Classic Blacksmithing 1–300 15 materials

Estimated materials

As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • 133 × Rough Stone
Gather Copper Veins in the old Darkshore, Darkshore Mining. Rough Stone comes up with the ore when you mine Copper Veins, and Darkshore is the richest Copper zone, about 200 ore in one flying lap. Zidormi, marked in the north of the zone, switches you to the old Darkshore the route is for.
Gather Copper Veins in the caves, Durotar Another strong Copper zone: each of its few caves usually holds three or four Copper Veins.
Needs Mining. Easy to buy, too.
  • 210 × Copper Bar
Craft Any forge Smelt Copper, the first thing Mining teaches, turns each Copper Ore into one bar. From 1 × Copper Ore (Mining).
Gather Copper Veins in the old Darkshore, Darkshore Mining. The richest Copper zone, about 200 ore in one flying lap. Zidormi, marked in the north of the zone, switches you to the old Darkshore the route is for.
Gather Copper Veins in the caves, Durotar Each of Durotar's caves usually holds three or four Copper Veins close together.
Smelting needs Mining. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Tin Veins in the Alterac Mountains, Hillsbrad Foothills Mining. Coarse Stone comes up with the ore when you mine Tin Veins, and the Alterac Mountains in the north of Hillsbrad are the best Tin spot; fly laps around the mountains until the veins are back.
Gather Tin Veins, Northern Stranglethorn The second-best Tin zone, if someone else is already mining the Alterac Mountains.
Needs Mining. Easy to buy, too.
  • Craft Any forge Smelt Silver, taught by a mining trainer at Classic Mining 65, turns each Silver Ore into one bar. From 1 × Silver Ore (Mining).
Gather Silver Veins Mining. Silver Veins are a rare find in the low-level zones; no farming guide covers them, so mine every one you pass on a Copper or Tin run.
Only the Silver Skeleton Keys at Blacksmithing 100 to 105 use it, and the guide says to make more Runed Copper Belts instead if you have none. Where Silver Veins turn up is from game knowledge. Easy to buy, too.
  • 180 × Bronze Bar
Craft Any forge Smelt Bronze, taught by a mining trainer at Classic Mining 50, melts one Copper Bar and one Tin Bar into two Bronze Bars. From 1 × Copper Bar, 1 × Tin Bar (Mining).
Gather Tin Veins in the Alterac Mountains, Hillsbrad Foothills Mining. Tin is the half that runs short, and the Alterac Mountains in the north of Hillsbrad are the best place for it; fly laps around the mountains.
Gather Copper Veins in the old Darkshore, Darkshore Mining. The Copper half: about 200 ore in one flying lap, once Zidormi in the north has switched you to the old Darkshore.
Smelting needs Mining. Blacksmithing's 180 Bronze Bars take 90 Copper Bars and 90 Tin Bars. Easy to buy, too.
  • 105 × Heavy Stone
Gather Iron Deposits in the north, Feralas Mining. Heavy Stone comes up with the ore from Iron Deposits, and Feralas is the best Iron zone; laps of the northern half alone are enough.
Gather Iron Deposits, Western Plaguelands Nearly as good as Feralas; leave out Hearthglen, which has no ore.
Needs Mining. That Iron Deposits give Heavy Stone is from game knowledge; the farming guide is about the ore. Easy to buy, too.
  • 35 × Green Dye
Buy Tailoring or leatherworking supplies vendor, Any old capital The supply vendors who stand beside the tailoring and leatherworking trainers sell it; ask a guard in any old-world capital for either trainer and the vendor is close by.
Blacksmithing needs 35: ten for the Green Iron Leggings at 155 and twenty-five for the Green Iron Bracers after them, so buy them all in one visit.
  • 230 × Iron Bar
Craft Any forge Smelt Iron, taught by a mining trainer at Classic Mining 100, turns each Iron Ore into one bar. From 1 × Iron Ore (Mining).
Gather Iron Deposits in the north, Feralas Mining. The best Iron zone: deposits turn up wherever you fly, and laps of the northern half alone keep you busy.
Gather Iron Deposits, Western Plaguelands A strong second zone; leave out Hearthglen, where no ore grows.
Smelting needs Mining. The 230 go into Green Iron Leggings and Bracers; the 50 Steel Bars at 190 take another 50 Iron Bars, each smelted with a piece of Coal from the blacksmithing supplier. Easy to buy, too.
  • 50 × Steel Bar
Craft Any forge Miners learn Smelt Steel from a mining trainer at Classic Mining 125; each bar takes one Iron Bar and one Coal. The Coal is sold by the Blacksmithing Supply vendor beside the blacksmithing trainer, and Iron Ore is mined best in Feralas or Western Plaguelands. From 1 × Iron Bar, 1 × Coal (Mining).
Smelting needs Mining; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Engineering needs only four, for the Gyromatic Micro-Adjustor.
