As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • 100 × Copper Bar
Craft Any forge Smelt Copper, the first thing Mining teaches, turns each Copper Ore into one bar. From 1 × Copper Ore (Mining).
Gather Copper Veins in the old Darkshore, Darkshore Mining. The richest Copper zone, about 200 ore in one flying lap. Zidormi, marked in the north of the zone, switches you to the old Darkshore the route is for.
Gather Copper Veins in the caves, Durotar Each of Durotar's caves usually holds three or four Copper Veins close together.
Smelting needs Mining. Easy to buy, too.
  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 20 × Tigerseye
    • 20 × Malachite
    • Salvage Prospecting Copper Ore from the old Darkshore, Darkshore Jewelcrafters prospect five Copper Ore at a time, and the gem is Tigerseye or Malachite about equally often, so some 200 ore yields the twenty Jewelcrafting wants. One flying lap of the old Darkshore, which Zidormi in the north of the zone switches you to, mines about that much. a Tigerseye from about half of all Copper prospects.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting and the ore needs Mining; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Engineering needs just two, for the Flying Tiger Goggles. In the Jewelcrafting guide Malachite Pendants can stand in for the Tigerseye Bands, so the Malachite from the same prospecting is not wasted.
    • Salvage Prospecting Copper Ore, Darkshore Every five Copper Ore a jewelcrafter prospects give a Malachite or a Tigerseye at even odds, so 20 take about 200 ore: one flying lap of the old Darkshore, once Zidormi in the north has switched the zone back.
Salvage Prospecting Copper Ore from the caves, Durotar The other good Copper zone: each of its caves usually holds three or four veins close together.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. The 30 to 50 step takes 20 Malachite (Malachite Pendants) or 20 Tigerseye (Tigerseye Bands), so use whichever of the two the prospecting gives you more of.
  • 120 × Bronze Bar
Craft Any forge Smelt Bronze, taught by a mining trainer at Classic Mining 50, melts one Copper Bar and one Tin Bar into two Bronze Bars. From 1 × Copper Bar, 1 × Tin Bar (Mining).
Gather Tin Veins in the Alterac Mountains, Hillsbrad Foothills Mining. Tin is the half that runs short, and the Alterac Mountains in the north of Hillsbrad are the best place for it; fly laps around the mountains.
Gather Copper Veins in the old Darkshore, Darkshore Mining. The Copper half: about 200 ore in one flying lap, once Zidormi in the north has switched you to the old Darkshore.
Smelting needs Mining. Blacksmithing's 180 Bronze Bars take 90 Copper Bars and 90 Tin Bars. Easy to buy, too.
  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 60 × Shadowgem
    • 20 × Shadowgem, 20 × Small Lustrous Pearl
    • Salvage Prospecting Tin Ore from the Alterac Mountains, Hillsbrad Foothills Shadowgem is one of the three common gems in Tin Ore, beside Moss Agate and Lesser Moonstone, which the guide uses later. Mine the Tin in the Alterac Mountains of Hillsbrad Foothills, the best Tin spot, and prospect it five at a time. a Shadowgem from about 38% of Tin prospects.
Salvage Prospecting Copper Ore, Darkshore Copper gives one only as an occasional bonus, about one prospect in ten, but it comes free while prospecting for Tigerseye.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting and the ore needs Mining; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Gloom Bands at 80 to 100 take forty (Simple Pearl Rings are the alternative), and the guide's Rings of Twilight Shadows at 100 to 110 take twenty more.
    • Farm Sea creatures on the Twilight Shore, Darkshore Encrusted Tide Crawlers and the other sea creatures along this beach drop Small Barnacled Clams; open them for Clam Meat and, now and then, a Small Lustrous Pearl. Pull the whole shoreline at once.
Farm Sea creatures on the Zoram Strand, Ashenvale The coast in the north-west of Ashenvale is lined with the same kind of sea creatures and their clams.
Classic ore does not prospect into pearls. That the clams hold these pearls is from game knowledge; the Classic cooking guide names these beaches only for the clams. The pearls are needed only for Simple Pearl Rings at 80 to 100, and Gloom Bands, made with Shadowgem, are the alternative there. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Iron Deposits in the north, Feralas Mining. Heavy Stone comes up with the ore from Iron Deposits, and Feralas is the best Iron zone; laps of the northern half alone are enough.
Gather Iron Deposits, Western Plaguelands Nearly as good as Feralas; leave out Hearthglen, which has no ore.
Needs Mining. That Iron Deposits give Heavy Stone is from game knowledge; the farming guide is about the ore. Easy to buy, too.
  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 30 × Moss Agate
    • 60 × Lesser Moonstone
    • Salvage Prospecting Tin Ore, Hillsbrad Foothills Jewelcrafters get it from 38% of their five-ore prospects of Tin Ore, together with Lesser Moonstone and Shadowgem; the Alterac Mountains in Hillsbrad are the best place for the ore.
Salvage Prospecting Tin Ore, Northern Stranglethorn The second-best Tin zone, for when Hillsbrad is crowded.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. The 120 to 150 step takes 30 Moss Agate, or twice as many Lesser Moonstone made into Amulets of the Moon, or any mix; Tin prospecting gives both.
    • Salvage Prospecting Tin Ore, Hillsbrad Foothills Tin Ore gives it in 38% of five-ore prospects, alongside Moss Agate, the gem it stands in for; mine the ore in the Alterac Mountains in the north of the zone.
Salvage Prospecting Iron Ore, Feralas Iron Ore gives it 35% of the time, along with the Citrine the guide needs at 200; Feralas is the richest Iron zone.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. The 60 go two at a time into Amulets of the Moon, a design you buy first, in place of the 30 Moss Agate at 120 to 150; a mix of the two gems works too. The amulet goes yellow at 140, so a few extra may be needed.
  • 140 × Mithril Bar
Craft Any forge Smelt Mithril, taught by a mining trainer at Classic Mining 150, turns each Mithril Ore into one bar. From 1 × Mithril Ore (Mining).
Gather Mithril Deposits around Dreadmaul Rock, Burning Steppes Mining. The caves under Dreadmaul Rock are packed with deposits (you go in on foot and clear the mobs inside), and the corner of the map around it has plenty more.
Gather Mithril Deposits and the Mithril cave, Badlands A short loop plus a cave full of Mithril and the mobs guarding it, quick work for a max-level character.
