  • 275 × Lean Shank
Farm Beasts across the Broken Isles, Broken Isles A wide range of Legion beasts drop it, so it piles up wherever you round up a large pack of beasts and kill them together. A skinner takes Stonehide Leather from the same corpses.
Which beasts drop it, and how often, is not in the sources: Wowpedia says only that many Broken Isles beasts do. The Boon of the Butcher shoulder enchant, sold by Ransa Greyfeather at Thunder Totem once you are Honored with the Highmountain Tribe, sometimes adds Butchered Meat holding extra meat. The Legion Cooking guide takes 275 for 55 Salt and Pepper Shanks, and also feeds Lean Shank to Nomi's research work orders until that recipe's rank 2 turns up. Easy to buy, too.
  • Buy Bradford Duncan or Misensi, Dalaran (Broken Isles) Dalaran's cooking supply vendors sell it, along with the Dalapeño Pepper the same recipe needs, so both come in one stop.
Sold only in Legion Dalaran, apart from Far'kul Flametongue in Razor Hill during the Kosh'harg festival. The Legion Cooking guide takes 110 for 55 Salt and Pepper Shanks.
  • Buy Bradford Duncan or Misensi, Dalaran (Broken Isles) Dalaran's cooking supply vendors sell it, together with the Flaked Sea Salt the same recipe needs, so one visit covers both.

  • Gather Sea, river and lake fishing, Kul Tiras and Zandalar Fishing. Right-click any common BfA fish to turn it into oil: Frenzied Fangtooth and Lane Snapper from the sea round Kul Tiras, Slimy Mackerel and Sand Shifter round Zandalar, and Tiragarde Perch, Redtail Loach and Great Sea Catfish from rivers and lakes.
Gather Nazjatar and Mechagon waters, Nazjatar or Mechagon Fishing. Viper Fish and Mauve Stinger from Nazjatar and the Malformed Gnasher from Mechagon give the oil too.
Needs Fishing; the rare Midnight Salmon is not on the list of fish that give oil. The BfA Cooking guide takes about 100, for Mon'Dazi and Kul Tiramisu. Easy to buy, too.
  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 1,050 × Stringy Loins
    • 1,050 × Meaty Haunch
    • 1,050 × Briny Flesh
    • Farm Ambermane Fawns and Ambermane Gazelles round The Eternal Spring, Vol'dun The fawns and gazelles stand thick round the spring and have very little health: gather them all up, kill them in one go, then sweep round again.
Farm Darkmaw Prowlers round Watcher's Wood, Drustvar The second-best spot; the Darkmaw Prowlers in the wood drop it.
The BfA Cooking guide's 1,050 can be any mix of Stringy Loins, Meaty Haunch and Briny Flesh, so keep whichever drops; Seasoned Loins is the recipe that uses it. Easy to buy, too.
    • Farm Invasive Quillrats at Hawthorne's Plot, Drustvar The quillrats come back almost as fast as you kill them, so the plot never runs dry: round up all that are standing, AoE them, and they are back by the time you turn round.
Farm Da'kani Pugilists and other gorillas south-west of Dazar'alor, Zuldazar A small patch of gorillas just outside the city; pull the lot together. The Scavenging Boars at Hocking's Plot in Drustvar drop it too, but only four or five stand there at a time.
The BfA Cooking guide's 1,050 can be any mix of Stringy Loins, Meaty Haunch and Briny Flesh, so keep whichever drops; Honey-Glazed Haunches is the recipe that uses it. Easy to buy, too.
    • Farm Razorjaw Chompers in the river south-east of the Heart of Darkness, Nazmir The chompers swim in packs of five to seven with very little health, so sweep along the river, gather fifteen or more and kill them all at once. A water-walking mount or spell keeps you moving.
Farm Freshwater Snappers and Venomscale Slitherers, or Surly Seals, Tiragarde Sound Two spots in the same zone: the snappers and slitherers at one, the seals at the other. Scavenging Snapclaws in Drustvar drop it too.
The BfA Cooking guide's 1,050 can be any mix of Stringy Loins, Meaty Haunch and Briny Flesh, so keep whichever drops; Sailor's Pie is the recipe that uses it. Easy to buy, too.
  • 320 × Moist Fillet
Farm Deeptide Frenzy in the lake at the Forgotten Tunnel, Nazjatar The best spot: a small lake full of Deeptide Frenzy that refills quickly. Clear the whole lake at once and go again.
Farm Eels, Coral Slitherers, Deeptide Frenzy and Razorshell Turtles, Nazjatar Abyssal Eels, Coral Slitherers and Razorshell Turtles drop it as well, so the beasts that crowd the rest of Nazjatar are worth sweeping up between visits to the lake.
The BfA Cooking guide takes 320 for Abyssal-Fried Rissole. Easy to buy, too.

