Sold by Veron Amberstill at Amberstill Ranch in Dun Morogh for 10 gold. A dwarf buys it outright; any other Alliance race has to be Exalted with Ironforge first.

In all: about 3.5 h of play, 10 gold, starting from nothing.

line and 30 seconds for a portal.
Notes and sources
Veron Amberstill in Dun Morogh sells it for 10 gold, Alliance only (the mount's wiki page, edited 2025). It asks for level 17 and Apprentice Riding since patch 9.0.1 (it was level 40 and Journeyman Riding). A plain vendor, so no guide is linked.
Coordinates are those of the other rams, Wowhead's point for the vendor (its tooltip, as read in 2026 for the Swift White Ram, has 70.4, 49.0 and 70.6, 48.8), so that the rams are one visit. The wiki's page for the vendor gives 63.5, 50.7, which the Gray Ram's notes take to be from the map as it was before Cataclysm; the mount's own wiki page gives no coordinates.
The reputation is taken over from the Swift Gray Ram and the Swift White Ram, which have the same vendor and price, and was not read again. The journal and the mount's wiki page leave it out; the wiki's page for Veron Amberstill states it (only dwarves can buy from him by default, other characters must be Exalted with Ironforge). It was not confirmed in the game, and whether a Dark Iron dwarf counts as a dwarf for him was not established. The reputation takes no time on a dwarf or on a character that is already Exalted, and the one standing opens all six rams he sells (three at 1 gold, three swift ones at 10).
Two old quests that also gave it, Black Ram Exchange and Frost Ram Exchange, are gone from the game. Wowhead's page for the mount was not read; its item tooltip is from 2026.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