Smelting needs Mining. Felwood is a third good zone: one big loop around it. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Mithril Deposits around Dreadmaul Rock, Burning Steppes Mining. Solid Stone comes up with the ore from Mithril Deposits. The caves under Dreadmaul Rock are packed with them (you go in on foot and clear the mobs inside), and the corner of the map around it has plenty more.
Gather Mithril Deposits and the Mithril cave, Badlands A short, simple loop, plus a cave that is full of Mithril and the mobs guarding it, quick work for a max-level character.
Gather Mithril Deposits, Felwood One big loop around the whole zone.
Needs Mining. That Mithril Deposits give Solid Stone is from game knowledge; the farming guide is about the ore. Easy to buy, too.
  • 25 × Citrine
Salvage Prospecting Iron Ore, Feralas Jewelcrafters get it from 35% of their five-ore prospects of Iron Ore, together with Lesser Moonstone and Jade; Feralas, with Iron everywhere, is the zone for the ore.
Salvage Prospecting Mithril Ore, Burning Steppes Mithril gives it at the same 35%, along with the Star Ruby and Aquamarine the guide needs later; the deposits around Dreadmaul Rock supply the ore.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. The Citrine Rings go yellow at 210, so 25 is the safe count and 20 may do with luck. Tin Ore gives it rarely, about 3% of prospects.
  • Craft Any forge Smelt Truesilver, taught by a mining trainer at Classic Mining 165, turns each Truesilver Ore into one bar. From 1 × Truesilver Ore (Mining).
Gather Truesilver Deposits on a Mithril route, Burning Steppes Mining. Truesilver Deposits are a rare node in the zones where Mithril and Gold are mined, and no farming guide covers them; take every one you pass on a Mithril loop of Burning Steppes, the Badlands or Felwood.
Smelting needs Mining. Only 15 are needed, for the Engraved Truesilver Rings at 185. Where Truesilver Deposits turn up is from game knowledge. Easy to buy, too.
  • Salvage Prospecting Mithril Ore, Burning Steppes Mithril is the one ore that gives it often: 35% of five-ore prospects, with Citrine and Star Ruby alongside. The caves under Dreadmaul Rock are packed with Mithril Deposits.
Salvage Prospecting Mithril Ore, Badlands The neighbouring Mithril zone: a short loop and a cave full of deposits, quick work for a max-level character.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Only five are needed, for the Aquamarine Pendants of the Warrior at 220. Iron Ore (5%) and Tin Ore (about 3%) give one now and then too.
  • Craft Any forge Smelt Thorium, taught by a mining trainer at Classic Mining 200, turns each Thorium Ore into one bar. From 1 × Thorium Ore (Mining).
Gather Thorium Veins, Winterspring Mining. The best Thorium zone, thick with Rich Thorium Veins; you find them everywhere, on the route or off it.
Gather Thorium Veins around the crater, Un'Goro Crater One big loop around the crater's rim covers it.
Smelting needs Mining. The old Silithus is good too, after Zidormi in the north-east has switched you to it. Easy to buy, too.
  • 10 × Star Ruby
Salvage Prospecting Mithril Ore, Burning Steppes Jewelcrafters get one from about a third of the five-ore prospects of Mithril Ore (35%), the best odds of any ore; the Mithril caves under Dreadmaul Rock in Burning Steppes supply the ore.
Salvage Prospecting Thorium Ore, Winterspring Five Thorium Ore give one 30% of the time, along with the bigger Classic gems; Winterspring is the best Thorium zone.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Blacksmithing needs the nine only if you make Thorium Helms rather than Thorium Boots from 291 to 300.
  • 20 × Large Opal
Salvage Prospecting Thorium Ore, Winterspring Jewelcrafters get it from 16% of their five-ore prospects of Thorium Ore, which also give the Huge Emerald, Azerothian Diamond, Blue Sapphire and Star Ruby the guide needs; Winterspring, full of Rich Thorium Veins, is the zone for the ore.
Salvage Prospecting Thorium Ore, Un'Goro Crater One big loop around the crater's rim is a second good source of the ore.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Mithril Ore gives it too, but in only 2.5% of prospects. The 20 go into Simple Opal Rings at 260; the guide says to keep making Ruby Pendants of Fire instead if an Opal costs twice what a Star Ruby does.
  • Salvage Prospecting Thorium Ore, Winterspring Thorium Ore gives it in 16% of five-ore prospects, the same odds as the other big Classic gems; Winterspring has the most Rich Thorium Veins.
Salvage Prospecting Thorium Ore, Un'Goro Crater A single loop around the crater's rim gathers plenty of Thorium as well.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Mithril Ore gives it too, in only 2.5% of prospects. Seven are needed, for the Diamond Focus Rings at 280; spare ones go into Glowing Thorium Bands near the end.
  • Salvage Prospecting Thorium Ore, Winterspring Jewelcrafters find it in 16% of their five-ore prospects of Thorium Ore; Winterspring, where Rich Thorium Veins are everywhere, gives the most ore.
Salvage Prospecting Thorium Ore, Un'Goro Crater The other easy Thorium zone: one loop around the rim of the crater.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Mithril Ore gives it too, in only 2.5% of prospects. Just three are needed, for the Sapphire Pendants of Winter Night at 287, which also take Essence of Undeath.
  • Farm Stratholme, the first big area inside the Main Gate, Eastern Plaguelands The undead there drop it only 2-3% of the time, but the whole first area gathers into one pull and dies together in about a minute. Leave, reset the instance from your portrait and go again; the limit of ten resets an hour comes after ten or twelve minutes. 5 to 9 per ten clears.
Farm Highborne ghosts and Wretched spirits, Winterspring Anguished and Suffering Highborne, Wretched Spectres and Wretched Spirits drop it 7-8% of the time, about twice the rate of the Plaguelands undead; come here once Stratholme's resets are used up.
Jewelcrafting needs only three, for the Sapphire Pendants of Winter Night at 287; without them, the guide says to make Glowing Thorium Bands to 290 instead. Easy to buy, too.
  • Salvage Prospecting Thorium Ore, Winterspring Thorium Ore gives it in 16% of five-ore prospects, along with the Opals, Diamonds and Sapphires of the same steps; Winterspring is the richest Thorium zone.
Salvage Prospecting Thorium Ore, Un'Goro Crater Fly one big loop around the crater for a second load of Thorium.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Mithril Ore gives it too, in only 2.5% of prospects. The 20 make ten Emerald Lion Rings, two each, for the last points from 290 to 300.

