Leatherworking leveling materials

For each expansion: the materials a good leveling guide uses, added up, and where a max-level character gets each one. The crafts themselves are in the guide, linked under each list.

Classic Leatherworking 1–300 15 materials

Estimated materials

As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • Gather Stonetusk Boars at the Maclure Vineyards, Elwynn Forest Skinning. Low-level beasts like these boars give lots of scraps with their Light Leather, and they respawn so fast that two or three corpses are usually waiting at each spot; shoot them down with ranged attacks as you move between skins.
Needs Skinning. Three scraps make one Light Leather: Leatherworking's first recipe turns the 57 into 19 for skill 1 to 20, and a skinner can also combine them from the item itself. With no scraps, the guide starts with Light Armor Kits instead. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Ebon Slavehunters on the road east of Greenwarden's Grove, Wetlands Skinning. Hides come now and then from beasts that give Medium Leather, so pick them up while farming the Medium Leather the guide needs anyway, at its best spot: AoE the fight on this road and skin the Slavehunters, who are back within moments.
Needs Skinning. That Medium Hide comes from skinning Medium Leather beasts is from game knowledge; no guide names a spot or a rate for the hide itself. Only 15 are needed, cured with Salt into Cured Medium Hides at 100. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Marsh Crocolisks, Silverpine Forest Skinning. The spot that gave the most Light Leather: four or five crocolisks are always there, and a new one appears almost as soon as one dies.
Gather Stonetusk Boars at the Maclure Vineyards, Elwynn Forest The boars come back so quickly that a character who kills each in one hit never stops; many of the skins are Ruined Leather Scraps, three of which make one Light Leather.
Gather Ebon Slavehunters on the road east of Greenwarden's Grove, Wetlands Three Dragonmaw Whelpstealers fight two Ebon Slavehunters here: AoE all five, skin the two Slavehunters, and new ones stand there before you finish. They give more Medium Leather than Light, which the guide needs next anyway.
Needs Skinning. Three Ruined Leather Scraps also make one Light Leather, Leatherworking's first recipe. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Basilisks in and around their cave, Cape of Stranglethorn Skinning. Ironjaw and Thrashtail Basilisks: half of them fill the cave, so pull the whole cave in one go, and the ones outside are back by the time you come out. More beasts roam north of the Gurubashi Arena.
Gather Ebon Slavehunters on the road east of Greenwarden's Grove, Wetlands Skinning. The slavehunters are locked in a running fight with Dragonmaw Whelpstealers and respawn very quickly.
Gather Black Dragon Whelps in the Charred Vale, Stonetalon Mountains Skinning. The whelps stand in threes, so gather several packs and kill them all at once.
Needs Skinning, at about 140 Classic Skinning, or you get lower leathers. Easy to buy, too.
  • 20 × Heavy Hide
Gather Bats, scorpions and basilisks in Uldaman, Badlands Skinning. The hide turns up now and then on the beasts that give Heavy Leather, and Uldaman's beasts are the best Heavy Leather farm: gather them all, kill them in one spot, skin, then reset and go again, up to ten runs an hour. 3 to 5 in every 100 skins.
Gather Feral Scar and Rage Scar Yetis, Feralas Skinning. The yetis come back quickly, so a loop of their slopes keeps a steady flow of Heavy Leather with the odd hide among it.
Needs Skinning, at about 180 Classic Skinning, or you get lower leathers. Only 20 are needed, cured with 60 Salt into Cured Heavy Hides at skill 155, so collect them while farming the Heavy Leather. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Bats, scorpions and basilisks in Uldaman, Badlands Skinning. Round up every beast in the dungeon, kill them all in one place and skin them. Leave by the Echomok Cavern exit, which is nearer, reset from your portrait and go again, up to ten runs an hour. about 35 per run, 350 an hour.
Gather Feral Scar and Rage Scar Yetis, Feralas Skinning. The yetis give almost nothing but Heavy Leather, respawn fast and drop cloth instead of grey junk.
Gather Raptors, dragonkin and crocolisks across the marsh, Dustwallow Marsh Skinning. The marsh is crowded with beasts; sweep through, gathering everything you pass, and skin the lot.
Needs Skinning, at about 180 Classic Skinning, or you get lower leathers. Leatherworking uses 220 from skill 155, five of which the guide has you make from Medium Leather. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Bloodhounds in Blackrock Depths, Blackrock Mountain Skinning. Gather the Bloodhounds in two or more pulls rather than the whole dungeon at once, since bodies vanish before you can skin them all; then reset and go again, up to ten runs an hour. about 50 per run.
Gather Sunken Temple (Temple of Atal'Hakkar), Swamp of Sorrows Skinning. Pull everything up to the dragon bosses and skin it, then take the rest on the way out. Half of the leather is Rugged, which the guide's last steps need anyway. about 60 leathers a run, half of them Rugged.
Gather Nyxondra's Broodlings near New Kargath, Badlands Skinning. The whelps stand a few steps apart and are back before you finish the area; nine skins in ten are Thick Leather.
Needs Skinning, at about 240 Classic Skinning, or you get lower leathers. Leatherworking needs 410 between skill 200 and 250. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Onyxian Warders in Onyxia's Lair, Dustwallow Marsh Skinning. Kill the four Onyxian Warders, skin them, leave Onyxia alive so the trash comes back, then reset the instance and go again, up to ten runs an hour. Some skins give Rugged Hide instead, but over ten runs nothing beats it. up to 20 per Warder.
Gather Ice Thistle Yetis in their cave, Winterspring Skinning. The yetis crowd together in and around their cave, ideal for big pulls; only about 60% of skins are Rugged Leather, the rest Thick Leather.
Gather Beasts in the old Blasted Lands, Blasted Lands Skinning. Ashmane Boars, Snickerfang Hyenas, felhounds and other beasts; Zidormi in the north has to show you the old Blasted Lands first.
Needs Skinning, at about 280 Classic Skinning or you get lower leathers. If skinned Warders give nothing, learning Outland Skinning from Seymour in Shattrath fixes it for most people. Easy to buy, too.
  • 115 × Coarse Thread not in the guide's list
Buy Leatherworking supplies vendor by the trainer, Any old capital The leatherworking supplier next to the leatherworking trainer sells it, along with the Fine Thread, dyes and Salt of the later steps; a guard will point you to the trainer.
Leatherworking needs 115 between skill 30 and 100, so buy them in one trip. Tailoring supply vendors sell it as well, from game knowledge.
  • 75 × Salt not in the guide's list
Buy Leatherworking supplies vendor by the trainer, Any old capital The supplier who stands beside the leatherworking trainer sells it with the threads and dyes; ask a guard in any old-world capital for the leatherworking trainer.
The 75 cure hides: one each for the 15 Medium Hides at 100 and three each for the 20 Heavy Hides at 155.
  • 122 × Fine Thread not in the guide's list
Buy Leatherworking supplies vendor by the trainer, Any old capital Sold by the leatherworking supplier next to the leatherworking trainer, along with the Coarse Thread, Salt and dyes; a guard in any old-world capital will point the way.
Leatherworking needs 122 between skill 115 and 190, so buy them all at once. Tailoring supply vendors sell it as well, from game knowledge.
  • 31 × Gray Dye not in the guide's list
Buy Leatherworking supplies vendor by the trainer, Any old capital The supplier beside the leatherworking trainer sells it with the threads and Salt; a guard in any old-world capital will point you to the trainer.
Leatherworking needs 31 between skill 115 and 145, one for each Dark Leather Boots and Dark Leather Belt, so buy them in one trip. Tailoring supply vendors sell it as well, from game knowledge.
  • 145 × Silken Thread not in the guide's list
Buy Leatherworking supplies vendor by the trainer, Any old capital Sold by the supplier who stands next to the leatherworking trainer, along with the other threads, dyes and Salt; ask a guard in any old-world capital for the trainer.
Leatherworking needs 145 between skill 190 and 250, most of them for the Nightscape Headbands and Pants, so buy them all at once. Tailoring supply vendors sell it as well, from game knowledge.
  • 35 × Black Dye not in the guide's list
Buy Leatherworking supplies vendor by the trainer, Any old capital The supplier next to the leatherworking trainer sells it with the threads and Salt; a guard in any old-world capital will show you where the trainer stands.
Leatherworking needs 35 between skill 265 and 300, one for each Wicked Leather Bracers and Headband. Tailoring supply vendors sell it as well, from game knowledge.
  • 35 × Rune Thread not in the guide's list
Buy Leatherworking supplies vendor by the trainer, Any old capital The supplier beside the leatherworking trainer sells it with the other threads and dyes; ask a guard in any old-world capital for the trainer.
Leatherworking needs 35 for the Classic guide (skill 265 to 300) and 60 more for the Outland guide's Thick Draenic Vests (35 to 50), which also sends you to the supplier by the trainer, so buy all 95 at once if you level both. Tailoring supply vendors sell it as well, from game knowledge.