  • Gather Mithril Deposits around Dreadmaul Rock, Burning Steppes Mining. Solid Stone comes up with the ore from Mithril Deposits. The caves under Dreadmaul Rock are packed with them (you go in on foot and clear the mobs inside), and the corner of the map around it has plenty more.
Gather Mithril Deposits and the Mithril cave, Badlands A short, simple loop, plus a cave that is full of Mithril and the mobs guarding it, quick work for a max-level character.
Gather Mithril Deposits, Felwood One big loop around the whole zone.
Needs Mining. That Mithril Deposits give Solid Stone is from game knowledge; the farming guide is about the ore. Easy to buy, too.
  • Farm Zul'Farrak, Tanaris Before each run, fly over the instance portal to the outdoor Zul'Farrak, where about a hundred trolls crowd the stepped execution platform, and kill them all. Then clear the dungeon on your mount, opening the Shallow Graves by Witch Doctor Zum'rah for extra zombies, and reset; the outdoor trolls are back within three or four minutes.
Farm Stratholme, Eastern Plaguelands About as good as Zul'Farrak when someone else is on the outdoor trolls there. Go in at the Main Gate, clear it and reset, up to ten instances an hour.
Farm Dunemaul ogres, Tanaris An open-world spot: the ogres are spread out but come back quickly, and each drops one to three pieces.
Sandfury Shadowcasters in Zul'Farrak knock you off your mount, except the Chauffeured Chopper (the reward for 35 heirlooms), which counts you as a passenger. Easy to buy, too.
  • 320 × Mithril Bar
Craft Any forge Smelt Mithril, taught by a mining trainer at Classic Mining 150, turns each Mithril Ore into one bar. From 1 × Mithril Ore (Mining).
Gather Mithril Deposits around Dreadmaul Rock, Burning Steppes Mining. The caves under Dreadmaul Rock are packed with deposits (you go in on foot and clear the mobs inside), and the corner of the map around it has plenty more.
Gather Mithril Deposits and the Mithril cave, Badlands A short loop plus a cave full of Mithril and the mobs guarding it, quick work for a max-level character.
Smelting needs Mining. Felwood is a third good zone: one big loop around it. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Thorium Veins, Winterspring Mining. Dense Stone comes up with the ore from Thorium Veins, and Winterspring is thick with Rich Thorium Veins; you find them everywhere, on the route or off it.
Gather Thorium Veins around the crater, Un'Goro Crater One big loop around the crater's rim covers it.
Gather Thorium Veins in the old Silithus, Silithus Plenty of veins, but only in the old Silithus: most are gone from today's zone, so speak to Zidormi in the north-east first.
Needs Mining. That Thorium Veins give Dense Stone is from game knowledge; the farming guide is about the ore. Easy to buy, too.
  • 420 × Thorium Bar
Craft Any forge Smelt Thorium, taught by a mining trainer at Classic Mining 200, turns each Thorium Ore into one bar. From 1 × Thorium Ore (Mining).
Gather Thorium Veins, Winterspring Mining. The best Thorium zone, thick with Rich Thorium Veins; you find them everywhere, on the route or off it.
Gather Thorium Veins around the crater, Un'Goro Crater One big loop around the crater's rim covers it.
Smelting needs Mining. The old Silithus is good too, after Zidormi in the north-east has switched you to it. Easy to buy, too.
  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 72 × Rugged Leather
    • 9 × Star Ruby
    • Gather Onyxian Warders in Onyxia's Lair, Dustwallow Marsh Skinning. Kill the four Onyxian Warders, skin them, leave Onyxia alive so the trash comes back, then reset the instance and go again, up to ten runs an hour. Some skins give Rugged Hide instead, but over ten runs nothing beats it. up to 20 per Warder.
Gather Ice Thistle Yetis in their cave, Winterspring Skinning. The yetis crowd together in and around their cave, ideal for big pulls; only about 60% of skins are Rugged Leather, the rest Thick Leather.
Gather Beasts in the old Blasted Lands, Blasted Lands Skinning. Ashmane Boars, Snickerfang Hyenas, felhounds and other beasts; Zidormi in the north has to show you the old Blasted Lands first.
Needs Skinning, at about 280 Classic Skinning or you get lower leathers. If skinned Warders give nothing, learning Outland Skinning from Seymour in Shattrath fixes it for most people. Easy to buy, too.
    • Salvage Prospecting Mithril Ore, Burning Steppes Jewelcrafters get one from about a third of the five-ore prospects of Mithril Ore (35%), the best odds of any ore; the Mithril caves under Dreadmaul Rock in Burning Steppes supply the ore.
Salvage Prospecting Thorium Ore, Winterspring Five Thorium Ore give one 30% of the time, along with the bigger Classic gems; Winterspring is the best Thorium zone.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Blacksmithing needs the nine only if you make Thorium Helms rather than Thorium Boots from 291 to 300.