The Burning Crusade Jewelcrafting 1–75 6 materials

Estimated materials

As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • Gather Adamantite Deposits, caves included, Nagrand (Outland) Mining. One of the two best zones: its caves are small, hold several nodes each and have easy mobs, so take every cave on the loop.
Gather Adamantite Deposits, caves included, Netherstorm Mining. Just as rich. Its caves are bigger and full of tougher mobs, which a max-level character simply clears on the way to the nodes.
Gather Laps of the open valley, Shadowmoon Valley (Outland) Mining. Also good, but skip its two caves: the nodes inside take too long to reach, and laps outside give more.
Needs Mining; learn Outland Mining from Hanlir or Fono in Shattrath, or each node gives far less ore. Khorium Veins sometimes appear in place of Adamantite Deposits. The Scryers route of Outland Blacksmithing needs 1080, smelted by a miner into 54 Hardened Adamantite Bars; Jewelcrafting needs 240. Easy to buy, too.
  • Craft From your bags, Outland Using ten Motes of Earth turns them into one Primal Earth; no profession is needed. Farm the motes at the spot below. From 10 × Mote of Earth (Combine (no profession)).
Farm Shattered Rumblers, Nagrand The best place for Motes of Earth: run a straight line through the Rumblers, pulling them along, and fly back to where you began. If you clear them too fast, they take a minute or two to come back.
Engineering needs 35 to 45, mostly for the 34 Adamantite Frames at 25 to 35; Jewelcrafting 12, for Mercurial Adamantite at 25 to 35. Easy to buy, too.
  • Craft Any forge Smelt Adamantite, which Outland Mining teaches at skill 25, makes one bar from two Adamantite Ore. From 2 × Adamantite Ore (Mining).
Gather Adamantite Deposits, caves included, Nagrand (Outland) Mining. Nagrand's caves are small, hold several nodes each and have easy mobs, so go into every one on the loop.
Gather Adamantite Deposits, caves included, Netherstorm Mining. Just as rich; its larger caves are full of tougher mobs, which a max-level character clears on the way to the nodes.
Smelting needs Mining; learn Outland Mining from Hanlir or Fono in Shattrath, or each node gives far less ore. Blacksmithing needs 180, Engineering 350 and Jewelcrafting 12. Easy to buy, too.
  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 12 × Dawnstone
    • 12 × Talasite
    • Salvage Prospecting Adamantite Ore, Nagrand Each of the six rare Outland gems, Dawnstone among them, comes from 4% of five-ore prospects of Adamantite Ore. Mine the ore in Nagrand, the best Adamantite zone, caves included. about one Dawnstone per 25 prospects.
Salvage Prospecting Adamantite Ore, Netherstorm The other excellent Adamantite zone, for when Nagrand is crowded.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is the sensible way: twelve take about 300 prospects, some 1,500 ore. Fel Iron Ore gives it in only 1.3% of prospects. The guide needs 12 Dawnstone or 12 Talasite, for Mystic Dawnstone or Steady Talasite at 50 to 60; both designs are sold in Halaa, Nagrand, to the faction holding it. The 240 Adamantite Ore prospected at 1 to 20 give about two. Rates are from the TBC Classic prospecting table.
    • Salvage Prospecting Adamantite Ore, Nagrand Talasite is one of six rare gems that each come from 4% of five-ore prospects of Adamantite Ore. Nagrand, with its small caves, is the best place to mine the ore. about one Talasite per 25 prospects.
Salvage Prospecting Adamantite Ore, Netherstorm The other excellent Adamantite zone, for when Nagrand is crowded.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy, and the guide expects Talasite to be the cheapest rare gem. Twelve take about 300 prospects, some 1,500 ore; Fel Iron Ore gives it in only 1.3% of prospects. The guide needs 12 Talasite or 12 Dawnstone at 50 to 60; Design: Steady Talasite costs four Halaa Research Tokens in Halaa, Nagrand, from Oshu'gun Crystal Powder that every Nagrand mob can drop. Rates are from the TBC Classic prospecting table.
  • Salvage Prospecting Adamantite Ore, Nagrand Like the other five rare Outland gems, Living Ruby comes from 4% of five-ore prospects of Adamantite Ore. Mine the ore in Nagrand, caves included. about one Living Ruby per 25 prospects.
Salvage Prospecting Adamantite Ore, Netherstorm The other excellent Adamantite zone.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, though the guide expects it to be the dearest rare gem. Twelve take about 300 prospects, some 1,500 ore; Fel Iron Ore gives it in only 1.3% of prospects. The guide needs 12 for Kailee's Rose at 60 to 70 (design from Almaador in Shattrath, Sha'tar Honored), and lets you move on at 65 if rubies run short. Rates are from the TBC Classic prospecting table.
  • Craft Outland Alchemy: Transmute: Earthstorm Diamond Not prospected: an alchemist transmutes it, each diamond from three Deep Peridot, three Shadow Draenite, three Golden Draenite, two Primal Earth and two Primal Water. The recipe is sold by Fedryen Swiftspear in Zangarmarsh at Honored with the Cenarion Expedition, and it needs Outland Alchemy 50 and an alchemist stone in the bags. From 3 × Deep Peridot, 3 × Shadow Draenite, 3 × Golden Draenite, 2 × Primal Earth, 2 × Primal Water (Alchemy).
Jewelcrafting needs five, for Insightful Earthstorm Diamonds at 70 to 75, and the guide's advice is to find an alchemist in trade chat or your guild. The three gems come from prospecting Fel Iron or Adamantite Ore. Easy to buy, too.

