How to get it

Sold as Harsh Reins of the Vengeful Charger by Crusader Lord Dalfors in the Sanctum of Light, the paladin class hall beneath Light's Hope Chapel, for 1,000 Order Resources. He offers it to a paladin who already has the Highlord's Golden Charger, the class mount from the quest Stirring in the Shadows.

Before you go

  • The Highlord's Golden Charger first: the paladin class hall campaign, Breaching the Tomb once per account, Suramar's story as far as Masquerade, then the six quests that Champion Cyssa Dawnrose starts at Deliverance Point on the Broken Shore (43.8, 63.1), from Worthy of the Title through a Stonehide Leather Barding, 25 Leystone Ore and a Suramarian Sapphire to Stirring in the Shadows, a scenario in Stratholme · about 18.5 h over 3 days
  • 1,000 Order Resources (Legion class hall currency: looted from mobs and treasure chests on the Broken Isles and paid by class campaign quests) · about 0.5 h

In all: about 19 h of play, spread over 3 days, starting from nothing.

Notes and sources

Paladins only. Sold by Crusader Lord Dalfors (npc 99976) for 1,000 Order Resources (currency 1220); the journal gives the vendor but no cost. Wowhead's sold-by list (read in 2026) has him as the only seller, and the wiki (edited 2025) and Wowhead's guide (updated 2025) agree. The item asks for level 45 (wiki) and Apprentice Riding (Wowhead's tooltip).

He sells the Highlord's Vigilant Charger and the Highlord's Valorous Charger on the same terms, 1,000 Order Resources each, so the three together are 3,000. How fast Order Resources come in today was not measured.

This was the Retribution colour. Until patch 8.0.1 the item asked for every trait of the Ashbringer (wiki), and the first buyers had to be in that specialization. A 2018 Wowhead comment says it can simply be bought once the quest chain is done, and a 2021 reply that all the colours can be bought in any specialization.

What the first mount, the Highlord's Golden Charger, takes is on its own page. Its two errands that cost time are the Suramarian Sapphire (500 Ancient Mana at a Sundries Merchant in Suramar City, who only deals with a character in the Masquerade disguise, and the mana limit starts at 300) and the barding and ore, which may come from another character or player. Since patch 9.1.5 Breaching the Tomb on one character of the account is enough, but each character still finishes its own class hall campaign (the wiki's patch notes).

Dalfors stands in the Sanctum of Light, which lies under Light's Hope Chapel in the Eastern Plaguelands and has a portal to Dalaran (wiki); how a paladin gets in from Dalaran was not looked up. The coordinates are the middle of Wowhead's tooltip positions for him on the Sanctum of Light map (51.4-52.4, 73.4-76.8), as read for the Highlord's Vigilant Charger and not read again; the game's map table calls that map Light's Hope Chapel, the zone name used here. A 2017 comment places him beside the mission table.

Guides: Wowhead's guide gives the requirements for every class but not the quests themselves. Warcraft Tavern's guide walks through the quests for the first charger and ends by saying the three other variants can then be bought from Dalfors, whom it places near the Scouting Map; it gives no price.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
