How to get it

Reward of the warlock quest The Wrathsteed of Xoroth, the last of seven quests that Elithys Firestorm starts at Deliverance Point on the Broken Shore with Bloodbringer's Missive. Mor'zul Bloodbringer in the Dreadscar Rift, the warlock class hall, asks for portal materials, a fel core from a Legion Assault and owlbeast blood, then for a calling stone from the cultists of the Dark Stockades, and opens a portal to Xoroth on the Summoning Platform, where the fel knight Arax'ath is fought and his wrathsteed enslaved.

Before you go

  • Warlock class hall campaign on this character, through to its last champion (Kanrethad Ebonlocke, recruited by a chain that Shinfel Blightsworn starts in the Dreadscar Rift once Champions of Legionfall is picked up from Maiev Shadowsong at Deliverance Point), with mission-table waits · about 5 h over 2 days
  • Breaching the Tomb, once per account (the Legionfall campaign on the Broken Shore) · about 8 h over 1 days
  • If You Build It: 5 Felslate, 3 Chaotic Spinel and an Unbending Potion handed to Mor'zul Bloodbringer. Felslate is mined on the Broken Isles, the spinels come from a jewelcrafter prospecting Felslate or Leystone Ore, the potion from an alchemist: three professions, so some of it comes from another character or player · about 1 h
  • Fel to the Core: an Overcharged Fel Core from the commander of a Legion Assault on the Broken Isles. An assault has to be running (18-hour cycle: up for 5 and a half hours, then away for 12 and a half) and its quests are done through to the commander's ship · about 1 h over 1 days
  • The other five quests: Bloodbringer's Missive (from Elithys Firestorm to Mor'zul Bloodbringer in the Dreadscar Rift); Give Me Fuel, Give Me Fire (50 Owlbeast Blood from the owlbeasts of Lostlight Grotto in Val'sharah); The Minions of Hel'nurath (the Succubus's Seduction used on a Xorothian Cultist in the Dark Stockades on the Broken Shore); The Dreadlord's Calling (the Xorothian Calling Stone from Zuriwa the Hexxer in her tower there); The Wrathsteed of Xoroth (the scenario on the Summoning Platform) · about 1.5 h

In all: about 16.5 h of play, spread over 2 days, starting from nothing.

Getting there

Elithys Firestorm, Deliverance Point (start of the chain)
Broken Shore · 43.8, 63.2
/way Broken Shore 43.8 63.2
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 2.1 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Azsuna*
  2. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 2.1 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Azsuna*
  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

Warlocks only; all seven quests ask for level 45 (wiki). No item teaches this mount: the quest casts it on the character, which is why no item is listed. Once earned it is there for every warlock on the account (a 2017 Wowhead comment).

The chain (wiki):

  • Bloodbringer's Missive, which follows Strike Them Down, the last Legionfall quest
  • If You Build It, Fel to the Core and Give Me Fuel, Give Me Fire, given together
  • The Minions of Hel'nurath
  • The Dreadlord's Calling
  • The Wrathsteed of Xoroth

Give Me Fuel, Give Me Fire is one quest; the requirements for the Netherlord's Brimstone Wrathsteed count it as two.

The materials are the part that takes planning: the wiki's page for If You Build It says they 'can be gathered and crafted using profession skills' or bought from other players. Wowhead's 2017 preview gives the same amounts; it expected them to be reduced, and they were not.

Legion Assaults: the wiki gives the 18-hour cycle, the zone's assault quest (Assault on Azsuna, Val'sharah, Highmountain or Stormheim) and its commanders (Xeritas, Dread Vizier Gra'tork, Fel Commander Erixtol, Lord Commander Alexius). Warcraft Tavern says 'you may have to wait a few hours for one to begin', and a 2022 Wowhead comment says Wowhead shows the times and the world map the place.

In the scenario (wiki, Warcraft Tavern):

  • place the calling stone when Mor'zul gives the sign
  • strip the ritualists' fel shield with a Felhunter's Devour Magic
  • switch to a tanking demon for the fel knights
  • once Arax'ath is down, enslave the wrathsteed (Subjugate Demon)

What has to be done first: Wowhead's guide (updated 2025, read in 2026) asks for the Broken Shore unlocked, 'all the steps of Breaching the Tomb', and the class hall campaign with its last follower for Champions of Legionfall. Players' comments on that guide since patch 9.1.5 (2021 to 2024) say an alt needs only its class hall campaign, the Broken Shore introduction and Champions of Legionfall, with Breaching the Tomb done once on the account; one of 2024 says it is not needed at all for the first mount. This was not tested, so the reading used for the other class mounts is kept: Breaching the Tomb once on the account is enough.

Where: Wowhead's tooltip for Elithys Firestorm at Deliverance Point (npc 117622) and the wiki both have 43.8, 63.2; that is where the chain is picked up, as for the other class mounts. Mor'zul Bloodbringer stands at 36.0, 37.8 in the Dreadscar Rift (wiki). The rest of the chain is in the class hall, Val'sharah, the assault zone and the Dark Stockades north of Deliverance Point. The class hall and Legionfall times were not measured for a warlock.

Two more colours follow from this mount: the Netherlord's Brimstone Wrathsteed from Calydus in the class hall, and the Netherlord's Accursed Wrathsteed from Lord Hel'nurath on the Broken Shore.

Guides: Wowhead's guide gives the requirements for every class but only two lines on the warlock; its walkthrough of the warlock quests is a preview written from the 7.2 test realm in 2017 under the mount's working name. Warcraft Tavern's guide was written for Legion Remix (where If You Build It is skipped) but walks through the same quests, the last champion's chain among them.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