Added up from the guide's steps. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • 238 × Fel Iron Bar
Craft Any forge Smelt Fel Iron, the first smelting Outland Mining teaches, turns two Fel Iron Ore into one bar. From 2 × Fel Iron Ore (Mining).
Gather Fel Iron Deposits, Hellfire Peninsula Mining. Every node in the zone is Fel Iron, and they come back fast enough that a short route through part of it is enough.
Smelting needs Mining; learn Outland Mining from Hanlir or Fono in Shattrath, or each node gives far less ore. Blacksmithing needs 238 (136 more on the Aldor route) and Engineering 450. Easy to buy, too.
  • Farm Mana-Tombs, Terokkar Forest The normal-difficulty Auchindoun wing, entered north of the Ring of Observance in the Bone Wastes, is full of cloth-dropping mobs to clear in one go. Reset from your portrait and go back in, up to ten instances an hour.
Farm Legion Hold, Shadowmoon Valley (Outland) Shadow Council Warlocks fill the camp, at least three of them up at any time, and fall in a hit or two.
Farm Manaforge B'naar, Netherstorm Blood elves stand in groups among the tents; loop the camp, gathering each group as you pass.
    Easy to buy, too.
  • Craft Any forge Smelt Adamantite, which Outland Mining teaches at skill 25, makes one bar from two Adamantite Ore. From 2 × Adamantite Ore (Mining).
Gather Adamantite Deposits, caves included, Nagrand (Outland) Mining. Nagrand's caves are small, hold several nodes each and have easy mobs, so go into every one on the loop.
Gather Adamantite Deposits, caves included, Netherstorm Mining. Just as rich; its larger caves are full of tougher mobs, which a max-level character clears on the way to the nodes.
Smelting needs Mining; learn Outland Mining from Hanlir or Fono in Shattrath, or each node gives far less ore. Blacksmithing needs 180, Engineering 350 and Jewelcrafting 12. Easy to buy, too.
  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • The Scryers route, 60–75: 1,080 × Adamantite Ore, 256 × Arcane Dust, 54 × Large Prismatic Shard, 840 × Sunfury Signet
    • The dungeon-recipe route, 60–75: 720 × Fel Iron Ore, 480 × Eternium Ore
    • The Aldor route, 60–75: 136 × Fel Iron Bar, 68 × Primal Water, 68 × Primal Fire, 360 × Mark of Sargeras
    • Gather Adamantite Deposits, caves included, Nagrand (Outland) Mining. One of the two best zones: its caves are small, hold several nodes each and have easy mobs, so take every cave on the loop.
Gather Adamantite Deposits, caves included, Netherstorm Mining. Just as rich. Its caves are bigger and full of tougher mobs, which a max-level character simply clears on the way to the nodes.
Gather Laps of the open valley, Shadowmoon Valley (Outland) Mining. Also good, but skip its two caves: the nodes inside take too long to reach, and laps outside give more.
Needs Mining; learn Outland Mining from Hanlir or Fono in Shattrath, or each node gives far less ore. Khorium Veins sometimes appear in place of Adamantite Deposits. The Scryers route of Outland Blacksmithing needs 1080, smelted by a miner into 54 Hardened Adamantite Bars; Jewelcrafting needs 240. Easy to buy, too.
    • Disenchant Uncommon Outland gear, Outland Green armour and weapons from Outland break down into it. Clear Outland dungeons, whose trash and bosses drop greens, and keep the greens from any Outland farm, such as the Mana-Tombs runs for Netherweave Cloth.
Disenchanting needs Enchanting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Outland Enchanting needs 638 and the Scryers route of Outland Blacksmithing 256. That greens give it and that the dungeons are the place to collect them is from game knowledge; Wowpedia says only that Outland gear disenchants into it.
    • Disenchant Rare gear from the top Outland dungeons, Outland Blue items made for the end of Burning Crusade leveling break down into it. Run the last Outland dungeons, such as the Botanica and Mechanar in Tempest Keep, Shattered Halls or Shadow Labyrinth, and disenchant every blue the bosses drop.
Craft Formula: Large Prismatic Shard An enchanter can fuse three Small Prismatic Shards into one with a Runed Fel Iron Rod; Madame Ruby in Shattrath sells the formula, as do Lyna in Silvermoon and Egomis in the Exodar. From 3 × Small Prismatic Shard (Enchanting).
Disenchanting needs Enchanting; anyone else should buy it. Wowpedia ties it to rare gear of item level 100 to 115, the old level 65 to 70 gear; which dungeons drop that gear, and that blues from the earlier Outland dungeons give Small Prismatic Shards, is from game knowledge. Outland Enchanting needs only 5, but the Scryers route of Outland Blacksmithing needs 54.
    • Farm The Botanica and the Mechanar, Netherstorm Kael'thas's blood elves fill these Tempest Keep dungeons, and they drop signets more often than those outside. A full Botanica clear takes about four minutes; reset and go again, up to ten instances an hour.
Farm The Manaforges, Netherstorm Every Manaforge in the zone is crawling with blood elves: gather a forge into one big pull, kill it, and fly on to the next while it refills.
A Scryers token. Once you have sided with the Scryers, hand them to Magistrix Fyalenn in Shattrath: ten give 250 reputation, all the way to Exalted. The Scryers route of Outland Blacksmithing counts 840, enough to go from Neutral to Revered; a Blood Elf starts at Friendly and needs 720. An Arcane Tome given to Voren'thal the Seer is worth 350, as much as fourteen signets. The signet is not bound, so the auction house may have some.
    • Gather Fel Iron Deposits, Hellfire Peninsula Mining. The best zone, because it has no other ore; every node is Fel Iron. The nodes come back fast enough that a short route through part of the peninsula beats a full lap.
Gather Fel Iron and Adamantite Deposits, Terokkar Forest Mining. A good second choice that brings some Adamantite Ore with it.
Needs Mining; learn Outland Mining from Hanlir or Fono in Shattrath first, or every node gives far less ore. The dungeon-recipe route of Outland Blacksmithing needs 720, smelted with Eternium into Felsteel Bars. Easy to buy, too.
    • Gather Rich Adamantite Deposits and Khorium Veins, Nagrand (Outland) Mining. Eternium has no node of its own: it comes now and then from Outland nodes, most often from Rich Adamantite Deposits, so mine the Adamantite loop through Nagrand and its caves.
Gather Rich Adamantite Deposits and Khorium Veins, Netherstorm Mining. The other great Adamantite zone, caves included, and so the other best place to pick up Eternium on the side.
Needs Mining. Fel Iron Deposits give it too, so the Fel Iron Ore farm in Hellfire Peninsula adds some. The dungeon-recipe route of Outland Blacksmithing needs 480, a lot to collect as a by-product, and it is easy to buy, too.
    • Craft Any forge Smelt Fel Iron, the first smelting Outland Mining teaches, turns two Fel Iron Ore into one bar.
    • Craft From your bags, Outland Using ten Motes of Water turns them into one Primal Water; no profession is needed. Farm the motes in one of the two places below. From 10 × Mote of Water (Combine (no profession)).
Farm Black Temple, the rooms before High Warlord Naj'entus, Shadowmoon Valley The first rooms are full of water elementals (Aqueous Spawn, Surgers and Lords), and two small rooms are packed with Spawn. Clear up to the first boss but leave him alive, step out, reset from your portrait and go again, up to ten times an hour; the way in is a gap in the wall right of the main gate. 15 to 20 motes a run of three or four minutes.
Farm Elemental Plateau, Nagrand The Crashing Wave-Spirits here drop motes most often, frequently two at a time; the place to go while the Black Temple's resets are used up.
Blacksmithing's Aldor route needs 68, four for each of the 17 Flamebane Gloves at 60 to 75, which is 680 motes; the gloves turn green near the end, so more may be needed. Easy to buy, too.
    • Craft From your bags, Outland Using ten Motes of Fire turns them into one Primal Fire; no profession is needed. Farm the motes in one of the two places below. From 10 × Mote of Fire (Combine (no profession)).
Farm Throne of Kil'jaeden, Hellfire Peninsula The best mote spot: the Incandescent Fel Sparks come back so fast that a max-level character never runs out of them. Leave the Felblood Initiates alone; they cannot be killed and sit at 1 health.
Farm Raging Fire-Souls, Nagrand Also good, but the Fire-Souls return more slowly, so kill them all and the next round means waiting.
Blacksmithing's Aldor route needs 68, four for each of the 17 Flamebane Gloves at 60 to 75; Engineering 6 to 15, one per Khorium Power Core at 55 to 60, which the Field Repair Bots at 70 to 75 use up. Easy to buy, too.
    • Farm Legion Hold, Shadowmoon Valley The marks come from the Burning Legion's demons, and this Legion stronghold is the place Almar's Aldor guide picks for farming them. The Shadow Council warlocks inside drop Netherweave Cloth, so the same clear fills both.
Only the Aldor take them: Adyen the Lightwarden on Aldor Rise in Shattrath gives 250 reputation for each ten. Blacksmithing's Aldor route needs 360, Neutral to Honored, for the Flamebane Gloves plans; 26 Fel Armaments handed to Ishanah do the same. The guide says the Scryers route is usually the cheaper one. The marks are not bound, so they can be bought, too.

