Very rare zone drop: the item Captured Dune Scavenger can fall from the sethrak of Vol'dun, the Faithless and the others alike, with no creature of its own. The hunt is killing them in numbers where they stand close together, such as the Sethrak Relic Hunters and Sethrak Site Guardians in the south of the zone.
Chance 10.1% per try, so about 10 tries on average — Worked out, not read as such. Wowhead's item page (read 2026-10-11) records the mount from 35 sethrak creatures of Vol'dun, 1,585 in 5,947,040 loots together: 0.0267% a kill, or about 1 in 3,750. 10.1% is that figure for one hour's visit at about 400 kills (1 - (1 - 0.000267)^400); the kill rate is an estimate from Wowhead comments (3,090 kills in 6 hours and 3,610 in 7.5 in April 2020, nearly 7,000 in about 18 hours in July 2023) and the one this guide's other zone-drop records use. By creature the recorded rate varies widely: Sethrak Relic Hunter 301 in 400,330 (0.075%), Sethrak Site Guardian 83 in 161,586 (0.051%), Scalefang Warguard 77 in 291,653 (0.026%), Faithless Skycaller 162 in 660,761 (0.025%), Sethrak Ravager 169 in 1,142,431 (0.015%), Faithless Aggressor 69 in 627,865 (0.011%), Faithless Sandscout 26 in 671,332 (0.004%), Faithless Ravager 8 in 397,533 (0.002%); the rare Skycarver Krakit 81 in 77,872 (0.10%). The Rarity addon assumes 1 in 3,000. The tooltip gives no figure

Notes and sources
About 3,750 kills are expected at Wowhead's pooled rate, some 9 hours at the estimated pace, but most reports are far worse than the count suggests. Most of Wowhead's counts date from 2018, so the present chance may be lower than the recorded one; nothing official was found.
Players on Wowhead who got it:
- after 2,386 kills (2024, from a Relic Hunter at 48, 75)
- after 5,229 (2020), 17,988 (2025), 22,909 (2021) and 27,751 (2022)
- one who saw nothing in 102,000 kills and then two within 180 (2025)
- one in two and a half hours (2022)
- one after some 150 kills at a world quest (2020)
Others gave up or were still without it after about 7,000 (2023), 9,000 (2026), 14,239 (2024), 19,000 (2024), 30,000 (2025, who guesses 1 in 15,000) and 34,000 (2024) kills.
The place given above is the camp the players of 2024 and 2025 used: the Sethrak Relic Hunters and Sethrak Site Guardians around 49, 76, the two with the highest recorded rates among the creatures with more than 100,000 loots (some with far fewer loots show higher ones, such as Faithless Deadeye, 55 in 30,682). The coordinates are a middle one of Wowhead's map pins for the Sethrak Relic Hunter (creature 127406; 47.4-51.2, 72.0-77.4); the name of the place was not established.
Other spots from the comments:
- Scalefang Warguards around 31, 76 (2024)
- 52.9, 33.6, with fast respawns (2024)
- the Terrace of the Devoted
- Faithless around 36, 46 and 55, 40
The Serpent's Maw near the Vulpera Hideaway was the spot in 2018. The respawns at the usual spots were slowed on 12 September 2018 (comments), and groups for this mount no longer form (comments of 2022 and 2026). It drops below the level cap too (a character of level 119 in 2018, when the cap was 120).
wow.gg's guide (2026) names the Shrine of the Faithful, the Terrace of the Faithful and the Bonepit with rough coordinates of its own and puts the chance at 1 in 3,000-5,000 'according to community data'; it is not linked because nothing else read supports its spots. The journal names only the zone; the wiki says a zone drop from sethrak in Vol'dun and gives no chance; warcraftmounts.com says various Faithless and sethrak, zone-wide.
The item does not bind when picked up (Wowhead's tooltip shows no binding line, and the wiki and the comments speak of selling it), so it can change hands; the route given here is the drop. The item asks for level 10 (wiki). How an Alliance character best reaches Vol'dun was not looked up. Wowhead links its Battle for Azeroth Mount Guide from the item's page; it was not opened.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
