Leywoven Flying Carpet

Chance item in the Nightfallen Cache, the paragon cache of The Nightfallen. Once Exalted, every further 10,000 reputation opens the quest Supplies From the Nightfallen at First Arcanist Thalyssra in Shal'Aran in Suramar, which hands over one cache.

Chance 2.58% per try, so about 39 tries on average — Wowhead: 1,892 carpets in 73,265 recorded Nightfallen Caches (item 146900, read 2026-10-11). The count is pooled over all years; Wowhead comments of December 2021 and August 2022 suspect the chance was raised since Legion (one player had four paragon mounts from four caches, another the carpet from a first cache after nearly 100 without), so the current chance may be higher. wow.gg says 'approximately 3-10%' without a source

Guides Wowhead: Nightfallen Reputation Guide · wow.gg: Leywoven Flying Carpet

• Exalted with The Nightfallen: the Suramar story from level 45 (Nightfallen But Not Forgotten, the main line of Good Suramaritan, then Insurrection), then Suramar world quests (50-75 as a rule, 150 for a rare one, 250 for an elite, 300 for a dungeon), the Nightfallen emissary (1,500), Withered Army Training in Shal'Aran every three days and the three daily feedings there (75 each for 50 Ancient Mana) · about 9 h over 3 days
• 10,000 Nightfallen reputation past Exalted for each cache, from the same world quests, emissary, Withered Army Training and feedings · about 4 h over 12 days

In all: about 13 h of play, spread over 12 days, starting from nothing.

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

One roll per cache, and each cache costs another 10,000 reputation, so there is no lockout, only the time to refill the bar; about 39 caches are expected at 2.58%. Single reports on Wowhead run from a first cache to 50 and nearly 100.

The wiki: the carpet 'can rarely be looted from' the Nightfallen Cache. The quest Supplies From the Nightfallen is 'immediately available to turn in to First Arcanist Thalyssra' in Shal'Aran each time the bar fills; it asks for level 45 and also gives a Vial of Diluted Nightwell Liquid. The cache also holds gold, Order Resources and often a Curious Coin (Wowhead's guide). The coordinates are Wowhead's tooltip position for Thalyssra, the same as for the Arcanist's Manasaber and the Llothien Prowler; Shal'Aran is a cave.

Insignias: Wowhead's guide says reputation tokens such as the Greater Nightfallen Insignia (750, from the Kirin Tor emissary and order hall missions) 'will not award paragon reputation', so they help to Exalted only. Against that, two comments of 2021 and 2022 earned their caches with reputation bought for Timewalking badges. Which holds now was not established, and the hours do not count on tokens. The same guide says Withered Army Training opens with the quest Building an Army and 300 Ancient Mana.

wow.gg (updated 2026) places Thalyssra 'in Meredil', the ruins above Shal'Aran, says paragon chests are earned separately on each character, and calls the Suramar campaign mandatory for world quests; the rule used for this guide's other Legion mounts is Uniting the Isles. It adds as sources:

• bosses of Court of Stars and The Arcway
• Suramar's rares
• the Darkmoon Faire's 10% buff
• the World Quest bonus event

Wowhead's sold-by list has only Hemet Nesingwary XVII at 20,000 Bronze, the Legion Remix vendor, and that event has ended. Wowhead (1 in 405 Unclaimed Black Market Containers) and the wiki note the carpet on the Black Market, a mention only.

It was the first flying carpet that does not ask for Tailoring; the item is unique, binds when picked up and asks for level 45 (wiki).

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