From 60 to 75 the guide offers three routes, each with its own recipes: the Scryers (usually the cheapest), the Aldor, or recipes from dungeon drops. The reputation items count toward Honored with the chosen faction; the guide gives cheaper alternatives for some of them.

  • 180 × Cobalt Bar
Craft Any forge Smelt Cobalt, the first thing Northrend Mining teaches, turns each Cobalt Ore into one bar. From 1 × Cobalt Ore (Mining).
Gather Cobalt Deposits across the zone, Howling Fjord Mining. The best zone for Cobalt Ore.
Gather Cobalt Deposits across the zone, Borean Tundra Mining. Nearly as good, for when Howling Fjord is busy; Grizzly Hills is another good choice that few miners visit.
Needs Mining; learn Northrend Mining first (Jedidiah Handers in Northrend's Dalaran, or the trainers in Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord), or the nodes give much less ore. Engineering needs 260 and Blacksmithing 180. Easy to buy, too.
  • 721 × Saronite Bar
Craft Any forge Smelt Saronite, learned at Northrend Mining 25, makes one bar from every two Saronite Ore. From 2 × Saronite Ore (Mining).
Gather Saronite Deposits across the zone, Wintergrasp Mining. The best zone between battles; the battle comes round every hour and grounds flying mounts while it lasts, so mine Sholazar Basin next door until it is over.
Gather Saronite Deposits across the zone, Icecrown Mining. A good zone with a route that is easy to follow.
Needs Mining; learn Northrend Mining first (Jedidiah Handers in Northrend's Dalaran, or the trainers in Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord), or the nodes give much less ore. Rare Titanium Veins turn up among the Saronite. Blacksmithing needs 721 bars, which is 1,442 ore, and Engineering 390. Easy to buy, too.
  • Farm Enraged Tempests, Borean Tundra The best place for it: several Tempests are always up, so you go from one kill to the next without waiting.
Farm Altar Wardens, Zul'Drak They stand far apart and come back slowly, but one Warden often drops three or four at once.
Buy Frozo the Renowned, Dalaran, Northrend He trades an Eternal Air for one Frozen Orb, and using an Eternal Air splits it into ten Crystallized Air, so three orbs cover the guide. The orbs cost 75 gold from Arcanist Ivrenne (Alliance) or Magistrix Lambriesse (Horde) in Northrend's Dalaran, not the Broken Isles one.
Blacksmithing needs 30, two for each of the 15 Deadly Saronite Dirks it makes at 20 to 25 and 30 to 40. Ten combine into one Eternal Air. Easy to buy, too.
  • Craft From your bags, Northrend Using ten Crystallized Earth turns them into one Eternal Earth; no profession is needed. Farm the Crystallized Earth at the spot below. From 10 × Crystallized Earth (Combine (no profession)).
Farm Lifeblood Elementals, Sholazar Basin The best source of Crystallized Earth, and they come back so quickly that there is always another pull ready.
Buy Frozo the Renowned, Dalaran, Northrend He trades one Eternal Earth for one Frozen Orb, and the orbs cost 75 gold from Arcanist Ivrenne (Alliance) or Magistrix Lambriesse (Horde). All three are in Northrend's Dalaran, not the Broken Isles one.
Blacksmithing needs 39, one for each of 5 Daunting Handguards at 50 to 55 and 34 Daunting Legplates at 55 to 75; Saronite armour that takes Eternal Water, Fire or Shadow instead does as well. Jewelcrafting needs 46, two for each of 23 Stoneguard Bands at 25 to 45, or 23 with 23 Eternal Shadow for Shadowmight Rings. Mining Saronite Ore, best in Icecrown, also turns up Crystallized Earth. Easy to buy, too.

  • 390 × Obsidium Bar
Craft Any forge Mining's Smelt Obsidium turns every two Obsidium Ore into one bar. From 2 × Obsidium Ore (Mining).
Gather Obsidium Deposits, Mount Hyjal Mining. Mount Hyjal is the best land zone for Obsidium; fly a lap of it and smelt what you gather.
Gather Obsidium Deposits, Shimmering Expanse Just as good: the route here is easy to follow and the deposits come back quickly enough that you never wait. The Abyssal Depths are nearly as rich if the Expanse is busy.
Smelting needs Mining. Blacksmithing needs 390, for 195 Folded Obsidium at two bars each, which is 780 ore; Engineering needs 60, for 30 Handful of Obsidium Bolts. Easy to buy, too.
  • Craft Any forge Mining's Smelt Elementium makes one bar from every two Elementium Ore. From 2 × Elementium Ore (Mining).
Gather Elementium Deposits, Twilight Highlands Mining. The best Elementium zone; the occasional Pyrite Deposit spawns in place of an Elementium one.
Gather Elementium Deposits, Uldum The second zone, for when Twilight Highlands is crowded. Zidormi at Ramkahen switches you from the newer Uldum a max-level character sees to the old one.
Smelting needs Mining. Blacksmithing needs 340, including 20 to buy a Vicious Pyrium Belt plan, and 20 more if you smelt its two Hardened Elementium Bars yourself; Engineering needs 360, 300 of them for Lure Master Tackle Boxes. That is some 700 ore for either profession. Easy to buy, too.
  • Farm Tor-Tun in Zul'Gurub, Northern Stranglethorn Set the difficulty to Heroic (there is no Normal), kill Tor-Tun and, once a day, the Florawing Hive Queen, whose Honeycomb holds more volatiles, then leave and reset. Kill no other boss or the reset is lost; a run takes about two minutes, so the ten-instances-an-hour limit arrives after some twenty. 5 to 8 per Tor-Tun kill.
Farm Obsidian Stoneslaves at the Black Breach, Twilight Highlands Round up the Stoneslaves and kill them together; a miner can also mine the bodies for more Volatile Earth.
Farm Scalding Rock Elementals, Mount Hyjal They die quickly and come back fast, a good place to go while Zul'Gurub's resets are used up.
Blacksmithing needs 10 for the Redsteel Belts at 10 to 20, and 8 more if you smelt its two Hardened Elementium Bars yourself. Jewelcrafting's Vicious Ruby Choker, one of three choices at 70 to 75, takes 40. The Zul'Gurub entrance is at 72, 33 in Northern Stranglethorn; where the Stoneslaves stand is from Wowpedia. Easy to buy, too.
  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 150 × Volatile Fire
    • 150 × Volatile Water
    • Gather Pools of Fire in the lava, Twilight Highlands Fishing, at any skill. The pools are rings of flame on the lava, two at most at a time from four spawn points, each good for two to four casts of one or two Volatile Fire; between pools, kill the Enslaved Infernos nearby, which drop it 14% of the time. Mount Hyjal has Pools of Fire too. over 100 an hour.
Farm Flame Ascendants, Mount Hyjal Eight or nine of them spawn close together, have little health and return quickly; gather the lot, kill them and circle back as they reappear.
Farm Unbound Emberfiends, Twilight Highlands The mob spot to use instead of the pools when other players have them.
The most-wanted Cataclysm volatile: Leatherworking needs 112, Blacksmithing 150 (or Volatile Water instead, or a mix), Jewelcrafting's Vicious Sapphire Necklace 20 and Engineering 15. Pools refill in about 12 to 15 minutes. Flame Terrors and Brimstone Destroyers in Mount Hyjal drop it as well, but appear only after the Guardians of Hyjal: Firelands Invasion! quests. Easy to buy, too.
    • Farm Muddied Water Elementals along the Verrall River, Twilight Highlands The one mob spot the guide names. Turn in the Muddied Waters quest first: players report the elementals drop no Volatile Water while it is in your log. Drops come in streaks, so a dry quarter of an hour is just bad luck.
Gather Fishing pools and open water, Cataclysm zones Fishing. Any fishing pool in a Cataclysm zone can bring it up, and so can casting into open water there.
Blacksmithing needs 150 (or Volatile Fire instead, or a mix), Leatherworking 50, and Jewelcrafting's Vicious Amberjewel Pendant or Vicious Ruby Choker 40 or 30. Where the elementals are is from Wowpedia. Easy to buy, too.
  • Craft Any forge Smelt Hardened Elementium, learned from a Mining trainer at Cataclysm Mining 50, makes one bar from ten Elementium Bars and four Volatile Earth. From 10 × Elementium Bar, 4 × Volatile Earth (Mining).
The Blacksmithing guide needs only two, and not to craft with: they are the price of Plans: Vicious Pyrium Boots or Vicious Ornate Pyrium Boots for 70 to 75, sold by the blacksmithing supplies vendor near the trainer. Two bars take 20 Elementium Bars and 8 Volatile Earth on top of the guide's list. Easy to buy, too.