The Burning Crusade Leatherworking 1–75 4 materials

Estimated materials

As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • Gather Karazhan, the bats and fel hounds right of the entrance, Deadwind Pass Skinning. Go right past the spiders and kill every bat and fel hound, in two pulls so the first corpses are still there to skin; leave the bosses alone, then reset from your portrait and go again, up to ten times an hour. A run takes about four minutes. 45 to 50 a run, about 500 an hour.
Gather Beasts around the Eco-Dome Midrealm and the Stormspire, Netherstorm Skinning. Ripfang Lynxes and Barbscale Crocolisks crowd the Eco-Dome Midrealm, Talbuk Does and Sires graze around the Stormspire, and Scythetooth Raptors roam further north.
Needs Skinning; learn Outland Skinning first from Seymour in Shattrath City (or at Honor Hold or Thrallmar), or far fewer leathers drop. Leatherworkers turn Knothide Leather Scraps into leather with a spell in the profession book. Most of Leatherworking's 1,340 go into 246 Heavy Knothide Leather. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Clefthoof Bulls around Garadar, Nagrand Skinning. Plenty of bulls wander the land around Garadar, and the bulls give it more often than any other clefthoof.
Gather Clefthoofs east of Oshu'gun, Nagrand Skinning. Fewer bulls, but the ordinary Clefthoofs and Clefthoof Calves there move in packs that go down to one round of AoE; they give it less often than the bulls.
Needs Skinning; learn Outland Skinning from Seymour in Shattrath City first, or far fewer leathers drop. Leatherworking needs 32, for eight Drums of Battle. Easy to buy, too.
  • 32 × Fel Hide
Gather Artifact Seekers in the Arklon Ruins, Netherstorm Skinning. The Artifact Seekers give it more often than anything else and come back quickly.
Gather Warp Chasers around Manaforge Duro, Netherstorm Skinning. Just as good a chance and just as quick to respawn; they only slip out of sight now and then.
Needs Skinning; learn Outland Skinning from Seymour in Shattrath City first, or far fewer leathers drop. Leatherworking needs 32, for eight Drums of Panic. Easy to buy, too.
  • 60 × Rune Thread not in the guide's list
Buy Leatherworking supplies vendor by the trainer, Any old capital The supplier beside the leatherworking trainer sells it with the other threads and dyes; ask a guard in any old-world capital for the trainer.
Leatherworking needs 35 for the Classic guide (skill 265 to 300) and 60 more for the Outland guide's Thick Draenic Vests (35 to 50), which also sends you to the supplier by the trainer, so buy all 95 at once if you level both. Tailoring supply vendors sell it as well, from game knowledge.