The 1,050 meats can be any mix of Stringy Loins, Meaty Haunch and Briny Flesh: whichever you farm or find cheapest.

Shadowlands Cooking 1–75 7 materials

Estimated materials

As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • 35 × Lost Sole
Gather Lost Sole Schools, Bastion Fishing. Lost Sole swims in every Shadowlands zone, so fish its schools in Bastion while you are there for Silvergill Pike; Seraph Tenders take both.
Gather Lost Sole Schools, Ardenweald Fishing. Or pair it with Iridescent Amberjack in Ardenweald, as Iridescent Ravioli with Apple Sauce takes the two in equal numbers.
Needs Fishing. Lost Sole Bait makes it bite more often for ten minutes. Fish caches and the Shadowlands fishing world quests give some too. The Shadowlands Cooking guide needs about 35, for Iridescent Ravioli with Apple Sauce and Seraph Tenders. Easy to buy, too.
  • Farm Gilded Cloudstriders, Bastion The best source: they come back very quickly and stand close enough to gather seven or eight at a time, so round them up and kill the lot together.
Farm Bonemauler Alphas and Horrific Bonemaulers, Revendreth Both drop it as well, a second spot for when the Bastion herds are taken.
A mob gives at most one piece, and Shadowlands meat drops far less often than Battle for Azeroth meat did, so plan on many kills. The Shadowlands Cooking guide needs about 70: 21 for Pickled Meat Smoothies and 45 for Banana Beef Pudding. Easy to buy, too.
  • Farm Gorm Raveners, north-west of Glitterfall Basin, Ardenweald They respawn almost at once, always stand three or more together, hit softly and have little armour: drag every group in reach and burn them down at once. The same Gorm drop Phantasmal Haunch.
Farm Bloodtusk Alphas and Predatory Bloodtusks, Maldraxxus Slower to come back, so ride a wide loop through them. The Bloodskin Tauraluss and Furious Alphahoofs on the guide's other Maldraxxus route drop it too.
A mob gives at most one piece, and the drop rate is low. The Shadowlands Cooking guide needs 72, for Meaty Apple Dumplings and Steak a la Mode. Easy to buy, too.
  • Farm Gorm Raveners, north-west of Glitterfall Basin, Ardenweald The Gorm that give Shadowy Shank: back almost at once, never fewer than three together and barely able to hurt you, so one farm fills both meats.
Farm Bloodskin Tauraluss and Furious Alphahoofs, Maldraxxus Kill every one along the farming guide's Maldraxxus loop.
A mob gives at most one piece, and the drop rate is low. The Shadowlands Cooking guide needs 45, all for Banana Beef Pudding along with as many Aethereal Meat. Easy to buy, too.
  • Farm Kala's Den, Bastion Anima-Starved Cloudfeathers and Anima-Starved Wyrms fill this cave: four or five are always up and a new one appears the moment one dies. Kill the Cloudfeather that wanders toward the mouth of the cave too, as it makes more spawn.
Farm Languishing Etherwyrms and Starved Etherwyrms, Bastion A second good spot in Bastion, where the etherwyrms gather in numbers.
A mob gives at most one piece. The Shadowlands Cooking guide needs 66, for Steak a la Mode and Seraph Tenders. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Iridescent Amberjack Schools, Ardenweald Fishing. It is caught in Ardenweald; fish its schools there, and the Lost Sole schools of the same waters give the other half of Iridescent Ravioli with Apple Sauce.
Needs Fishing. Iridescent Amberjack Bait makes it bite more often. The Shadowlands Cooking guide lists 15, for five Iridescent Ravioli with Apple Sauce at 61–66; its optional Candied Amberjack Cakes, Ravioli and Spinefin Souffle steps at 36–61 take 30 more each. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Bastion's waters, Bastion Fishing. It is caught only in Bastion; fish there, and the Lost Sole schools in the same waters give the other fish Seraph Tenders need.
Needs Fishing. Silvergill Pike Bait makes it bite more often. The Shadowlands Cooking guide lists 18, for nine Seraph Tenders at 66–75; Sweet Silvergill Sausages, one of its choices at 22–36, would take 27 more. Easy to buy, too.