  • Craft Any forge Smelt Ghost Iron, taught from Pandaria Mining 1, turns two Ghost Iron Ore into one bar, so the Blacksmithing guide's 595 bars take about 1,190 ore and the Engineering guide's 406 about 810. From 2 × Ghost Iron Ore (Mining).
Gather Ghost Iron Deposits across the zone, Valley of the Four Winds Mining. The best zone for the ore; Rich Ghost Iron Deposits give more per node, and now and then a deposit turns out to be Trillium.
Gather Ghost Iron Deposits across the zone, The Jade Forest Nearly as good; Townlong Steppes is a third choice where you will rarely meet another miner.
Smelting needs Mining. Easy to buy, too.
  • Farm Heart of Fear (Raid Finder), Dread Wastes Queue through Lorewalker Han, up on the second level of the Seat of Knowledge above Mogu'shan Palace in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Clear the trash of the first two rooms but leave the first boss, then leave the group, reset and go again; a clear takes about two minutes. 8 to 14 Motes of Harmony a run.
Craft From your bags, Pandaria Ten Motes of Harmony combine into one Spirit; no profession is needed. Every mob in Pandaria can drop Motes, dungeon mobs included. From 10 × Mote of Harmony (Combine (no profession)).

  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 98 Truesteel Reshapers: 2,940 × True Iron Ore
    • 98 Truesteel Grinders: 1,960 × Blackrock Ore, 980 × True Iron Ore
    • Gather Mining loop of the whole zone, Frostfire Ridge Mining. The farming guide's favourite: most deposits stand in the open with nothing guarding them, so a flying loop barely has to stop.
Gather Mining loop of the whole zone, Talador Mining. Rated nearly as high by the same guide, with Shadowmoon Valley a good third.
Gather Garrison mine, Your garrison, Frostfire Ridge (Horde) or Shadowmoon Valley (Alliance) Frostwall Mines or Lunarfall Excavation refills with Draenor ore deposits every day: about 8 at building level 1, 13 at level 2 and 18 at level 3.
Needs Mining. It goes into recipes as ore, with no smelting. Draenor Blacksmithing needs 2940 for 98 Truesteel Reshapers, or only 980 if you make Truesteel Grinders, which take 1960 Blackrock Ore as well; Draenor Engineering needs 1050 for 70 Didi's Delicate Assembly at 30 to 100, plus 24 (Stealthman 54) or 138 (Shieldtronic Shield) at 1 to 30; Draenor Jewelcrafting needs 450 for Mastery or Stamina Taladite. Ten True Iron Nuggets also combine into one ore. Easy to buy, too.

Legion Blacksmithing 1–100 3 materials

Estimated materials

As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • Gather Mining route, Val'sharah Mining. The guide's main Leystone route, with far less climbing up and down than Highmountain.
Gather Lagoon Basilisks, Azsuna Pull the basilisks together, kill them and mine Leystone from their corpses; they respawn fast enough to keep going without a pause, as long as you have the spot to yourself.
A miner at skill 1 gets as much ore per node as one at 100. Demonsteel Stirrups let you mine without leaving the saddle. Easy to buy, too.
  • 120 × Felslate
Gather Leystone mining route, Val'sharah Mining. Felslate turns up now and then among the Leystone nodes, so run the Val'sharah Leystone loop and take every Felslate on it; the Leystone is wanted by the same Blacksmithing guide.
Gather Mining loop of the zone, Suramar Mining. The same mix as Val'sharah: mostly Leystone, with Felslate the rarer find.
Needs Mining; skill 1 mines as much as skill 100. Wowpedia says Felslate is found all over the Broken Isles; the farming guide names only these two zones and calls it a rare node in both. Demonsteel Stirrups let you mine without dismounting, and Enchant Gloves - Legion Mining speeds it up. The Legion Blacksmithing guide needs 120, for 60 Demonsteel Bars. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Herb, ore and skinning nodes, Broken Isles Herbalism, Mining and Skinning on the Broken Isles now and then yield a Blood of Sargeras on top of the usual haul, so it piles up while gathering Legion materials.
Binds when picked up: it cannot be bought or traded, though characters who played Legion often still have a stack. Where it comes from is from game knowledge; the guides cited only say it is bind-on-pickup.