Wrath of the Lich King Leatherworking 1–75 8 materials

Estimated materials

As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • 1,982 × Borean Leather
Gather The Ruby Sanctum (raid), Dragonblight Skinning. The best spot: set the legacy raid size to 25-player, which has more mobs, and kill the trash in two batches so the corpses do not vanish before you skin them. Leave Baltharus the Warborn and Saviana Ragefire alive, or the raid cannot be reset; up to ten resets an hour.
Gather Wooly Rhino Matriarchs and Calves around Warsong Hold, Borean Tundra Skinning. Where to go once the instance limit is used up: the rhino packs north and south of Warsong Hold come back quickly, and the northern side is the better one.
Gather Gundrak (dungeon, Normal), Zul'Drak Skinning. Kill only the Unyielding Constrictors in the first part, run out and reset, about three or four minutes a run; the Gundrak Raptors outside often give two or three leather each while you wait out the limit.
Needs Skinning; learn Northrend Skinning (Derik Marks in Northrend's Dalaran) or you get fewer. Skinning also gives Borean Leather Scraps: leatherworkers should turn them into leather with the trainer's recipe, which gives skill points, not by right-clicking them. Leatherworking needs 1,982, 1,800 of them for 300 Heavy Borean Leather at six each; Engineering 14. Easy to buy, too.
  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 65 × Crystallized Water
    • 65 × Crystallized Shadow
    • Farm Boiling Spirits around their pool, Borean Tundra The best source. The pool never has fewer than five or six spirits, so new ones appear as fast as you kill them.
Farm Halls of Lightning, The Storm Peaks Gather each room into one pull, loot, and once the room before the second boss is down, step out and reset from your portrait, up to ten times an hour. A little less Water than the pool but far less effort, and Crystallized Fire drops here too.
Buy Frozo the Renowned, Dalaran, Northrend He trades an Eternal Water for one Frozen Orb, and an Eternal Water splits into ten Crystallized Water, so Engineering's 40 is four orbs. The orbs cost 75 gold from Arcanist Ivrenne (Alliance) or Magistrix Lambriesse (Horde) in Northrend's Dalaran, not the Broken Isles one.
Engineering lists 40 (its own steps use 35: Volatile Blasting Triggers, Froststeel Tubes and Mana Injector Kits); Leatherworking 65 only if it makes Dark Frostscale Leggings rather than Dark Iceborne Leggings, which take Crystallized Shadow. Ten make an Eternal Water. Easy to buy, too.
    • Farm Deathbringer Revenants in the Frostmourne Cavern, Dragonblight The best source. The cave always keeps four revenants up, and a new one appears the moment one dies, so there is no waiting.
Farm Wandering Shadows, Wintergrasp The second choice. While your faction holds Wintergrasp, Shadow Revenants stand here too and drop one to three each.
Buy Frozo the Renowned, Dalaran, Northrend He trades an Eternal Shadow for one Frozen Orb, and an Eternal Shadow splits into ten Crystallized Shadow. The orbs cost 75 gold from Arcanist Ivrenne (Alliance) or Magistrix Lambriesse (Horde) in Northrend's Dalaran, not the Broken Isles one.
Leatherworking needs 65 only if it makes 13 Dark Iceborne Leggings at 35 to 45 rather than Dark Frostscale Leggings, which take Crystallized Water; its 50 Eternal Shadow for Trollwoven Girdles are another 500 Crystallized Shadow from the same cave. Ten make an Eternal Shadow. Easy to buy, too.
  • Craft From your bags, Northrend Using ten Crystallized Water turns them into one Eternal Water; no profession is needed. Farm the Crystallized Water in one of the two places below. From 10 × Crystallized Water (Combine (no profession)).
Farm Boiling Spirits around their pool, Borean Tundra The best source of Crystallized Water: five or six spirits are always at the pool, and they come back as fast as they die.
Farm Halls of Lightning, The Storm Peaks Pull each room into one fight up to the room before the second boss, then step out, reset from your portrait and go again, up to ten times an hour. Slightly fewer than the pool but much less work, and Crystallized Fire comes with it.
Frozo the Renowned in Northrend's Dalaran (not the Broken Isles one) trades one Eternal Water for one Frozen Orb, and the orbs cost 75 gold from Arcanist Ivrenne in the Silver Enclave (Alliance) or Magistrix Lambriesse in Sunreaver's Sanctuary (Horde). Leatherworking needs 18, for Overcast Bracers and Overcast Handwraps; Engineering two, for the Wormhole Generator: Northrend. Easy to buy, too.
  • 15 × Frozen Orb
Buy Arcanist Ivrenne (Alliance) or Magistrix Lambriesse (Horde), Dalaran, Northrend Both Legacy Justice Quartermasters sell it for 75 gold, by far the quickest way. They are in Northrend's Dalaran, not the Broken Isles one: Ivrenne upstairs in the Silver Enclave, Lambriesse in Sunreaver's Sanctuary.
Farm Last boss of any Wrath of the Lich King dungeon on Heroic, Northrend The final bosses of Northrend's dungeons drop it on Heroic difficulty. A max-level character clears one in a few minutes, but each dungeon gives only one run a day, so buying is faster for any number.
Jewelcrafting needs 15, for Icy Prisms at 70 to 75; Leatherworking 15, five for Frosthide or Icescale Leg Armor and ten for Trollwoven Girdles. Fifteen cost 1,125 gold. Frozo the Renowned, also in Northrend's Dalaran, trades one orb for any Eternal element. That a Heroic dungeon can be run once a day is from game knowledge. Easy to buy, too.
  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 10 × Nerubian Chitin
    • 10 × Icy Dragonscale
    • Gather Azjol-Nerub (dungeon), Dragonblight Skinning. Nerubian Chitin is skinned from Northrend's nerubians, and this short dungeon is Anub'ar nerubians from door to door: gather each room into one pull, skin everything, reset and go again.
Needs Skinning. Wowpedia adds that ten Nerubian Chitin Fragments, which also come from skinning, make one with a Northrend Leatherworking recipe. Leatherworking needs ten only if it makes five Frosthide Leg Armor at 60 to 65; Icescale Leg Armor takes Icy Dragonscale instead, so get whichever is easier. That the Anub'ar in Azjol-Nerub can be skinned is from game knowledge; no source names a farm spot. Easy to buy, too.
    • Gather The Ruby Sanctum (raid), Dragonblight Skinning. Icy Dragonscale is skinned from Northrend's dragonkin, and the Charscale dragonspawn that fill this raid are the Borean Leather guide's best skinning spot, so one run gives both. Set the legacy raid size to 25-player, kill the trash in two batches, and leave Baltharus the Warborn and Saviana Ragefire alive so the raid can be reset.
Needs Skinning. Wowpedia adds that ten Icy Dragonscale Fragments, which also come from skinning, make one with a Northrend Leatherworking recipe. Leatherworking needs ten only if it makes five Icescale Leg Armor at 60 to 65; Frosthide Leg Armor takes Nerubian Chitin instead, so get whichever is easier. That the Charscale skins give Icy Dragonscale is worked out from Wowpedia, not stated by any guide. Easy to buy, too.
  • Craft From your bags, Northrend Using ten Crystallized Shadow turns them into one Eternal Shadow; no profession is needed. Farm the Crystallized Shadow in one of the two places below. From 10 × Crystallized Shadow (Combine (no profession)).
Farm Deathbringer Revenants in the Frostmourne Cavern, Dragonblight The best source of Crystallized Shadow: the cave always holds four revenants, and each one killed is replaced at once.
Farm Wandering Shadows, Wintergrasp The second spot. While your faction holds Wintergrasp, Shadow Revenants here drop one to three Crystallized Shadow each.
Frozo the Renowned in Northrend's Dalaran (not the Broken Isles one) trades one Eternal Shadow for one Frozen Orb, and the orbs cost 75 gold from Arcanist Ivrenne in the Silver Enclave (Alliance) or Magistrix Lambriesse in Sunreaver's Sanctuary (Horde). Leatherworking needs 50, for ten Trollwoven Girdles; Engineering lists nine, though its steps use seven (five Mechanized Snow Goggles, two for the Wormhole Generator: Northrend); Jewelcrafting 23 only if it makes Shadowmight Rings instead of Stoneguard Bands. Easy to buy, too.
  • Craft From your bags, Northrend Using ten Crystallized Fire turns them into one Eternal Fire; no profession is needed. Farm the Crystallized Fire in one of the two places below. From 10 × Crystallized Fire (Combine (no profession)).
Farm Halls of Lightning, The Storm Peaks Pull each room into one fight, loot, and move on; after the room before the second boss, step out, reset from your portrait and go again, up to ten times an hour. Slightly fewer Crystallized Fire than the cave below, but far less effort, and Crystallized Water drops here too.
Farm Frostfloe Deep, The Storm Peaks The guide's best spot for Crystallized Fire: this cave always has a few Wailing Winds standing in it, so there is never a wait.
Frozo the Renowned in Northrend's Dalaran (not the Broken Isles one) trades one Eternal Fire for one Frozen Orb, and the orbs cost 75 gold from Arcanist Ivrenne in the Silver Enclave (Alliance) or Magistrix Lambriesse in Sunreaver's Sanctuary (Horde). Leatherworking needs 50, for ten Trollwoven Girdles; Engineering two, for the Wormhole Generator: Northrend; Alchemy five only if it picks Transmute: Earthsiege Diamond. Easy to buy, too.
  • 12 × Arctic Fur
Buy Braeg Stoutbeard, Dalaran, Northrend He trades one Arctic Fur for ten Heavy Borean Leather, and stands in front of the leatherworking trainer's building in Northrend's Dalaran. Heavy Borean Leather is a leatherworking craft of six Borean Leather each, so farm Borean Leather in the Ruby Sanctum and pay with that.
Gather Wooly Rhinos around Warsong Hold, Borean Tundra Skinning. Any beast in Northrend can very rarely give one, so it is a bonus while skinning the fast-respawning rhino packs for Borean Leather, not something to farm for.
Leatherworking needs 12: ten for five Frosthide or Icescale Leg Armor at 60 to 65, and two to buy the Trollwoven Girdle pattern from Braeg. Bought, that is 120 Heavy Borean Leather, 720 Borean Leather more than the guide's list. Easy to buy, too.

