Notes and sources
The journal's cost of 1,000 is Darkmoon Prize Tickets (wiki: 'can be purchased for 1,000 Darkmoon Prize Tickets from Lhara on Darkmoon Island during the Darkmoon Faire'). It is the dearest thing Lhara sells: her two other mounts are 180 tickets each.
The tickets are a currency that keeps between Faires and, by the wiki as read for the Darkmoon Dancing Bear, has been transferable within the Warband since patch 11.0. So several characters can earn towards one purchase in the same Faire, and that is the quick way, since the daily games, the monthly quests and the artifacts are each character's own. The pet battles pay 5 tickets a day at Master level and 10 at Grand Master. The two sources are a little apart on the tickets: the wiki has nine daily games and 17 tickets from profession quests, Wowhead's guide six games and two races and 20.
The island is reached through the portals at the Faire's staging grounds, south of Goldshire in Elwynn Forest for the Alliance and outside Thunder Bluff in Mulgore for the Horde, and it is a no-fly zone. Lhara's spot is from Wowhead's tooltip for her (48.2-48.6, 69.4-69.8).
A flying mount, added in patch 7.3.0; the item binds when picked up and asks for level 10 (wiki, since patch 9.0.1; 20 before). Confidence is medium only because the time is an estimate; the vendor, the price and the place are firm. The guide linked is a player's guide, last updated in 2023 and read in 2026.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