  • Salvage Prospecting Cobalt Ore from Howling Fjord, Howling Fjord Jewelcrafters prospect five Cobalt Ore at a time, and each prospect can give any of the six uncommon Northrend gems: Bloodstone, Chalcedony, Dark Jade, Huge Citrine, Shadow Crystal and Sun Crystal. Howling Fjord is the best Cobalt zone.
Salvage Prospecting Saronite Ore from Icecrown, Icecrown Saronite Ore gives the same six gems, and more of the rare Northrend gems besides; Icecrown has an easy Saronite route.
Prospecting needs Northrend Jewelcrafting, and the ore needs Mining; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Which gems the two ores give is from game knowledge. Jewelcrafting needs seven, for Bloodstone Bands at 20 to 25; Alchemy needs five only if it picks Transmute: Skyflare Diamond over Earthsiege.
  • Farm Lifeblood Elementals, Sholazar Basin The best source of Crystallized Earth. The elementals respawn almost at once, so you can keep pulling them with no waiting.
Gather Saronite Deposits across the zone, Icecrown Mining. Saronite nodes give Crystallized Earth beside the ore; fewer than the elementals, but the Saronite is worth having too.
Buy Frozo the Renowned, Dalaran, Northrend He trades an Eternal Earth for one Frozen Orb, and an Eternal Earth splits into ten Crystallized Earth, so one or two orbs cover either guide. The orbs cost 75 gold from Arcanist Ivrenne (Alliance) or Magistrix Lambriesse (Horde) in Northrend's Dalaran, not the Broken Isles one.
Engineering needs 10, for Overcharged Capacitors at 1 to 10; Jewelcrafting 14, for seven Bloodstone Bands at 20 to 25. Ten make an Eternal Earth. Easy to buy, too.
  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 46 × Eternal Earth
    • 23 × Eternal Earth, 23 × Eternal Shadow
    • Craft From your bags, Northrend Using ten Crystallized Earth turns them into one Eternal Earth; no profession is needed. Farm the Crystallized Earth at the spot below. From 10 × Crystallized Earth (Combine (no profession)).
Farm Lifeblood Elementals, Sholazar Basin The best source of Crystallized Earth, and they come back so quickly that there is always another pull ready.
Buy Frozo the Renowned, Dalaran, Northrend He trades one Eternal Earth for one Frozen Orb, and the orbs cost 75 gold from Arcanist Ivrenne (Alliance) or Magistrix Lambriesse (Horde). All three are in Northrend's Dalaran, not the Broken Isles one.
Blacksmithing needs 39, one for each of 5 Daunting Handguards at 50 to 55 and 34 Daunting Legplates at 55 to 75; Saronite armour that takes Eternal Water, Fire or Shadow instead does as well. Jewelcrafting needs 46, two for each of 23 Stoneguard Bands at 25 to 45, or 23 with 23 Eternal Shadow for Shadowmight Rings. Mining Saronite Ore, best in Icecrown, also turns up Crystallized Earth. Easy to buy, too.
    • Craft From your bags, Northrend Using ten Crystallized Shadow turns them into one Eternal Shadow; no profession is needed. Farm the Crystallized Shadow in one of the two places below. From 10 × Crystallized Shadow (Combine (no profession)).
Farm Deathbringer Revenants in the Frostmourne Cavern, Dragonblight The best source of Crystallized Shadow: the cave always holds four revenants, and each one killed is replaced at once.
Farm Wandering Shadows, Wintergrasp The second spot. While your faction holds Wintergrasp, Shadow Revenants here drop one to three Crystallized Shadow each.
Frozo the Renowned in Northrend's Dalaran (not the Broken Isles one) trades one Eternal Shadow for one Frozen Orb, and the orbs cost 75 gold from Arcanist Ivrenne in the Silver Enclave (Alliance) or Magistrix Lambriesse in Sunreaver's Sanctuary (Horde). Leatherworking needs 50, for ten Trollwoven Girdles; Engineering lists nine, though its steps use seven (five Mechanized Snow Goggles, two for the Wormhole Generator: Northrend); Jewelcrafting 23 only if it makes Shadowmight Rings instead of Stoneguard Bands. Easy to buy, too.
  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 30 × Earthsiege Diamond
    • 30 × Skyflare Diamond
    • Craft Northrend Alchemy: Transmute: Earthsiege Diamond It does not drop and is not prospected: an alchemist transmutes each one from a Dark Jade, a Huge Citrine and an Eternal Fire. The recipe is taught by the trainer at Northrend Alchemy 50, and a Philosopher's Stone or any alchemist stone has to be in the bags. From 1 × Dark Jade, 1 × Huge Citrine, 1 × Eternal Fire (Alchemy).
Jewelcrafting needs 30 only if it cuts Powerful Earthsiege Diamonds at 45 to 70; Swift Skyflare Diamonds do the same, and a mix of the two is fine. Thirty transmutes take 30 of each gem, prospected from Cobalt or Saronite Ore, and 30 Eternal Fire, which is 300 Crystallized Fire; without an alchemist of your own, ask one in trade chat or your guild. Alchemy makes five of its own at 55 to 60. Easy to buy, too.
    • Craft Northrend Alchemy: Transmute: Skyflare Diamond It does not drop and is not prospected: an alchemist transmutes each one from a Bloodstone, a Chalcedony and an Eternal Air, a recipe the Northrend Alchemy trainer teaches. A Philosopher's Stone or any alchemist stone has to be in the bags. From 1 × Bloodstone, 1 × Chalcedony, 1 × Eternal Air (Alchemy).
Jewelcrafting needs 30 only if it cuts Swift Skyflare Diamonds at 45 to 70; Powerful Earthsiege Diamonds do the same, and a mix of the two is fine. Thirty transmutes take 30 of each gem, prospected from Cobalt or Saronite Ore, and 30 Eternal Air, which is 300 Crystallized Air; without an alchemist of your own, ask one in trade chat or your guild. Alchemy makes five of its own at 55 to 60 if it picks this over Earthsiege. Easy to buy, too.
  • 15 × Frozen Orb
Buy Arcanist Ivrenne (Alliance) or Magistrix Lambriesse (Horde), Dalaran, Northrend Both Legacy Justice Quartermasters sell it for 75 gold, by far the quickest way. They are in Northrend's Dalaran, not the Broken Isles one: Ivrenne upstairs in the Silver Enclave, Lambriesse in Sunreaver's Sanctuary.
Farm Last boss of any Wrath of the Lich King dungeon on Heroic, Northrend The final bosses of Northrend's dungeons drop it on Heroic difficulty. A max-level character clears one in a few minutes, but each dungeon gives only one run a day, so buying is faster for any number.
Jewelcrafting needs 15, for Icy Prisms at 70 to 75; Leatherworking 15, five for Frosthide or Icescale Leg Armor and ten for Trollwoven Girdles. Fifteen cost 1,125 gold. Frozo the Renowned, also in Northrend's Dalaran, trades one orb for any Eternal element. That a Heroic dungeon can be run once a day is from game knowledge. Easy to buy, too.
  • 15 × Chalcedony