Estimated materials

As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • 1,565 × Savage Leather
Gather Firelands, Mount Hyjal Skinning. The best spot: kill the scorpions, turtles and core hounds inside the raid in two pulls rather than one, so no corpse vanishes before you skin it, then leave, reset and go again, up to ten runs an hour. The turtles in the big lava pool are more trouble than they are worth.
Gather Baradin Crocolisks, Tol Barad A good open-world spot with plenty of crocolisks to skin, and they drop Crocolisk Tail for the Cooking guide as well.
Gather Darkwood Lurkers and Broodmothers, Tol Barad Peninsula The spiders here are the other good spot if Tol Barad is busy.
Learn Cataclysm Skinning from any skinning trainer in the old capitals before you start, or you get far less. Five Savage Leather Scraps make one Savage Leather, and five Savage Leather make one Heavy Savage Leather; 1,200 of the guide's 1,565 become its 240 Heavy Savage Leather at 35 to 40. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Pools of Fire in the lava, Twilight Highlands Fishing, at any skill. The pools are rings of flame on the lava, two at most at a time from four spawn points, each good for two to four casts of one or two Volatile Fire; between pools, kill the Enslaved Infernos nearby, which drop it 14% of the time. Mount Hyjal has Pools of Fire too. over 100 an hour.
Farm Flame Ascendants, Mount Hyjal Eight or nine of them spawn close together, have little health and return quickly; gather the lot, kill them and circle back as they reappear.
Farm Unbound Emberfiends, Twilight Highlands The mob spot to use instead of the pools when other players have them.
The most-wanted Cataclysm volatile: Leatherworking needs 112, Blacksmithing 150 (or Volatile Water instead, or a mix), Jewelcrafting's Vicious Sapphire Necklace 20 and Engineering 15. Pools refill in about 12 to 15 minutes. Flame Terrors and Brimstone Destroyers in Mount Hyjal drop it as well, but appear only after the Guardians of Hyjal: Firelands Invasion! quests. Easy to buy, too.
  • Farm Muddied Water Elementals along the Verrall River, Twilight Highlands The one mob spot the guide names. Turn in the Muddied Waters quest first: players report the elementals drop no Volatile Water while it is in your log. Drops come in streaks, so a dry quarter of an hour is just bad luck.
Gather Fishing pools and open water, Cataclysm zones Fishing. Any fishing pool in a Cataclysm zone can bring it up, and so can casting into open water there.
Blacksmithing needs 150 (or Volatile Fire instead, or a mix), Leatherworking 50, and Jewelcrafting's Vicious Amberjewel Pendant or Vicious Ruby Choker 40 or 30. Where the elementals are is from Wowpedia. Easy to buy, too.
  • Buy Leatherworking supplies vendor, Any capital Trade 10 Heavy Savage Leather for one: Tamar sells it in Orgrimmar and Jillian Tanner in Stormwind, and there is such a vendor in every capital and in Twilight Highlands.
Gather Savage Leather farms, such as Firelands, Mount Hyjal Skinning. A rare extra from any creature of the Cataclysm zones, so a Savage Leather farm such as the Firelands runs turns up a few along the way.
The guide needs 3, for 3 Vicious Hide Cloaks (with 12 Volatile Fire) or Vicious Fur Cloaks (with 12 Volatile Earth) at 57 to 60. Its 1,565 Savage Leather already cover the 30 Heavy Savage Leather the three hides cost, so buying them adds nothing to the list. Easy to buy, too.
  • 35 × Eternium Thread not in the guide's list
Buy Leatherworking supplies vendor by the trainer, Orgrimmar or Stormwind The supplier beside the leatherworking trainer sells it: Tamar in Orgrimmar for the Horde, Jillian Tanner in Stormwind for the Alliance. Buy all 35 in one go, since the same vendor sells the guide's later patterns and Pristine Hide.
Buy Tailoring or trade supplies vendor, Any capital Tailoring suppliers and general trade-goods vendors stock it too, so any capital's crafting quarter has it.
The Cataclysm Leatherworking guide uses 35, all between skill 5 and 45 (Tsunami Boots, Savage Cloak, Darkbrand Boots, Shoulders and Chestguard).

