A saddle is earned in rated PvP while a season is running: wins at 1,000 rating (Combatant) or more fill the Season Rewards bar; the first full bar of a season gives that season's own vicious mount, and every further full bar in the same season gives a Vicious Saddle.

Notes and sources
The journal's 'Cost: 1' is one Vicious Saddle. The wiki (2026) has the mount on sale: its page for the vendor lists the Vicious War Elekk in his stock at 1 Vicious Saddle, one of 25 mounts he sells for a saddle, and its page for the mount names Necrolord Sipe in Stormwind City and marks it Alliance only. Coordinates are the wiki's for Necrolord Sipe, the same as for his other mounts in this guide.
The saddle binds when picked up and asks for level 35 (wiki), and the vendor is an Alliance one, so the bar has to be filled on an Alliance character. The mount itself binds to the Warband (Wowhead tooltip, wiki), so once learned the whole account has it.
Saddles can only be earned while a rated PvP season is running: the wiki's page for Midnight Season 2 (edited 2026) gives its start as 18 August 2026 and its end as ongoing; that season's own mount is the Vicious Lightbloom Boar. The wiki's wording for the saddle: one each time the Rated PvP progress bar is filled to 100% after the current seasonal mount has been earned, and since patch 8.0.1 a character can earn several in a season. wow.gg adds that earning saddles outside a season asks for 1,400 rating reached in the season before; the wiki does not say so, and this was not checked further.
The guide gives no win count for Solo Shuffle or Battleground Blitz, and the points a win pays this season were not found; the bar on the Rated tab of the PvP window shows the progress. The guide linked is written for the Vicious War Ram and does not name the Elekk, but the way to a saddle and the vendor are the same.
The mount was added in patch 7.0.3 (Legion), has been learned account-wide since patch 7.2.0 and asks for level 17 and Apprentice Riding (wiki); which season it was first given for is not on the wiki's page and was not looked up. The Horde's vendor for saddles is Deathguard Netharian in the Valley of Strength, Orgrimmar (wiki); his stock was not read for this mount.