Howling Fjord is the best Cobalt zone.
Salvage Prospecting Saronite Ore from Icecrown, Icecrown Saronite Ore gives the same six gems, and more of the rare Northrend gems besides; Icecrown has an easy Saronite route.
Prospecting needs Northrend Jewelcrafting, and the ore needs Mining; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Which gems the two ores give is from game knowledge. Jewelcrafting needs 15, for Icy Prisms at 70 to 75; Alchemy needs five only if it picks Transmute: Skyflare Diamond over Earthsiege.
  • Salvage Prospecting Cobalt Ore from Howling Fjord, Howling Fjord Jewelcrafters prospect five Cobalt Ore at a time, and Shadow Crystal is one of the six uncommon Northrend gems that can come out. Howling Fjord is the best Cobalt zone.
Salvage Prospecting Saronite Ore from Icecrown, Icecrown Saronite Ore gives the same uncommon gems, and Icecrown has an easy Saronite route. Miners also find the odd Shadow Crystal straight from Cobalt, Saronite and Titanium nodes.
Prospecting needs Northrend Jewelcrafting, and the ore needs Mining; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Jewelcrafting needs 15, for Icy Prisms at 70 to 75, and it is one of the gems that count toward the 35 cut at 1 to 20.
  • 15 × Dark Jade
Salvage Prospecting Cobalt Ore from Howling Fjord, Howling Fjord Jewelcrafters prospect five Cobalt Ore at a time, and each prospect can give any of the six uncommon Northrend gems: Bloodstone, Chalcedony, Dark Jade, Huge Citrine, Shadow Crystal and Sun Crystal. Salvage Prospecting Obsidium Ore, Mount Hyjal Hessonite, like the other five uncommon Cataclysm gems, comes one or two at a time from 23% of Obsidium prospects. Mine the ore in Mount Hyjal or the Shimmering Expanse in Vashj'ir. 1 or 2 in 23% of prospects.
Salvage Prospecting Elementium Ore, Twilight Highlands Elementium gives it in 18% of prospects; Twilight Highlands is the best Elementium zone. 1 or 2 in 18% of prospects.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it. Jewelcrafting needs 34 for 17 Hessonite Bands at 18 to 35, two to a band, which is roughly 100 Obsidium prospects, some 500 ore, by Wowpedia's prospecting table; the guide says to keep your Hessonite for this rather than cut it earlier. Easy to buy, too.
  • Buy Jewelcrafting supplies vendor, Any capital Every jewelcrafting supply vendor sells it, for 1 gold 50 silver each; the capitals have one near their Jewelcrafting trainer, such as Lugrah in Orgrimmar or Theresa Denman in Stormwind.
The guide lists 25, but its only use is the Nightstone Chokers at 35 to 50, and each takes one setting with two Nightstone, so 15 cover the 15 chokers; buy a few spare for the extra crafts the guide warns of. Price and vendor are from Wowpedia; that one stands near each trainer is from game knowledge.
  • 30 × Nightstone
Salvage Prospecting Obsidium Ore, Mount Hyjal Nightstone, like the other five uncommon Cataclysm gems, comes one or two at a time from 23% of Obsidium prospects. Mount Hyjal and the Shimmering Expanse in Vashj'ir are the places to mine the ore.
Jewelcrafting needs 30 for 15 Nightstone Chokers at 35 to 50, two to a choker, which is roughly 90 Obsidium prospects, some 450 ore, by Wowpedia's prospecting table; the guide says to keep your Nightstone for this rather than cut it earlier. Alchemy can use 15, with 15 Twilight Jasmine, for five Transmute: Demonseye at 65 to 70. Easy to buy, too.
  • Craft Transmute: Shadowspirit Diamond Alchemists buy the transmute from the trainer. It takes three of each uncommon Cataclysm gem, with a Philosopher's Stone as the tool, and Wowpedia says it makes two diamonds; all six gems come from prospecting Obsidium or Elementium Ore. From 3 × Alicite, 3 × Nightstone, 3 × Zephyrite, 3 × Carnelian, 3 × Hessonite, 3 × Jasper (Alchemy).
Wowpedia names no source but the transmute, so anyone without Alchemy buys it; the 20 the guide needs mean about ten transmutes, 180 gems. Jewelcrafting uses them at 50 to 70 for any meta gem cut, such as Forlorn Shadowspirit Diamond; that design costs 4 Illustrious Jewelcrafter's Tokens, four days of the daily quests from Marith Lazuria in Orgrimmar or Isabel Jones in Stormwind. Easy to buy, too.
  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 5 × Vicious Sapphire Necklace: 25 × Ocean Sapphire, 40 × Volatile Air, 20 × Volatile Fire
    • 5 × Vicious Amberjewel Pendant: 25 × Amberjewel, 40 × Volatile Water, 20 × Volatile Life
    • 5 × Vicious Ruby Choker: 25 × Inferno Ruby, 40 × Volatile Earth, 30 × Volatile Water
    • Salvage Prospecting Elementium Ore, Twilight Highlands Each of the six rare Cataclysm gems, Ocean Sapphire among them, comes one or two at a time from 4% of Elementium prospects. Twilight Highlands is the best Elementium zone, Uldum the next. 1 or 2 in 4% of prospects.
Craft Transmute: Ocean Sapphire An alchemist can make one from three Zephyrite and three Azshara's Veil, with a Philosopher's Stone as the tool; the recipe is bought from the Alchemy trainer. From 3 × Zephyrite, 3 × Azshara's Veil (Alchemy).
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, and the guide itself says rare Cataclysm gems are cheap on most realms. Jewelcrafting needs 25 only if it makes 5 Vicious Sapphire Necklaces at 70 to 75, one of three choices; 25 take some 400 Elementium prospects, about 2,000 ore, by Wowpedia's prospecting table. Obsidium gives it in only 1.2% of prospects. Easy to buy, too.
    • Farm The Vortex Pinnacle (normal), Uldum The best spot for a max-level character: set the difficulty to normal, fly up to the entrance high in Uldum's south-east, kill everything up to the second boss, Altairus, then jump off the edge to land back at the start. Leave, reset and go again, up to ten runs an hour.
Farm Scions of Al'Akir, Uldum There are many and they respawn quickly, but only about one in eight drops it. Talk to Zidormi at Ramkahen first, or you see the later Uldum without them.
Engineering needs 30 for 15 Electrified Ether before 45; Jewelcrafting 40 only if it makes Vicious Sapphire Necklaces at 70 to 75. An engineer with a gathering profession also gets it from an Electrostatic Condenser. Easy to buy, too.
    • Gather Pools of Fire in the lava, Twilight Highlands Fishing, at any skill. The pools are rings of flame on the lava, two at most at a time from four spawn points, each good for two to four casts of one or two Volatile Fire; between pools, kill the Enslaved Infernos nearby, which drop it 14% of the time. Mount Hyjal has Pools of Fire too. over 100 an hour.
Farm Flame Ascendants, Mount Hyjal Eight or nine of them spawn close together, have little health and return quickly; gather the lot, kill them and circle back as they reappear.
Farm Unbound Emberfiends, Twilight Highlands The mob spot to use instead of the pools when other players have them.
The most-wanted Cataclysm volatile: Leatherworking needs 112, Blacksmithing 150 (or Volatile Water instead, or a mix), Jewelcrafting's Vicious Sapphire Necklace 20 and Engineering 15. Pools refill in about 12 to 15 minutes. Flame Terrors and Brimstone Destroyers in Mount Hyjal drop it as well, but appear only after the Guardians of Hyjal: Firelands Invasion! quests. Easy to buy, too.
    • Salvage Prospecting Elementium Ore, Twilight Highlands Each of the six rare Cataclysm gems, Amberjewel among them, comes one or two at a time from 4% of Elementium prospects. Twilight Highlands is the best Elementium zone, Uldum the next. 1 or 2 in 4% of prospects.
Craft Transmute: Amberjewel An alchemist can make one from three Alicite and three Whiptail, with a Philosopher's Stone as the tool; the recipe is bought from the Alchemy trainer. From 3 × Alicite, 3 × Whiptail (Alchemy).
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, and the guide itself says rare Cataclysm gems are cheap on most realms. Jewelcrafting needs 25 only if it makes 5 Vicious Amberjewel Pendants at 70 to 75, one of three choices; 25 take some 400 Elementium prospects, about 2,000 ore, by Wowpedia's prospecting table. Obsidium gives it in only 1.2% of prospects. Easy to buy, too.
    • Farm Muddied Water Elementals along the Verrall River, Twilight Highlands The one mob spot the guide names. Turn in the Muddied Waters quest first: players report the elementals drop no Volatile Water while it is in your log. Drops come in streaks, so a dry quarter of an hour is just bad luck.
Gather Fishing pools and open water, Cataclysm zones Fishing. Any fishing pool in a Cataclysm zone can bring it up, and so can casting into open water there.
Blacksmithing needs 150 (or Volatile Fire instead, or a mix), Leatherworking 50, and Jewelcrafting's Vicious Amberjewel Pendant or Vicious Ruby Choker 40 or 30. Where the elementals are is from Wowpedia. Easy to buy, too.
    • Gather Whiptail in the old Uldum, Uldum Herbalism: picking Cataclysm herbs is the only way to get it. Whiptail in Uldum is one of the two best routes; a max-level character sees the later Uldum with other herbs, so talk to Zidormi at Ramkahen first to switch to the old one.
Gather Heartblossom across the zone, Deepholm Herbalism. The other good route, and the Heartblossom and Cinderbloom you pick on the way are both on the Alchemy guide's list.
Needs Herbalism; any Cataclysm herb can give it. Alchemy needs 45, five for Golemblood Potions and 40 for Flasks of Titanic Strength; Jewelcrafting 20 only if it makes Vicious Amberjewel Pendants. Easy to buy, too.
    • Salvage Prospecting Elementium Ore, Twilight Highlands Each of the six rare Cataclysm gems, Inferno Ruby among them, comes one or two at a time from 4% of Elementium prospects. Twilight Highlands is the best Elementium zone, Uldum the next. 1 or 2 in 4% of prospects.
Craft Transmute: Inferno Ruby An alchemist can make one from three Carnelian and three Heartblossom, with a Philosopher's Stone as the tool; the recipe is bought from the Alchemy trainer. From 3 × Carnelian, 3 × Heartblossom (Alchemy).
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, and the guide itself says rare Cataclysm gems are cheap on most realms. Jewelcrafting needs 25 only if it makes 5 Vicious Ruby Chokers at 70 to 75, one of three choices; 25 take some 400 Elementium prospects, about 2,000 ore, by Wowpedia's prospecting table. Obsidium gives it in only 1.2% of prospects. Easy to buy, too.
    • Farm Tor-Tun in Zul'Gurub, Northern Stranglethorn Set the difficulty to Heroic (there is no Normal), kill Tor-Tun and, once a day, the Florawing Hive Queen, whose Honeycomb holds more volatiles, then leave and reset. Kill no other boss or the reset is lost; a run takes about two minutes, so the ten-instances-an-hour limit arrives after some twenty. 5 to 8 per Tor-Tun kill.
Farm Obsidian Stoneslaves at the Black Breach, Twilight Highlands Round up the Stoneslaves and kill them together; a miner can also mine the bodies for more Volatile Earth.
Farm Scalding Rock Elementals, Mount Hyjal They die quickly and come back fast, a good place to go while Zul'Gurub's resets are used up.
Blacksmithing needs 10 for the Redsteel Belts at 10 to 20, and 8 more if you smelt its two Hardened Elementium Bars yourself. Jewelcrafting's Vicious Ruby Choker, one of three choices at 70 to 75, takes 40. The Zul'Gurub entrance is at 72, 33 in Northern Stranglethorn; where the Stoneslaves stand is from Wowpedia. Easy to buy, too.