Mists of Pandaria Leatherworking 1–75 2 materials

Estimated materials

As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • Gather Stout Shaghorns on the Skyrange, Valley of the Four Winds Skinning. The best spot: the high ground only a flyer can reach, where the shaghorns roam in packs of six that leave you alone until you strike, and a fresh pack is nearly always up. Pull a whole pack, kill it and skin the lot.
Gather Wyrmhorn Turtles by the small lake, Valley of the Four Winds They come back so quickly you never run out, and the same kills give Raw Turtle Meat for Pandaria Cooking.
Gather Longshadow Mushans and Bulls around the Kri'vess tree, Townlong Steppes A herd big enough to round up in one pull; the mushan drop Mushan Ribs as well.
Needs Skinning. Pandaria Skinning is taught by Trapper Ri (Horde) or Hao of the Stag's Horns (Alliance) in the Jade Forest, or by Mr. Pleeb in the Valley of the Four Winds; you can skin these beasts without it but get less. The guide's 640 covers all of 1 to 75: 40 for Sha Armor Kits, 110 for Misthide Bracers, 48 for Misthide Gloves, 150 for Misthide Chestguards and 288 for Contender's Leather Bracers. Leatherworkers can also make it from Sha-Touched Leather. The farming guide's other spots are the Maturing Raptors on the Isle of Thunder and the scorpions of the Dread Wastes. Easy to buy, too.
  • Farm Heart of Fear (Raid Finder), Dread Wastes Queue through Lorewalker Han, up on the second level of the Seat of Knowledge above Mogu'shan Palace in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Clear the trash of the first two rooms but leave the first boss, then leave the group, reset and go again; a clear takes about two minutes. 8 to 14 Motes of Harmony a run.
Craft From your bags, Pandaria Ten Motes of Harmony combine into one Spirit; no profession is needed. Every mob in Pandaria can drop Motes, dungeon mobs included. From 10 × Mote of Harmony (Combine (no profession)).
    Easy to buy, too.

Warlords of Draenor Leatherworking 1–100 1 material

Estimated materials

Added up from the guide's steps. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • 1,625 × Raw Beast Hide
Gather Tamed Clefthoof at 78.7, 72.2, Nagrand (Draenor) Skinning. Kill the whole pack and one or two fresh clefthoof appear straight away, so you can stand in one place; they give Sumptuous Fur and Raw Clefthoof Meat as well. If the respawn stalls, kill the two near the Gorian gladiators too.
Gather Frost Wolves, Frostfire Ridge Skinning. The wolves come back in about half a minute and also give Sumptuous Fur; when other players crowd them, the Icespine Stingers close by do for hide.
Gather Moonshell Crawlers, Shadowmoon Valley (Draenor) Skinning. They respawn so fast the spot never runs dry; the Spore Drifters in Spires of Arak are a good second choice.
Needs Skinning. Learn A Guide to Skinning in Draenor, a scroll that drops while skinning in Draenor, the moment you have it: it raises the hide each beast gives. The Draenor Leatherworking guide uses 1,625 (275 for Drums of Fury, 1,350 for Leather Refurbishing Kits); its cheaper route through the garrison's Leather Trader takes about 735. Easy to buy, too.

Legion Leatherworking 1–100 2 materials

Estimated materials

Added up from the guide's steps. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • Gather Young Bloodgazers and Bloodgazer Nest-Keepers, Azsuna Skinning. One of the best spots: both come back very fast and the young ones have little health, so round up everything in reach, kill it at once and skin the lot.
Gather Suramar Snarlers and the deer among them, Suramar The snarlers respawn so quickly they never run out. Gather a big pack, deer included since they give Stonehide too, and bring it all down together.
Gather Young Snowfeathers and Snowfeather Nest-Keepers, Highmountain Much like the Azsuna spot, with the same fast respawns, only a little more spread out.
Needs Skinning. Enchant Gloves - Legion Skinning cuts each skin from 1.5 to 0.5 seconds, and the Boon of the Butcher enchant from Ransa Greyfeather in Thunder Totem (Honored with the Highmountain Tribe) sometimes adds Butchered Meat holding extra leather. Several players can tag a Legion beast and all loot it, but one left unlooted by someone else cannot be skinned. The guide's 1110 is 810 for 90 rank 3 Warhide Bindings (1 to 75) and 300 for 25 rank 3 Dreadleather Belts (75 to 100); the guide offers the Stormscale Gravenscale Girdle as the other belt. Easy to buy, too.
  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 25 × Rank 3 - Gravenscale Girdle: 300 × Stormscale, 50 × Blood of Sargeras
    • 25 × Rank 3 - Dreadleather Belt: 300 × Stonehide Leather, 50 × Blood of Sargeras
    • Gather Coldscale Gazecrawlers, Highmountain Skinning. The best spot: so many Gazecrawlers stand together that you never wait for a respawn, so pull a crowd, kill it and skin them all.
Gather Juvenile, Rampaging and Adult Squallhunters, Stormheim All three kinds give Stormscale. Once the lower ground is cleared, more Adult Squallhunters wait up on the mountain.
Gather Meredil Thrashmaws and Lowland Hardshells along the river, Suramar Kill the thrashmaws, then work along the river through the Lowland Hardshells while they respawn, taking the six or seven turtles in the small pool on the way back.
Needs Skinning. The Boon of the Butcher enchant from Ransa Greyfeather in Thunder Totem (Honored with the Highmountain Tribe) sometimes adds Butchered Meat holding extra leather. Several players can tag a Legion beast and all loot it, but one left unlooted by someone else cannot be skinned. The guide's 300 is for 25 rank 3 Gravenscale Girdles with 50 Blood of Sargeras (75 to 100), the other choice being the Stonehide Dreadleather Belt; levelling 1 to 75 with Battlebound Grips instead of Warhide Bindings would take 1080 Stormscale. The farming guide also names the Coastal Snappers and Leysca Scuttlers of the Sundered Shoals in Suramar, though they stand too far apart for big pulls. Easy to buy, too.
    • Gather Herb, ore and skinning nodes, Broken Isles Herbalism, Mining and Skinning on the Broken Isles now and then yield a Blood of Sargeras on top of the usual haul, so it piles up while gathering Legion materials.
Binds when picked up: it cannot be bought or traded, though characters who played Legion often still have a stack. Where it comes from is from game knowledge; the guides cited only say it is bind-on-pickup.

