How to get it

Rare drop from Venomtail Skyfin, a rare elite mana ray in the west of Eredath (the zone called Mac'Aree until patch 9.1.5) on Argus. Eredath is reached from the Vindicaar.

Chance 3.22% once a day, so about 31 tries on average — Wowhead tooltip drop chance (it shows no loot counts); the wiki says about 3%

Time there about 5 min a visit

Before you go

  • Argus campaign far enough for the Vindicaar to reach Eredath: the Broken Shore assault, The Hand of Fate from Dalaran, the Krokuun chapter (about 37 quests) and the opening of the Eredath chapter · about 2.5 h

In all: about 2.5 h of play, starting from nothing.

/way Eredath 33.6 47.6
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 6.8 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Azsuna*
  2. Use the Lightforged Beacon on Krasus' Landing in Dalaran to teleport to the Vindicaar*
  3. Fly to the Navigation Console to traverse Argus
  4. Ride the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 6.7 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Azsuna*
  2. Use the Lightforged Beacon on Krasus' Landing in Dalaran to teleport to the Vindicaar*
  3. Fly to the Navigation Console to traverse Argus
  4. Ride the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

About 31 kills are expected at 3.22%. Each character can loot it once a day.

The rare is not always there: player reports say Argus rares rotate, a set being up for a few hours (respawning every few minutes) and then gone for several, so a visit can find it absent. The exact schedule could not be established; when it is the target of a world quest it stays up for as long as the quest does.

Argus has no flying. Which quest exactly opens Eredath on the Vindicaar was not pinned down.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