    • 80 × Tiger Opal
    • 80 × Roguestone
    • 80 × Alexandrite
    • 80 × Lapis Lazuli
    • Salvage Prospecting Ghost Iron Ore, Valley of the Four Winds Jewelcrafting. Tiger Opal is one of the everyday gems that prospecting Pandaria ore gives. Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it. The guide's 80 is a total for 1 to 60 in any mix of Tiger Opal, Roguestone, Alexandrite and Lapis Lazuli, one gem per cut, so prospect and cut whatever comes out. Rare gems turn up in the same prospecting, and the guide needs 17 of those next; alchemists also use Tiger Opal to transmute Vermilion Onyx. Wowpedia only says Pandaria ores; that Ghost Iron, the common one, is the ore to prospect is from game knowledge. Easy to buy, too.

Mine the ore in the Valley of the Four Winds, the best Ghost Iron zone, or in the Jade Forest or Townlong Steppes when the Valley is busy.
Craft Transmute: River's Heart An alchemist with a Philosopher's Stone makes one from a Lapis Lazuli and a Golden Lotus, once the transmute has been discovered; it turns up at random while making other Pandaria alchemy. From 1 × Lapis Lazuli, 1 × Golden Lotus (Alchemy).
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it. The guide wants 17 rare gems of one colour, any of the six: three for the gem research at 60, which teaches a design of that colour, then 14 cuts from 61 to 75. Research can be done once a day, and if you run short the guide suggests Secrets of the Stone, which costs a Spirit of Harmony. The 80 uncommon gems for 1 to 60 come from the same prospecting (game knowledge), so some rares turn up on the way. Wowpedia shows Kyparite (from skill 25) and Trillium Ore (from 75) can be prospected too, but no source gives what they yield, nor how often Ghost Iron gives a rare gem. Easy to buy, too.

Warlords of Draenor Jewelcrafting 1–100 2 materials

Estimated materials

Added up from the guide's steps. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 55 × Reflecting Prism: 55 × Sorcerous Fire
    • 55 × Prismatic Focusing Lens: 55 × Sorcerous Earth
    • Buy "Appraiser" Sazsel Stickyfingers (Frostwall) or Ashley Zerep (Lunarfall), Your Draenor garrison The garrison's trade-goods dealer hands over one Sorcerous Fire for 15 Primal Spirits. The spirits drop from Draenor mobs and come out of Draenor herb, ore and skinning nodes, so they gather while you farm other Draenor materials.
The Draenor Jewelcrafting guide's 1–55 step makes 55 Reflecting Prisms from 55 Sorcerous Fire, which comes to 825 Primal Spirits; the guide itself says to skip the step and start at its Taladite gems unless the Fire is cheap. Primal Spirits bind when picked up; the garrison's visiting Leather Trader also sells them for five Raw Beast Hide each. Alchemists can transmute Sorcerous Earth into Fire. Whether Draenor elementals drop it could not be confirmed from the sources. Also sold on the auction house.

    • 45 × Versatility Taladite: 450 × Blackrock Ore, 90 × Gorgrond Flytrap
    • Gather Mining loop of the whole zone, Frostfire Ridge Mining. The farming guide's favourite: most deposits stand in the open with nothing guarding them, so a flying loop barely has to stop.
Gather Mining loop of the whole zone, Talador Mining. Rated nearly as high by the same guide, with Shadowmoon Valley a good third.
Gather Garrison mine, Your garrison, Frostfire Ridge (Horde) or Shadowmoon Valley (Alliance) Frostwall Mines or Lunarfall Excavation refills with Draenor ore deposits every day: about 8 at building level 1, 13 at level 2 and 18 at level 3.
Needs Mining. It goes into recipes as ore, with no smelting. Draenor Blacksmithing needs 1960 only if you make Truesteel Grinders rather than Reshapers; Draenor Engineering needs 1050 for 70 Didi's Delicate Assembly at 30 to 100, plus 24 (Stealthman 54) or 138 (Mecha-Blast Rocket) at 1 to 30; Draenor Jewelcrafting needs 450 for Critical Strike, Haste or Versatility Taladite. Ten Blackrock Fragments also combine into one ore. Easy to buy, too.
    • Gather Lava pools across the zone, Frostfire Ridge Herbalism. It grows at the edges of lava, so fly from one lava pool to the next; Frostfire Ridge is the only zone it grows in wild, and Frostweed fills the same loop.
Gather Garrison Herb Garden, Your garrison, Frostfire Ridge (Horde) or Shadowmoon Valley (Alliance) Put a follower in the garden and you can choose the herb it grows, so set it to Fireweed and pick the nodes each day.
Needs Herbalism. Draenor Alchemy needs 162 if you choose Draenic Agility Potion for 2 to 55, and 180 for the Draenic Agility Flask at 55 to 100; Draenor Jewelcrafting needs 90 if you choose Critical Strike Taladite, and Draenor Cooking 45 if your dishes lead to Blackrock Barbecue at 75 to 95. A node sometimes wakes a Disturbed Podling, which drops the herb when killed. Easy to buy, too.
    • Gather Herb loop of the whole zone, Frostfire Ridge Herbalism. The farming guide's first pick; fly one wide loop of the zone and pick every node on the way.
Gather Herb loop of the whole zone, Shadowmoon Valley (Draenor) The only other zone it grows in, and the guide's second choice.
Gather Garrison Herb Garden, Your garrison, Frostfire Ridge (Horde) or Shadowmoon Valley (Alliance) A garrison with a Herb Garden grows Frostweed nodes too, so pick them each time you pass through.
Needs Herbalism. Draenor Alchemy needs 5 for the first Secret of Draenor Alchemy, and 162 more if you choose Draenic Versatility Potion for 2 to 55; Draenor Jewelcrafting needs 90 if you choose Haste Taladite. A node sometimes wakes a Disturbed Podling, which drops the herb when killed. Easy to buy, too.