As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • 2,025 × Coarse Leather
Gather Scavenging Boars at Hocking's Plot, Drustvar Skinning. Four or five Scavenging Boars are up here at any time, so sweep the plot, kill them together, skin them all and come round again as new ones appear.
Gather Da'kani Pugilists and other gorillas, Zuldazar Skinning. Gather up the gorillas in the farming guide's area, kill them in one go and skin the pile.
Needs Skinning, called Kul Tiran or Zandalari Skinning. The BfA leatherworking guide takes 2025, and 350 more if you make its first 50 points from Coarse Leather instead of Shimmerscale. Easy to buy, too.
  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 350 × Shimmerscale
    • 350 × Coarse Leather
    • Gather Saltspine Krolusks, Vol'dun Skinning. The krolusks at the farming guide's first spot come back almost as soon as they die, so there is never a lull. When Vol'dun is under assault a world quest sends other players after them too, and their unskinned kills are yours to skin.
Gather Scaleclaw Saurolisks, Vol'dun Skinning. A second Vol'dun spot: round up the saurolisks, kill them together and skin them.
Gather Venomspine Saurolisks, Tiragarde Sound Skinning. The Kul Tiras choice; Shallows Saurolisks in Drustvar do the same job.
Needs Skinning. The BfA leatherworking guide takes 350, for Shimmerscale Armguards and Pauldrons in its first 50 points; as many Coarse Leather will do instead. Easy to buy, too.
    • Gather Scavenging Boars at Hocking's Plot, Drustvar Skinning.
  • Gather Scavenging Boars at Hocking's Plot, Drustvar Skinning. A rarer skin from the same beasts as Coarse Leather, and the farming guide sends you to the same boars: four or five always stand here to kill and skin together.
Gather Da'kani Pugilists and other gorillas, Zuldazar Skinning. The gorilla spot from the Coarse Leather guide works for this too; gather them up and skin every one.
Needs Skinning. The BfA leatherworking guide needs 50, each tanned with an Amber Tanning Oil into Hardened Tempest Hide for 50 to 70; farming Coarse Leather turns them up on the way. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Scavenging Boars at Hocking's Plot, Drustvar Skinning. Bones come with the leather from Kul Tiras and Zandalar beasts, so the best Coarse Leather spot fills both at once: four or five boars are always up to kill and skin together.
Gather Da'kani Pugilists and other gorillas, Zuldazar Skinning. The other Coarse Leather spot; round up the gorillas and skin them all.
Needs Skinning. Wowpedia says only that skinners gather it; that it comes along with Coarse Leather from the same beasts, and so these spots, is from game knowledge. The BfA leatherworking guide takes 550, for its armguards, pauldrons and Drums of the Maelstrom. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Snapdragons at the farming guide's first spot, Nazjatar Skinning. Every kind of Snapdragon here gives it, the babies aside. Many are elites, which a max-level character pulls in bunches and kills as easily as the rest.
Gather Savage Snapdragons at the second spot, Nazjatar Skinning. Clear the naga out first; they are slow to return, while three or four Savage Snapdragons are always up. They stand apart, so expect to ride between them.
Gather Thundermaws, Vale of Eternal Blossoms Skinning. The guide's spot outside Nazjatar, for when Nazjatar is busy.
Needs Skinning. Rank 1 of its skinning technique, which gives more per skin, comes from Rolm (Horde) or Instructor Ulooaka (Alliance) in Nazjatar, once the zone's first quests are done. The BfA leatherworking guide takes 400, for 40 Dredged Leather Bladders at 150 to 175. Easy to buy, too.
  • 50 × Amber Tanning Oil not in the guide's list
Buy Aman de Child, Terrace of Crafters, Dazar'alor The Horde's leatherworking supply vendor, some thirty yards in front of the trainer Xanjo; buy all 50 at once.
Buy Cassandra Brennor, Tradewinds Market, Boralus On the Alliance side the leatherworking trainer sells it herself.
The BfA leatherworking guide needs 50, one for each Hardened Tempest Hide at 50 to 70.
  • 200 × Nylon Thread not in the guide's list
Buy Daniel Brineweaver or the tailoring supply vendor beside him, Tradewinds Market, Boralus The Alliance's Kul Tiran Tailoring trainer sells it, as does the supply vendor next to him; buy the whole stack you need in one go.
Buy Pin'jin the Patient or the tailoring supply vendor beside him, Terrace of Crafters, Dazar'alor The Horde's Zandalari Tailoring trainer and the supply vendor near him both stock it.

Shadowlands Leatherworking 1–100 5 materials

Estimated materials

As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • Gather Gilded Cloudstriders, Bastion Skinning. The best spot: they come back very quickly on both sides of their hill and stand close enough to gather seven or eight at a time, so pull the lot, kill and skin them, then sweep the other side.
Gather Languishing and Starved Etherwyrms, Bastion Skinning. A second Bastion herd, thick enough to round up in big pulls and skin together.
Gather Neonate Bonetooths, Bloodskin Tauralus and Furious Alphahoofs, Maldraxxus Skinning. Follow the farming guide's loop and take six or seven at a time; their extra health makes no difference to a max-level character.
Needs Skinning. Every skinnable beast in the Shadowlands can give all five Shadowlands skins, so this one farm also brings Pallid Bone and Callous Hide. The Shadowlands Gathering glove enchant cuts each skin from 1.5 to 0.5 seconds. The Shadowlands Leatherworking guide needs 655, 240 of which become 24 Heavy Desolate Leather at 70 to 85. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Languishing and Starved Etherwyrms, Bastion Skinning. The farming guide's first spot for bones: a dense herd of etherwyrms to round up, kill together and skin.
Gather Neonate Bonetooths, Bloodskin Tauralus and Furious Alphahoofs, Maldraxxus Skinning. Run the farming guide's loop and pull six or seven at a time; the same kills give Desolate Leather and the odd Callous Hide.
Needs Skinning. Shadowlands skinnable beasts can give all five Shadowlands skins, so a Desolate Leather farm brings bones along. The Shadowlands Leatherworking guide needs only 28, for one Shadowscale Vest and three Shadowscale Leggings at 89 to 100. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Gilded Cloudstriders, Bastion Skinning. A rare skin that any Shadowlands beast can give, so go where the most beasts stand together: these come back fast and can be pulled seven or eight at a time.
Gather Languishing and Starved Etherwyrms, Bastion Skinning. The second Bastion herd, for when the Cloudstriders are thinned out.
Gather Neonate Bonetooths, Bloodskin Tauralus and Furious Alphahoofs, Maldraxxus Skinning. The farming guide's Maldraxxus loop, taken six or seven at a time.
Needs Skinning. It comes far less often than Desolate Leather, so one long leather farm fills both. The Shadowlands Leatherworking guide needs 45: 5 for Shadebound Waistguards and 40 to make four Heavy Callous Hide. Easy to buy, too.
  • Buy Distributor Au'tem, Hall of Shapes, Oribos The Leatherworking supply vendor a few steps east of Tanner Au'qil, the Shadowlands Leatherworking trainer; he sells Penumbra Thread as well.
Its tooltip says Leatherworking vendors sell it. The guide counts 45 but leaves the salt out of most recipe lines, so buy the whole stack in one go.
  • Buy Distributor Au'tem, Hall of Shapes, Oribos He stands right behind Stitcher Au'phes, the Shadowlands Tailoring trainer (around 45, 31); turn your back to the trainer and he is there.
Its tooltip says Tailoring vendors sell it, so Leatherworkers who need it go to the same spot in Oribos.

