, 89.3; and last the one on Drak'thul's table. Water breathing helps for the fourth and ninth · about 0.75 h
- The world quest showing the Fathom Dweller as its reward: it changes at every second weekly reset between the mount and the pet, and the mount has stayed away for months at a time. The reward can be read off the quest on the map before going
In all: about 0.8 h of play, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Eye of Azshara 47 50.1 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Azsuna*
- Fly the rest of the way
- Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Azsuna*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Kosumoth's place: Wowhead's guide gives a waypoint of 46.96, 50.09 on the game's map 713, the dungeon-style Eye of Azshara map; Wowhead's tooltip has him between 45.2 and 47.8, 47.0 and 50.8, and the wiki at 46.7, 49.4. On the continent's own Eye of Azshara map the same spot would be about 48.0, 50.1 if the two maps share world coordinates, which was not checked. A 2025 comment found the boss took a little while to appear after the quest came up.
A macro in the comments shows which orbs are done (quests 43730 to 43737, 43760 and 43761). For the fourth orb Warcraft Secrets gives 33.0, 74.6 for the orb itself and Wowhead 29.2, 78.6 for its cave mouth.
How often the mount is the reward is the open question. Wowhead's guide (modified 2025) says only that the quest resets every other week and gives one or the other, the same for every character in a region; game masters told players in 2021 it is random. The quest gives the pet on the other periods, so a character can do it every two weeks until the mount shows. One 2025 comment had the mount while a guildmate had the pet, so the reward may not always be the same for everyone.
Players' reports on Wowhead: from mid 2020 to early 2021 the pet came up for more than eight resets running on US realms, and Wowhead ran a news post in January 2021 when the mount appeared on EU. After that the mount is reported up on:
- 6 April 2021, 25 January, 17 May and 28 June 2022 (US)
- 23 February 2022 and 25 July 2024 (EU)
- 30 October 2024 (US)
- April and May 2025
During Legion Remix (late 2025 to January 2026) Hemet Nesingwary XVII also sold the mount for Bronze to attuned characters, and several players there got the mount from the quest straight after the tenth orb; that event is over.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