Needs Mining. It goes into recipes as ore, with no smelting. Draenor Blacksmithing needs 2940 for 98 Truesteel Reshapers, or only 980 if you make Truesteel Grinders, which take 1960 Blackrock Ore as well; Draenor Engineering needs 1050 for 70 Didi's Delicate Assembly at 30 to 100, plus 24 (Stealthman 54) or 138 (Shieldtronic Shield) at 1 to 30; Draenor Jewelcrafting needs 450 for Mastery or Stamina Taladite. Ten True Iron Nuggets also combine into one ore. Easy to buy, too.
    • Gather Herb loop of the whole zone, Shadowmoon Valley (Draenor) Herbalism. The only zone it grows in wild; fly one wide loop and take every node, the Frostweed that shares the valley included.
Gather Garrison Herb Garden, Your garrison, Frostfire Ridge (Horde) or Shadowmoon Valley (Alliance) Put a follower in the garden and you can choose the herb it grows, so set it to Starflower and pick the nodes each day.
Needs Herbalism. Draenor Alchemy needs 180 if you choose the Draenic Agility or Draenic Intellect Flask for 55 to 100; Draenor Jewelcrafting needs 90 if you choose Mastery Taladite, and Draenor Cooking 45 if your dishes lead to Sleeper Surprise at 75 to 95. A node sometimes wakes a Disturbed Podling, which drops the herb when killed. Easy to buy, too.
    • Gather Herb loop of the whole zone, Talador Herbalism. Talador is the only zone it grows in; fly one wide loop of it and pick every node on the way.
Gather Garrison Herb Garden, Your garrison, Frostfire Ridge (Horde) or Shadowmoon Valley (Alliance) A garrison with a Herb Garden grows Talador Orchid nodes too, so pick them each time you pass through.
Needs Herbalism. Draenor Alchemy needs 162 if you choose Draenic Intellect Potion for 2 to 55, and 180 if you choose Draenic Intellect or Draenic Stamina Flask for 55 to 100; Draenor Jewelcrafting needs 90 if you choose Stamina Taladite. A node sometimes wakes a Disturbed Podling, which drops the herb when killed. Easy to buy, too.
    • Gather Herb loop of the whole zone, Gorgrond Herbalism. Gorgrond is the only zone it grows in wild, and it has far fewer nodes than the other Draenor herbs, so plan on a long loop.
Gather Garrison Herb Garden, Your garrison, Frostfire Ridge (Horde) or Shadowmoon Valley (Alliance) Put a follower in the garden and you can choose the herb it grows, so set it to Gorgrond Flytrap and pick the nodes each day.
Needs Herbalism. Draenor Alchemy needs 162 if you choose Draenic Mana Potion for 2 to 55, and 180 if you choose Draenic Strength Flask for 55 to 100; Draenor Jewelcrafting needs 90 if you choose Versatility Taladite, and Draenor Cooking 45 if your dishes lead to Gorgrond Chowder at 75 to 95. Legion Jewelcrafting 1–100 6 materials

Estimated materials

The guide offers recipes to choose from, so there is no total: these are what they use.

  • Salvage Prospecting Leystone Ore, Val'sharah Jewelcrafters prospect Leystone Ore, and Deep Amber is one of the gems it gives. Mine the ore on the Val'sharah route, or from the Lagoon Basilisks in Azsuna.
Salvage Prospecting Felslate, Broken Isles Felslate prospects into Deep Amber too, so the Felslate found among the Leystone nodes needn't be kept apart.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. How often a prospect gives Deep Amber is not in the sources. The Legion Jewelcrafting guide lets you choose your gem: 45 of any one of five for 1–35, then 50 for a Deep Amber Loop and 225 for Deep Amber Pendants if you stay with amber.
  • Salvage Prospecting Leystone Ore, Val'sharah Jewelcrafting. Prospecting Leystone Ore or Felslate gives Queen's Opal among the other common Legion gems. Mine the Leystone on the Val'sharah route, or round up the Lagoon Basilisks in Azsuna and mine their corpses.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it. The guide lets you pick a gem colour at each step, so its list has no number: going with Queen's Opal takes about 45 for Masterful Queen's Opal cuts (1 to 35), 50 for 25 rank 3 Queen's Opal Loops with 25 Chaotic Spinel (35 to 60), and 225 for 45 rank 3 Queen's Opal Pendants with 45 Sangrite (60 to 95). The rank 3 Loop design comes from a Stormheim world quest and the Pendant one from a Suramar world quest. Felslate only appears now and then in place of Leystone, so Leystone is what you will mostly prospect. Easy to buy, too.
  • Salvage Prospecting Leystone Ore, Val'sharah Jewelcrafting. Prospecting Leystone Ore or Felslate gives Azsunite among the other common Legion gems. Mine the Leystone on the Val'sharah route, or round up the Lagoon Basilisks in Azsuna and mine their corpses.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it. The guide lets you pick a gem colour at each step, so its list has no number: going with Azsunite takes about 45 for Quick Azsunite cuts (1 to 35), 50 for 25 rank 3 Azsunite Loops with 25 Chaotic Spinel (35 to 60), and 225 for 45 rank 3 Azsunite Pendants with 45 Sangrite (60 to 95). Both rank 3 designs come from world quests, the Pendant one in Azsuna. Felslate only appears now and then in place of Leystone, so Leystone is what you will mostly prospect. Easy to buy, too.
  • Salvage Prospecting Leystone Ore, Val'sharah Jewelcrafting. Prospecting Leystone Ore or Felslate gives Skystone among the other common Legion gems. Mine the Leystone on the Val'sharah route, or round up the Lagoon Basilisks in Azsuna and mine their corpses.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it. The guide lets you pick a gem colour at each step, so its list has no number: going with Skystone takes about 45 for Versatile Skystone cuts (1 to 35), 50 for 25 rank 3 Skystone Loops with 25 Chaotic Spinel (35 to 60), and 225 for 45 rank 3 Skystone Pendants with 45 Sangrite (60 to 95). The rank 3 Loop design is sold by Ransa Greyfeather in Thunder Totem at Honored with the Highmountain Tribe; the Pendant one comes from a Highmountain world quest. Felslate only appears now and then in place of Leystone, so Leystone is what you will mostly prospect. Easy to buy, too.
  • Salvage Prospecting Leystone Ore, Val'sharah Jewelcrafting. Prospecting Leystone Ore or Felslate gives Sangrite among the other common Legion gems. Mine the Leystone on the Val'sharah route, or round up the Lagoon Basilisks in Azsuna and mine their corpses.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it. Whichever colour you level with, the 45 rank 3 pendants for 60 to 95 take one Sangrite each, 45 in all; Jeweled Lockpicks, one of the 1 to 35 choices, take about 45 more. The guide's list gives no number. Felslate only appears now and then in place of Leystone, so Leystone is what you will mostly prospect. Easy to buy, too.
  • Salvage Prospecting Leystone Ore, Val'sharah Jewelcrafting. Prospecting Leystone Ore or Felslate gives Chaotic Spinel among the other common Legion gems. Mine the Leystone on the Val'sharah route, or round up the Lagoon Basilisks in Azsuna and mine their corpses.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it. Whichever colour you level with, the 25 rank 3 loops for 35 to 60 take one Chaotic Spinel each beside two gems of their colour, so 25 in all; the guide's list gives no number. Felslate only appears now and then in place of Leystone, so Leystone is what you will mostly prospect. Easy to buy, too.