As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • Gather Ravenous Rockfangs north-east of Timberstep Outpost, Ohn'ahran Plains Skinning. At least three Ravenous Rockfangs are always up in this corner of the plains and they respawn almost at once; gather them with the Bruffalons and Suntuft Bakars around them, kill the lot and skin it.
Gather Ottuks and Crystalspines south-west of Vakthros, The Azure Span Skinning. Wildwater Ottuks and Wild Crystalspines crowd this valley alongside bears, goats and mammoths, and every one of them skins for leather, so pull the whole area together and AoE it down.
Needs Skinning. Dense Hide comes from the same beasts, far less often, and the Azure Herdmares in the Azure Span spot give Adamant Scales. Any quality rank will do; the guide says quality does not matter. The Leatherworking guide wants 600, 400 of them for 25 Pioneer's Practiced Cowls. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Primal Proto-Drakes by Wingrest Embassy, The Waking Shore Skinning. The proto-drakes along the north-east coast come back very quickly; pull a pack, kill it, skin every corpse and go round again.
Gather Shifting Sands, Thaldraszus Skinning. The sands are full of beasts of every kind, most of them skinning for scales and a few for Resilient Leather, so gather big groups and AoE them.
Needs Skinning. Lustrous Scaled Hide comes from the same beasts, far less often. Any quality rank will do. The Leatherworking guide's list says 175, though its own steps add up to about 184. Easy to buy, too.
  • 65 × Dense Hide
Gather Ravenous Rockfangs north-east of Timberstep Outpost, Ohn'ahran Plains Skinning. Any beast that skins for Resilient Leather can give it, only much more rarely, and here the Rockfangs never run out; take the Bruffalons and Suntuft Bakars nearby in the same pulls.
Gather Ottuks and Crystalspines south-west of Vakthros, The Azure Span Skinning. The valley is packed with Wildwater Ottuks, Wild Crystalspines, bears, goats and mammoths, all of which skin for it; round up everything and kill it at once.
Needs Skinning. It comes alongside Resilient Leather at a much lower rate, so one long farm fills both. Any quality rank will do. The Leatherworking guide wants 65, 50 of them for the Pioneer's Practiced Cowls. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Primal Proto-Drakes by Wingrest Embassy, The Waking Shore Skinning. Every beast that skins for Adamant Scales can give it at a much lower rate, and these fast-respawning proto-drakes on the north-east coast let you skin pack after pack.
Gather Shifting Sands, Thaldraszus Skinning. The crowd of scaled beasts here is the second spot; round them up in large pulls and skin them all.
Needs Skinning. It comes alongside Adamant Scales, so one farm fills both. Any quality rank will do. The Leatherworking guide needs 12, two each for six crafts between 20 and 52.

  • Gather Tempest Wolves near Cinderbrew Meadery, Isle of Dorn Skinning. In the north of the island, at about 73.9, 32.6, big packs of elite Tempest Wolves, Cyclonecrier Alphas and Rustcloud Runts roam; a max-level character pulls a whole pack at a time, kills it and skins every wolf.
Gather Shalehorns and Sharpclaws by the Veneration Grounds, Hallowfall Skinning. The far western edge of Hallowfall, at about 26.8, 55.2, is crowded with Shalehorns, Wary Bulls and Feral and Shadowed Sharpclaws; round them up and AoE them.
Needs Skinning. Both spots give Thunderous Hide now and then as well. Any quality rank will do; the guide says quality does not matter. The Leatherworking guide wants 340 to reach 62, and 330 more if you make the Spelunker's Practiced Hats from 62 to 70. Easy to buy, too.
  • 305 × Gloom Chitin
Gather Pillar-Nest Vosh, Azj-Kahet Skinning. Just west of Faerin's Advance in the north of Azj-Kahet, the nest swarms with Spored Skitterers, Lashers and Stingers, all ordinary mobs: gather a big pull, AoE it down and skin the lot.
Gather Mana-Flecked Crawlers north of Dhar Oztan, Isle of Dorn Skinning. A cove on the island's west coast is full of crawlers that respawn quickly; run up and down the shore killing and skinning them.
Needs Skinning. The Pillar-Nest Vosh beasts also give Viridescent Spores and Kaheti Swarm Chitin. wow-professions levels Skinning on the Vigilant Nestguards at a pillar-nest in northern Azj-Kahet. Any quality rank will do; the guide says quality does not matter. The Leatherworking guide wants 305 to reach 62, and 330 more if you make Tracker's Toughened Headgear from 62 to 70. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Pillar-Nest Vosh, Azj-Kahet Skinning. The rare drop from chitin beasts, so farm it with Gloom Chitin: pull the swarms of Spored Skitterers, Lashers and Stingers west of Faerin's Advance together, AoE them and skin every one.
Needs Skinning. The Tanning specialization's Sharpen Your Knife makes your next skin a guaranteed hide or carapace, once an hour. That chitin beasts are the ones that give it is from game knowledge; Method's farm guide for the nest names only the commoner drops. The Leatherworking guide wants 4, and 11 more if you make Tracker's Toughened Headgear from 62 to 70. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Tempest Wolves near Cinderbrew Meadery, Isle of Dorn Skinning. The rare hide from the same beasts that give Stormcharged Leather: pull the packs of elite Tempest Wolves, Cyclonecrier Alphas and Rustcloud Runts at about 73.9, 32.6, kill them all and skin them.
Gather Shalehorns and Sharpclaws by the Veneration Grounds, Hallowfall Skinning. The Shalehorns, Wary Bulls and Sharpclaws crowding the western edge of Hallowfall, at about 26.8, 55.2, give it alongside their leather.
Needs Skinning. The Tanning specialization's Sharpen Your Knife makes your next skin a guaranteed hide or carapace, once an hour. The Leatherworking guide wants 6, and 11 more if you make Spelunker's Practiced Hats from 62 to 70. Easy to buy, too.

