How to get it

Rare drop (the item Sharkbait's Favorite Crackers) from Harlan Sweete, last boss of Freehold, on Mythic. The journal's second source, the Challenger's Cache, is the end chest of a Mythic+ run and only counts in a season whose rotation has the dungeon; Midnight Season 2 does not.

Chance 0.5% once a week, so about 200 tries on average — Wowhead: 863 mounts in 173,721 recorded Mythic loots of Harlan Sweete (0.497%; read 2026-10-11). Pooled over every difficulty the same 863 stand against 395,444 loots (0.22%), Normal and Heroic included, where the mount cannot drop. For the keystone end chest, which does not count this season, Wowhead has 674 in 173,744 loots of Challenger's Cache (0.39%) and 60 in 7,874 for a second, newer cache object (0.76%). The Rarity addon lists 1 in 200 (0.5%), which agrees; Blizzard never published a figure

Getting there

Freehold entrance, southern Tiragarde Sound
Tiragarde Sound · 83.8, 79.3
/way Tiragarde Sound 83.8 79.3
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 1.7 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Boralus*
  2. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 2.4 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Zuldazar*
  2. Take the Banshee's Wail to Tiragarde Sound*
  3. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

Only Mythic counts, and only Harlan Sweete: a much-liked 2024 Wowhead comment tells of 203 kills of the first boss, Skycap'n Kragg, before finding that out. About 200 kills are expected at 0.5%.

One attempt per character per week. By the wiki's Midnight Season 2 page only the season's own dungeons are on a daily Mythic lockout; the weekly lockout for Mythic dungeons outside the rotation is from the wiki's lockout page, as read for this guide's Underrot Crawg and not read again. The Midnight Season 2 rotation (wiki, 2026, the season listed as ongoing) leaves out Freehold, so its end chest is not a source now:

  • Altar of Fangs
  • Murder Row
  • Den of Nalorakk
  • The Blinding Vale
  • Voidscar Arena
  • Kings' Rest
  • Temple of Sethraliss
  • Ruby Life Pools

The time on the spot follows Wowhead comments of 2025, which say the other three bosses can be walked past and only Harlan Sweete killed; six minutes is an estimate around that. Whether that still holds in Midnight was not confirmed: the wiki says the Irontide enforcers on the last stretch cannot be avoided.

Reported kill counts: 40, 45, 53 and 90 during the Collector's Bounty event of July 2025, when drop chances were raised; 225 (2025), 933 (2024), over 150 without it (2026) and 665 (2026).

The entrance is the one in the game's own data; the wiki puts it at the southernmost point of Tiragarde Sound, near Castaway Point. Wowhead also records the mount in the Unclaimed Black Market Container (4 in 405), which is not a way of earning it. The item binds when picked up (Wowhead's tooltip, wiki).

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
