How to get it

Reward of the paladin quest Stirring in the Shadows, the last of six quests that Champion Cyssa Dawnrose starts at Deliverance Point on the Broken Shore with Worthy of the Title. Lord Grayson Shadowbreaker in the Sanctum of Light, the paladin class hall, has a barding made (a leatherworker's Stonehide Leather Barding, plated by the blacksmith Alard Schmied in Dalaran with 25 Leystone Ore and a Suramarian Sapphire) and then leads a scenario in Stratholme, where the charger of Lord Rivendare is won back and purified.

Before you go

  • Paladin class hall campaign on this character, through to its last champion (Nerus Moonfang, recruited by a chain that Lady Liadrin starts in the Sanctum of Light once Champions of Legionfall is picked up from Maiev Shadowsong at Deliverance Point), with mission-table waits · about 5 h over 2 days
  • Breaching the Tomb, once per account (the Legionfall campaign on the Broken Shore) · about 8 h over 1 days
  • Suramar's story as far as the quest Masquerade on this paladin, and the Ancient Mana limit raised from 300 to at least 500: the Suramarian Sapphire costs 500 Ancient Mana at a Sundries Merchant in Suramar City, who only deals with a character wearing the Masquerade disguise · about 3 h
  • The materials: a Stonehide Leather Barding (a leatherworker's craft, 50 Stonehide Leather at Legion skill 700) and 25 Leystone Ore (mined on the Broken Isles). A paladin without those professions gets them from another character or player · about 1 h
  • The six quests: Worthy of the Title (from Cyssa Dawnrose to Lord Grayson Shadowbreaker in the Sanctum of Light), Preparations Underway (the barding), The Hammer of Dalaran (to Alard Schmied in the Tanks for Everything shop in Dalaran), A Few Things First (the ore and the sapphire), Leather to Legendary (the Plated Barding back to Grayson), Stirring in the Shadows (speak with Defender Sterius at the Eastwall Gate, northwest of Light's Hope Chapel, for the Stratholme scenario) · about 1.5 h

In all: about 18.5 h of play, spread over 2 days, starting from nothing.

Getting there

Champion Cyssa Dawnrose, Deliverance Point (start of the chain)
Broken Shore · 43.8, 63.1
/way Broken Shore 43.8 63.1
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 2.1 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Azsuna*
  2. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 2.1 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Azsuna*
  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

Paladins only, of any race; all six quests ask for level 45 (wiki). The quest gives Glowing Reins of the Golden Charger (item 143502), which binds when picked up (wiki, Wowhead tooltip); once learned the mount is there for every paladin on the account (a 2017 Wowhead comment rode it on a level 20 paladin).

The place given above is where the chain is picked up, as for the other class mounts. The wiki has Cyssa Dawnrose at 43.8, 63.1 on the quest's page and 43.8, 63.0 on her own; a 2019 Wowhead comment places her beside the tree with some blood knights. No Wowhead tooltip was read for her (the wiki links no id). Lord Grayson Shadowbreaker stands at 52.3, 78.1 in the Sanctum of Light (wiki).

The chain (wiki): Worthy of the Title follows Strike Them Down, the last Legionfall quest, and the six quests run one after another. Two errands outside the class hall take the time.

The sapphire: 500 Ancient Mana at a Sundries Merchant in the Evermoon Bazaar of Suramar City (about 49.9, 77.4, Warcraft Tavern), who by the wiki cannot be dealt with before Masquerade. Warcraft Tavern says it has to be bought on the paladin itself and calls it 'easily the most time-consuming step', and a 2023 Wowhead comment says the same of the Suramar campaign. The Ancient Mana limit starts at 300 and is raised by items and quests in Suramar (wiki, as given for the Highlord's Vigilant Charger).

The materials: the wiki's quest pages say the barding comes 'from a leatherworker' and that both it and the ore may be got from other players. The barding takes 50 Stonehide Leather (wiki; a 2017 comment quoted for the Highlord's Vigilant Charger says 25).

In the scenario (wiki, Wowhead's preview):

  • choose two paladins as allies
  • collect six Stratholme Holy Water
  • free three captured paladins and defeat Rotmouth, Osseine and Pestulon
  • return to Grayson at Elders' Square and imbue the barding
  • ride to Rivendare's crypt in Slaughter Square and defeat Raemien the Soultaker

The wiki lists the interrupts and cleanses worth using. Warcraft Tavern notes that the game may warn of being outside the timeline on the way to the Eastwall Gate, which is in the Eastern Plaguelands.

Requirements: Wowhead's guide (updated 2025, as read in 2026) asks for the Broken Shore unlocked, 'all the steps of Breaching the Tomb', and the class hall campaign with its last follower for Champions of Legionfall. Players' comments on that guide since patch 9.1.5 (2021 to 2024) say an alt needs only its class hall campaign, the Broken Shore introduction and Champions of Legionfall, with Breaching the Tomb done once on the account; one of 2024 says it is not needed at all for the first mount. This was not tested, so the account-wide reading used for the other class mounts is kept.

A hotfix of 7 November 2025 mended the chain for Legion Remix paladins (wiki, as given for the Highlord's Vigilant Charger). The class hall, Legionfall and Suramar times were not measured for a paladin. Three more colours follow from this mount, the Highlord's Vigilant Charger among them, all from Crusader Lord Dalfors in the class hall for 1,000 Order Resources each.

Guides: Wowhead's guide gives the requirements for every class but only two lines on the paladin; its walkthrough of the paladin quests is a preview written from the 7.2 test realm in 2017. Warcraft Tavern's guide was written for Legion Remix (where the barding and the ore are skipped) but walks through the same quests, the last champion's chain and the sapphire among them.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