Midnight Leatherworking 1–100 11 materials

As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • Gather Tranquil Repose, Eversong Woods Skinning. Neutral beasts stand bunched together in this area in the south of the zone, so pull a whole group, AoE it down, skin the lot and lap round. A rare Harried Hawkstrider here can be skinned once a day for more.
Gather Loop west of Tranquillien, Eversong Woods Skinning. wow-professions' leather route is a loop through the woods between Goldenmist Village and Windrunner Spire, down to the hills in the south, where leather beasts are spread all along the way.
Needs Skinning. High Value Beasts, marked with a knife on the minimap, give several times the usual leather, so skin any that appear on the way. The Leatherworking guide wants 690 for its trainer recipes. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Wyrms and dragonhawks south-east of Tranquillien, Eversong Woods Skinning. A few Agitated Wyrms and Territorial Dragonhawks are always up in this small spot, so you can stay and farm it without running out; the big dragonhawks just take a little longer to kill.
Gather Wyrms on Sunstrider Isle, Eversong Woods Skinning. Method's scale spot: lap the isle killing the wyrms, which never run out though they stand thinner than the leather beasts. When the world quest there is up, other players leave plenty of corpses to skin.
Needs Skinning. The Leatherworking guide wants 610 for its trainer recipes. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Sharpen Your Knife, Any Midnight zone Skinning. Choosing the Thorough Tanning specialization teaches Sharpen Your Knife, which makes the next beast you skin give a Void-Tempered Hide or Plating for sure; use the charges while farming leather in Eversong Woods.
Gather Rare beasts and Renowned Beasts, Any Midnight zone Skinning. Rare beasts, such as the Harried Hawkstrider in Tranquil Repose, and the Renowned Beasts called up with the Majestic lures are the other sources of it.
Needs Skinning. A skinning tool with Perception gives a chance of a second one whenever it drops. The Leatherworking guide wants 3. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Sharpen Your Knife, Any Midnight zone Skinning. The Thorough Tanning specialization teaches Sharpen Your Knife, which makes the next corpse you skin give a Void-Tempered Hide or Plating for sure; spend the charges on the scaled beasts you farm for Void-Tempered Scales.
Gather Rare scaled beasts and Renowned Beasts, Any Midnight zone Skinning. Rare beasts with scales, and the Renowned Beasts summoned with the Majestic lures, give it too.
Needs Skinning. A skinning tool with Perception gives a chance of a second one whenever it drops. The Leatherworking guide wants 2. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Feathered beasts, Any Midnight zone Skinning, once the Gainful Gathering specialization is unlocked: from then on, skinning a feathered beast now and then gives a plume besides the leather. It needs no points in the tree, only the unlock.
Needs Skinning. No guide names a spot for it. The Leatherworking guide wants 4, and suggests other orange recipes if it is dear. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Fanged beasts, Any Midnight zone Skinning, once the Gainful Gathering specialization is unlocked: after that, a fanged beast you skin sometimes gives a tooth along with its leather. Unlocking the tree is enough; no points need go into it.
Needs Skinning. No guide names a spot for it. The Leatherworking guide wants 3, and suggests other orange recipes if it is dear. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Furred beasts, Any Midnight zone Skinning, once the Gainful Gathering specialization is unlocked: then a furred beast you skin now and then gives a pelt of it on top of the leather. Only the unlock is needed, not points in the tree.
Needs Skinning. No guide names a spot for it. The Leatherworking guide wants 4, and suggests other orange recipes if it is dear. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Herb loops, Harandar Herbalism. Every Midnight herb grows in every zone, and Harandar has the most herb nodes of them all; many sit on top of the giant mushrooms, so fly the zone rather than following a strict route.
Gather Along the rivers, Eversong Woods Herbalism. Herbs crowd the riverbanks, and Rich Soil turns up there for planting seeds for still more; the easiest zone to fly, with one loop round its edge.
Needs Herbalism. The starter Midnight herb: it stops giving Herbalism skill at 30. Any quality rank will do; the guides say quality does not matter. Inscription mills 360 at 1–20; Alchemy wants 300 for potions to 50, and 640 more for the Light's Potential route to 100; Leatherworking 10. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Lightfused herbs and ore deposits, Eversong Woods Herbalism or Mining. Lightfused nodes, glowing and marked on the minimap, nearly all grow in Eversong Woods and always give motes; gathering one scatters light orbs to catch for more. Loop the rivers for herbs or the zone's edge for ore.
Needs Herbalism or Mining; both together double the Lightfused nodes. Overloading a Lightfused node (the Overload ability, learned from your first infused node) throws up far more orbs. A few Lightfused nodes grow in parts of Harandar too. Alchemy wants 12, 10 of them for one Transmute: Mote of Wild Magic, and 80 more for the Light's Potential route to 100; Enchanting 6, Leatherworking 4, Engineering and Inscription 1 each. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Voidbound herbs and ore deposits, Voidstorm Herbalism or Mining. Voidbound nodes, which give these motes, are concentrated in Voidstorm, the zone Method found richest in ore; a loop around the edge of the map passes plenty. Overloading a Voidbound node opens a portal with orbs that each give more motes and ore.
Gather Void Diffuser on any skinnable beast, Any Midnight zone Skinning. A skinner with diffusers unlocked turns two motes into a Void Diffuser, throws it at a beast and gets one to four motes back from the skinned corpse.
Voidstorm opens only after most of the Midnight campaign. A few Voidbound nodes also turn up in Eversong Woods and Zul'Aman. The Inscription guide wants 4 (a Soul Cipher and three Missives), Engineering and Leatherworking 1 each. Easy to buy, too.
  • Buy Leatherworking supplies vendor by the trainer, The Bazaar, Silvermoon City The supplier next to Talmar, the Midnight Leatherworking trainer, in Silvermoon's Bazaar sells it; the Tailoring supply vendors carry it as well.
The Leatherworking guide wants 75 for its trainer recipes; buy them all in one go.