  • 1,558 × Monelite Ore
Gather Mining route, Nazmir Mining. The first route in the farming guide. Its inner loop usually grows back in time; if you outpace the veins, widen the circle around the zone.
Gather Mining route, Drustvar Works the same way: an inner loop that mostly keeps up, and a wider one for when you mine faster than it regrows.
Gather Mining route, Stormsong Valley An easy route to follow. A few veins lie underground near the middle of the zone, rarely worth the detour.
Needs Mining; rank 1 is taught by the mining trainer in Dazar'alor or Boralus, who also gives the quests for rank 2 (Lumbering Away, skill 50) and rank 3 (Insufferable Bloodsuckers, skill 145); higher ranks give more per vein. Mined Monelite veins often come back as Storm Silver, which both guides want as well. The ore goes straight into the recipes, with no smelting. Blacksmithing takes 1558; Engineering's 700 leaves out 110 to 145, which needs another 280 to 650 depending on the method chosen. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Monelite mining route, Nazmir Mining. Storm Silver has no spots of its own: a mined Monelite vein comes back as Storm Silver about a third of the time, so mine every vein on a Monelite route. Nazmir's is the farming guide's first.
Gather Monelite mining route, Drustvar Also good; take the wider loop around the zone if you mine faster than the veins grow back.
Gather Monelite mining route, Stormsong Valley An easy route to follow, skipping the few underground veins near the middle.
Needs Mining; rank 1 is taught by the mining trainer in Dazar'alor or Boralus, who also gives the quests for rank 2 (Ritualistic Preparations, skill 50) and rank 3 (Brined Justice, skill 145); higher ranks give more per vein. The farming guide puts the chance of a Monelite vein returning as Storm Silver at 35 to 40 percent. Blacksmithing takes 820, and a few hundred more if you take its other way through 115 to 145; Engineering's 350 leaves out 110 to 145, which needs another 200 to 730 depending on the method chosen. Easy to buy, too.
  • 120 × Platinum Ore
Gather Monelite Deposits on the zone loop, Nazmir Mining. Platinum has no nodes of its own: a Monelite Deposit you mine sometimes comes back as Platinum, so the zone with the most Monelite wins. Nazmir's loop is the best, quicker still on a water-walking mount. a 5–8% chance per Monelite node.
Gather Monelite Deposits on the zone loop, Drustvar Mining. Nearly as good; if the nodes stop coming back, take the wider loop round the zone.
Gather Monelite Deposits on the zone loop, Stormsong Valley or Tiragarde Sound Mining. Both have easy loops too; in Stormsong, skip the few nodes down in the caves in the middle of the map.
Needs Mining; any BfA Mining skill can pick it. Rank 2 comes from an Exceptional Platinum Shard found in Platinum nodes from about skill 130, rank 3 from the quest chain of a Platinum Map found the same way. The BfA Blacksmithing guide takes 120 for its Sinister Combatant's Plate Armguards; the Stormsteel Dagger route it offers instead takes 240. Easy to buy, too.
  • 75 × Expulsom
Salvage Scrap-o-Matic 1000 (Tradewinds Market) or Shred-Master Mk1 (Terrace of Crafters), Boralus (Alliance) or Dazar'alor (Horde) Feed the scrapper any Battle for Azeroth gear, up to nine pieces at a time; quality makes no difference, so the cheapest route is crafting piles of Tidespray Linen Bracers (Tailoring) or Coarse Leather or Shimmerscale Armguards (Leatherworking) and scrapping them. BfA trinkets, other than crafted ones, always give one. about one for every six pieces scrapped.
Craft Transmute: Expulsom Alchemists with Kul Tiran or Zandalari Alchemy 110 can make five a day; the transmute has its own cooldown, apart from older ones. From 10 × Akunda's Bite, 10 × Winter's Kiss, 3 × Anchor Weed (Alchemy). 5 a day.
Get Profession world quests, Kul Tiras and Zandalar Some profession world quests reward it, and any world quest that rewards a trinket is worth doing, since the trinket scraps into one.
Binds when picked up: it cannot be mailed, so send the crafted gear to the character who needs the Expulsom and scrap it there.
  • 220 × Osmenite Ore
Gather Osmenite Deposits on the main loop, caves included, Nazjatar Mining. Osmenite is found only in Nazjatar. Fly the main loop and go into every cave on it: some nodes sit too deep inside to show on the map until you are in. The mobs that crowd the zone are no obstacle at max level.
Gather The outer loop, Nazjatar Mining. A second loop through the parts of the zone the first one misses; a little poorer, but useful when others are on the main loop.
Needs Mining. Rank 1 needs skill 140 and is taught by Rolm (Horde) or Instructor Ulooaka (Alliance) in Nazjatar once the zone's first quests are done; rank 2 drops from the rare Avarius, summoned with a Brinestone Pickaxe that Nazjatar mobs drop, and rank 3 comes from a quest item found in the deposits. The BfA guides take 220 for Blacksmithing and 405 for Engineering, and jewelcrafters prospect 100 to 150 for the gems that finish their guide. Easy to buy, too.
  • 190 × Durable Flux not in the guide's list
Buy Forgemaster Zak'aal (Horde) or Grix "Ironfists" Barlow (Alliance), Terrace of Crafters, Dazar'alor, or Tradewinds Market, Boralus The BfA Blacksmithing trainers sell it; buy the whole 190 in one go when you visit them.
Buy Trade suppliers, Around the world Trade goods suppliers elsewhere in the world stock it as well, handy if you are not near either trainer.
Salvage Scrap-o-Matic 1000 (Tradewinds Market) or Shred-Master Mk1 (Terrace of Crafters), Boralus or Dazar'alor Scrapping BfA gear sometimes gives some alongside the Expulsom, a small bonus rather than a way to get it.
The BfA Blacksmithing guide leaves it out of its shopping list because it is sold, but its Notorious Combatant's Plate Armguards steps take 190 in all (105, 60 and 25).

