- Exalted with Ironforge, unless the buyer is a dwarf: the Ironforge Tabard from Captain Stonehelm at the Great Forge, worn in old dungeons, turns their reputation into Ironforge reputation; quests in the dwarven zones, the city's cooking and fishing dailies and the Argent Tournament also count · about 3.5 h
- 10 gold
In all: about 3.5 h of play, 10 gold, starting from nothing.

Notes and sources
Only dwarves can buy from Veron Amberstill by default; other characters must be Exalted with Ironforge. The journal and the mount's own wiki page leave this out. The wiki's page for the vendor states it and quotes his line to anyone else: 'Once you've been recognized as exalted to Ironforge, I'll gladly show you what varieties of rams I have for sale'. It was not confirmed in the game, and whether a Dark Iron dwarf counts as a dwarf for him was not established either.
The reputation time is zero on a dwarf and on a character that is already Exalted, and the one standing opens all six rams he sells (three at 1 gold, three swift ones at 10). The ways to earn the reputation are those given for the Swift Gray Ram and were not read again.
Wowhead's tooltip for the vendor (as read in 2026) has him at 70.4, 49.0 and 70.6, 48.8 in Dun Morogh, the spot the other rams use. The wiki gives 63.5, 50.7, which the Gray Ram's notes take to be from the map as it was before Cataclysm.
The item asks for level 17 and Apprentice Riding since patch 9.0.1; it was level 40 and Journeyman Riding before (wiki). Two old quests that also gave it, Black Ram Exchange and Frost Ram Exchange, are gone from the game. A plain vendor, so no guide is linked.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