Shadowlands Blacksmithing 1–100 7 materials

Estimated materials

As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • Gather Mining route, Revendreth Mining. Laestrite is in every Shadowlands zone, any deposit being about as likely to be it as the zone's own ore. On the farming guide's Revendreth route the deposits came back so quickly that a short loop was nearly always enough.
Gather Mining route, Bastion Mining. At places five deposits show on the minimap at once, guarded by mobs a max-level character clears on the way. The area holds only friendly mobs and no ore until the Bastion story campaign has moved on far enough.
Needs Mining; Shadowlands ore has no ranks, only skill, and the Shadowlands Gathering glove enchant cuts each node from 3.2 to 1.7 seconds. Blacksmithing needs 360, Engineering 330 and Jewelcrafting 400. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Elethium Deposits, The Maw Mining. Every deposit in the Maw is Elethium, so nowhere else comes close. Take the farming guide's longer route, the one through the mob-dense area, since the mobs are no obstacle and it adds deposits.
Gather Any Shadowlands deposit, Revendreth Mining. Elsewhere, ordinary deposits give one to three Elethium less than one time in twenty, so mine wherever deposits are thickest, the quick-respawning Revendreth route above all, while farming other ores.
Needs Mining. The Maw opens through the Shadowlands story, and mounts work there only after Who is the Maw Walker?, part of the chain that starts with The First Move. Elethium Deposits also appear now and then in elite areas of the other zones. Blacksmithing needs 30. Easy to buy, too.
  • 100 × Solenium Ore
Gather Mining route, Bastion Mining. Solenium is found only in Bastion. On the farming guide's first route up to five deposits show at once and come back fast, with hostile guards a max-level character simply kills. The area has no ore until the Bastion story campaign is far enough along.
Gather Second mining route, Bastion Mining. Very nearly as good, and a third route is there if both are taken.
Needs Mining; Shadowlands ore has no ranks, only skill. About half of Bastion's deposits are Laestrite instead, which the same route gathers too. Blacksmithing needs 100. Easy to buy, too.
  • 100 × Oxxein Ore
Gather Mining route, Maldraxxus Mining. Oxxein is found only in Maldraxxus. The farming guide's two routes give about the same; its first is a little shorter, and the mobs along it are no trouble at max level.
Gather Second mining route, Maldraxxus Mining. Just as good, for when the first route has company.
Needs Mining; Shadowlands ore has no ranks, only skill. About half of Maldraxxus's deposits are Laestrite instead, which the same routes gather too. Blacksmithing needs 100. Easy to buy, too.
  • 100 × Phaedrum Ore
Gather Loop round the middle of the zone, Ardenweald Mining. Phaedrum is found only in Ardenweald, and the farming guide's loop round the centre of the zone gave it the most ore.
Gather Loop of the other side, out to the edges, Ardenweald Mining. The guide's second loop covers the rest of the zone and can be stretched out to the mob-crowded edges, which is no problem for a max-level character.
Needs Mining; Shadowlands ore has no ranks, only skill. About half of Ardenweald's deposits are Laestrite instead, which the same loops gather too. Blacksmithing needs 100. Easy to buy, too.
  • 100 × Sinvyr Ore
Gather Mining route, Revendreth Mining. Sinvyr is found only in Revendreth. On the farming guide's first route the deposits respawned so fast that a short loop was nearly always enough.
Gather Second mining route, Revendreth Mining. No ore grows on the zone's upper levels, so this route packs in more deposits than most zones' routes do; the mobs on it, hard to avoid, are no trouble at max level.
Needs Mining; Shadowlands ore has no ranks, only skill. About half of Revendreth's deposits are Laestrite instead, which the same routes gather too. Blacksmithing needs 100. Easy to buy, too.
  • Buy Distributor Au'til, Hall of Shapes, Oribos The blacksmithing supply vendor, about thirty yards west of the trainer Smith Au'berk; he has the Blacksmith Hammer too. Buy the whole amount in one go.
Buy Distributor Au'burk, Hall of Shapes, Oribos The engineering supply vendor stocks it too, beside Machinist's Oil.
Shadowlands Blacksmithing goes through 580, since almost every recipe takes some; Shadowlands Engineering needs 30.

As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • Gather Draconium Deposits on a mining loop, The Waking Shore, The Azure Span or Ohn'ahran Plains Mining. Draconium is the less common Dragon Isles ore but is found all over the isles, so any loop through the zones the mining guide routes through gathers it; Rich deposits give extra ore.
Needs Mining. The guides list one quality rank's item id, but any rank will do: they say quality does not matter for leveling. Blacksmithing needs 300, Engineering 42 and Enchanting 3, for a Runed Draconium Rod. The mining guide does not rank the zones. Easy to buy, too.
  • 650 × Serevite Ore
Gather Serevite Deposits on a mining loop, The Waking Shore, The Azure Span or Ohn'ahran Plains Mining. The common Dragon Isles ore, in deposits everywhere, so any loop through the zones the mining guide routes through fills the bags; Rich deposits give extra ore.
Needs Mining. The guides list one quality rank's item id, but any rank will do: they say quality does not matter for leveling. Blacksmithing needs 650 and Engineering 125, 100 of them for Handfuls of Serevite Bolts. The mining guide does not rank the zones. Easy to buy, too.
  • 170 × Primal Flux
Buy Kognir, Valdrakken The blacksmithing supply vendor in Valdrakken, handy when leveling there; any Dragon Isles blacksmithing supply vendor sells it too.
Its tooltip says Blacksmithing vendors sell it. The Blacksmithing guide counts 170 but leaves the flux out of its recipe lines, though most of its Draconium and Explorer's recipes take some, so buy the whole stack at once. Smelting Primal Molten Alloy yourself takes four more per smelt.
  • Craft Smelted by a blacksmith, Dragon Isles A Blacksmithing recipe the Dragon Isles trainers teach; each smelt gives two bars. Every input but the flux is farmed: the Awakened Earth and Fire from Rousing elementals on the Waking Shore, the ores from any Dragon Isles mining loop. From 1 × Awakened Earth, 1 × Awakened Fire, 4 × Primal Flux, 4 × Draconium Ore, 4 × Khaz'gorite Ore (Blacksmithing). 2 bars per smelt.
The Blacksmithing guide buys it ready-made, so its ore and flux counts leave it out: its 168 go into Primal Molten Vambraces at 65 to 100, fourteen each, and smelting them yourself takes 84 smelts, so 84 each of Awakened Earth and Awakened Fire and 336 each of Primal Flux, Draconium Ore and Khaz'gorite Ore. The guides list one quality rank's item id, but any rank will do. Easy to buy, too.

  • 565 × Bismuth
Gather Mining loops, Isle of Dorn, The Ringing Deeps, Azj-Kahet or Hallowfall Mining. The commonest metal in Khaz Algar, found across all four zones, so any of the mining guide's loops fills bags; its author used the long loop round the edge of the Isle of Dorn most. Rich deposits give extra ore.
Needs Mining; a Phial of Truesight shows camouflaged deposits, about a fifth more. That it is found everywhere is from the Mining specialization's own description of it; the guide does not rank the zones. Any quality rank will do; the guides say quality does not matter. Blacksmithing needs 565, 480 of them for Core Alloy; Jewelcrafting 270, 145 of them to prospect; Engineering 260, 180 of them for Handfuls of Bismuth Bolts. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Mining loops, Isle of Dorn Mining. A rarer ore than Bismuth that turns up in all four Khaz Algar zones but mostly near or on the surface, which makes the Isle of Dorn, the one zone above ground, the place to loop; the mining guide's author ran the long loop round its edge most.
Needs Mining; a Phial of Truesight shows camouflaged deposits, about a fifth more, and Rich deposits give extra ore. Where it is commonest is from the Mining specialization's own description of it; the guide's routes take Ironclaw along with everything else. Any quality rank will do. Blacksmithing lists 63 to reach 65, though its steps (Ironclaw weapons and one Ironclaw Alloy) add up to 56, and 40 more for Sanctified Alloys if you take that optional step. Easy to buy, too.
  • 5 × Aqirite
Gather Mining loops, Azj-Kahet Mining. A rarer ore than Bismuth, found in all four Khaz Algar zones but more and more of it the closer you get to Azj-Kahet, so loop the nerubian zone; the mining guide maps two routes there, the longer one covering most of it.
Needs Mining; a Phial of Truesight shows camouflaged deposits, about a fifth more, and Rich deposits give extra ore. Where it is commonest is from the Mining specialization's own description of it; the guide's routes take Aqirite along with everything else. Any quality rank will do. Engineering needs 22, for Gyrating Gears and Safety Switches; Blacksmithing 5, for one Charged Alloy. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Crystallized ore, Khaz Algar Crystallized is one of the empowered deposit types that replace ordinary Khaz Algar ore at random, so there is no set route: run any of the mining guide's loops and mine every Crystallized deposit you see.
Gather Crystallized herbs, Khaz Algar Herbalists get it from the matching empowered herb, which turns up the same way along any herb loop; a dual gatherer picks it up from both.
Needs Mining or Herbalism; a Phial of Truesight shows the camouflaged nodes as well, about a fifth more to pick. Picking a Crystallized node also shields you from the poison of Weeping ore and Altered herbs. Blacksmithing lists 40, 17 of them for Forged Frameworks, which can take a few extra as they turn yellow; Engineering 4, for Safety Switches. Easy to buy, too.
  • 494 × Echoing Flux not in the guide's list
Buy Borgos, the Blacksmithing supplies vendor, The Foregrounds, Dornogal He stands in the Foregrounds building near the Blacksmithing trainer and crafting table, where the guide is crafted anyway; Shift-click buys it by the stack, since the guide goes through hundreds.
The Blacksmithing guide needs 494: 384 for the 48 Core Alloys at 1–15, 10 for one Ironclaw Alloy and one Charged Alloy, and 100 for the 20 Sanctified Alloys of the optional 65–75 step. It is not on the guide's shopping list because the vendor sells it.

Midnight Blacksmithing 1–100 7 materials

Estimated materials

As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • Gather Mining loops, Voidstorm Mining. Every Midnight ore grows in every zone, and Voidstorm has the most deposits; fly round its edge with passes through the middle and take every node you pass.
Gather Southern coast, Zul'Aman Mining. Deposits run thick along Zul'Aman's southern coast. Wild deposits there spawn Rumbling Orelings: kill them and mine the bodies for more ore.
Gather Edge of the zone, Eversong Woods Mining. Plenty of deposits around the zone's rim, and the easiest of the four to fly; one loop round the edge with short detours into the middle.
Needs Mining. Any quality rank will do; the guides say quality does not matter. Blacksmithing smelts it, five to an ingot: 125 for the first 25 ingots, plus 500 if you smelt the 100 ingots the 1–50 crafts need rather than buy them, and 750 more for the 150 ingots of 50–70. Engineering wants 145, for Song Gears and Soul Sprockets; Jewelcrafting 5, and it prospects it too. Easy to buy, too.
  • Craft Blacksmithing Blacksmiths smelt it, five ore to an ingot; the Midnight guide's first step is smelting 25 for skill 1 to 15, and it says to smelt any extra ore you bought instead of ingots. From 5 × Refulgent Copper Ore (Mining).
Smelting is Blacksmithing in Midnight, not Mining. The guide wants 100 for first crafts to 50 and 150 for the 50 Sterling Alloys of 50–70, bought or smelted, whichever is cheaper. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Mining loops, Voidstorm Mining. Silver deposits turn up in every Midnight zone beside the copper and tin, and Voidstorm has the most deposits of any; fly its edge and middle and mine everything.
Gather Southern coast, Zul'Aman Mining. A dense run of deposits along the southern shore; the Rumbling Orelings that Wild deposits spawn can be mined after you kill them, for extra ore.
Needs Mining. Silver is the higher-skill deposit: it keeps giving Mining skill to 75, and its Rich deposits and Seams beyond. Any quality rank will do; the guides say quality does not matter. Blacksmithing wants 306: 6 for first crafts to 50 and 300 for the 50 Sterling Alloys of 50–70. Jewelcrafters prospect it for Sanguine Garnet and Amani Lapis. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Mining loops, Voidstorm Mining. Tin, like every Midnight ore, is found in all the zones, and Voidstorm has the most deposits; circle its edge, cut through the middle and mine all you pass.
Gather Southern coast, Zul'Aman Mining. The southern shore is lined with deposits, and the Rumbling Orelings that Wild deposits release can be killed and mined for still more ore.
Needs Mining. Any quality rank will do; the guides say quality does not matter. Engineering wants 155, for Song Gears and Soul Sprockets; Blacksmithing 6 and Jewelcrafting 5 for first crafts. Jewelcrafters prospect it for Harandar Peridot and Tenebrous Amethyst. Easy to buy, too.
  • Salvage Prospecting Midnight ore, Voidstorm, Zul'Aman, Eversong Woods or Harandar Jewelcrafting. Every prospect of five Midnight ore gives it, whichever ore, alongside Crystalline Glass; so prospect the cheapest, Refulgent Copper, mined in any zone, Voidstorm having the most deposits.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it. Method adds that crushing a single uncut gem also gives one. Wowhead spells it Dusk-Shrouded Stone; the guides write Duskshrouded. Jewelcrafting wants 7, Blacksmithing and Inscription 1 each (Inscription's goes into a Soul Cipher). Easy to buy, too.
  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 150 × Refulgent Copper Ingot
    • 750 × Refulgent Copper Ore

Buy Blacksmithing supplies vendor, by the trainer, Silvermoon City The supplies vendor next to Bemarrin, the Midnight Blacksmithing trainer, sells it along with the Blacksmith Hammer; buy all 200 there before starting, since the guide crafts beside him anyway.
The Blacksmithing guide wants 200, four for each of the 50 Sterling Alloys of 50–70. The item says it is sold by Blacksmithing vendors; the guide does not name the vendor.