It is one of five gems the guide offers at 155–165, 10 Deadly Lava Lazuli if you pick it; Mass Prospect Osmenite itself gives points up to 175, and 100 to 150 ore covers the gems.
    • Salvage Prospecting Osmenite Ore, Nazjatar Osmenite Ore is the only ore that gives it. Mine Nazjatar on the farming guide's first loop, looking into the caves, where some veins only show once you are inside, and prospect the ore by the stack with Mass Prospect Osmenite.
Salvage Prospecting Osmenite from the second loop, Nazjatar The guide's second loop covers the parts of Nazjatar the first leaves out; use it when the first is crowded.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting and the ore needs Mining; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. The guide's 155 to 165 step cuts ten of any one of five gems, Sea Currant, Dark Opal, Lava Lazuli, Sage Agate or Sand Spinel, so cut whichever your prospecting turns up most. It reckons 100 to 150 Osmenite carries you from 165 to 175 with the gems it gives.
    • Salvage Prospecting Osmenite Ore, Nazjatar It comes only from prospecting Osmenite Ore. Mine Nazjatar on the farming guide's first loop, caves included, and prospect the ore a stack at a time with Mass Prospect Osmenite.
Salvage Prospecting Osmenite from the second loop, Nazjatar A loop through the rest of Nazjatar, for when other miners are on the first one.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting and the ore needs Mining; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. The guide's 155 to 165 step takes ten of one gem of your choice, Sand Spinel being one of five, so use whichever Osmenite gives you most of.

Shadowlands Jewelcrafting 1–100 6 materials

Estimated materials

Added up from the guide's steps. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • Gather Mining route, Revendreth Mining. Laestrite is in every Shadowlands zone, any deposit being about as likely to be it as the zone's own ore. On the farming guide's Revendreth route the deposits came back so quickly that a short loop was nearly always enough.
Gather Mining route, Bastion Mining. At places five deposits show on the minimap at once, guarded by mobs a max-level character clears on the way. The area holds only friendly mobs and no ore until the Bastion story campaign has moved on far enough.
Needs Mining; Shadowlands ore has no ranks, only skill, and the Shadowlands Gathering glove enchant cuts each node from 3.2 to 1.7 seconds. Blacksmithing needs 360, Engineering 330 and Jewelcrafting 400. Easy to buy, too.
  • One of these, whichever is cheapest for you:
    • 100 × Solenium Ore
    • 100 × Oxxein Ore
    • 100 × Phaedrum Ore
    • 100 × Sinvyr Ore
    • Gather Mining route, Bastion Mining. Solenium is found only in Bastion. On the farming guide's first route up to five deposits show at once and come back fast, with hostile guards a max-level character simply kills. The area has no ore until the Bastion story campaign is far enough along.
Gather Second mining route, Bastion Mining. Very nearly as good, and a third route is there if both are taken.
Needs Mining; Shadowlands ore has no ranks, only skill. About half of Bastion's deposits are Laestrite instead, which the same route gathers too. Blacksmithing needs 100. Easy to buy, too.
    • Gather Mining route, Maldraxxus Mining. Oxxein is found only in Maldraxxus. The farming guide's two routes give about the same; its first is a little shorter, and the mobs along it are no trouble at max level.
Gather Second mining route, Maldraxxus Mining. Just as good, for when the first route has company.
Needs Mining; Shadowlands ore has no ranks, only skill. About half of Maldraxxus's deposits are Laestrite instead, which the same routes gather too. Blacksmithing needs 100. Easy to buy, too.
    • Gather Loop round the middle of the zone, Ardenweald Mining. Phaedrum is found only in Ardenweald, and the farming guide's loop round the centre of the zone gave it the most ore.
Gather Loop of the other side, out to the edges, Ardenweald Mining. The guide's second loop covers the rest of the zone and can be stretched out to the mob-crowded edges, which is no problem for a max-level character.
Needs Mining; Shadowlands ore has no ranks, only skill. About half of Ardenweald's deposits are Laestrite instead, which the same loops gather too. Blacksmithing needs 100. Easy to buy, too.
    • Gather Mining route, Revendreth Mining. Sinvyr is found only in Revendreth. On the farming guide's first route the deposits respawned so fast that a short loop was nearly always enough.
Gather Second mining route, Revendreth Mining. No ore grows on the zone's upper levels, so this route packs in more deposits than most zones' routes do; the mobs on it, hard to avoid, are no trouble at max level.
Needs Mining; Shadowlands ore has no ranks, only skill. About half of Revendreth's deposits are Laestrite instead, which the same routes gather too. Blacksmithing needs 100. Easy to buy, too.
  • Gather Mining route, Bastion Mining. Solenium is found only in Bastion. On the farming guide's first route up to five deposits show at once and come back fast, with hostile guards a max-level character simply kills. The area has no ore until the Bastion story campaign is far enough along.

Needs Mining; Shadowlands ore has no ranks, only skill. About half of Bastion's deposits are Laestrite instead, which the same route gathers too. Blacksmithing needs 100. Easy to buy, too.
  • 20 × Oxxein Ore
Gather Mining route, Maldraxxus Mining.

Needs Mining; Shadowlands ore has no ranks, only skill. About half of Ardenweald's deposits are Laestrite instead, which the same loops gather too. Blacksmithing needs 100. Easy to buy, too.
  • 20 × Sinvyr Ore
Gather Mining route, Revendreth Mining.

Besides the Laestrite, the guide wants 100 of one of the four rarer ores for its gems, and 10 to 20 of each of the four.

Dragonflight Jewelcrafting 1–100 21 materials

Estimated materials

As the guide lists them. Expect to need a few more where a recipe turns yellow or green before the next one.

  • Gather Serevite Deposits on a mining loop, The Waking Shore, The Azure Span or Ohn'ahran Plains Mining. The common Dragon Isles ore, with deposits all over the isles, so any loop through the zones the mining guide routes through fills the bags; Rich deposits give extra ore.
Needs Mining. This is one of Serevite Ore's quality ranks (190395 is another); any rank will do, as the guides say quality does not matter for leveling. Jewelcrafting needs 30: 25 to prospect at 1–6 and two each for the Bold-Print Bifocals and Sundered Onyx Loupe. Hardened and Molten deposits also give Rousing Earth and Rousing Fire. The mining guide does not rank the zones. Easy to buy, too.
  • Craft Shimmering Clasp Jewelcrafters learn it from the trainer at Dragon Isles Jewelcrafting 5. Buy the Misshapen Filigree from Shakey Flatlap, outside the building with the trainer in Valdrakken; Mystic Sapphires come from prospecting Dragon Isles ore. From 1 × Misshapen Filigree, 1 × Mystic Sapphire (Jewelcrafting).
The Jewelcrafting guide makes one at 6–12, and its steps use four (Band of New Beginnings, Pendant of Impending Perils and two Revitalizing Red Carvings), yet its list counts 22. That Mystic Sapphires come from prospecting is from game knowledge. Easy to buy, too.
  • Farm The elemental cave just east of the Obsidian Citadel, The Waking Shore Every mob in the cave can drop it, the patrolling Cindershard Hulks included, so a max-level character clears the cave end to end and goes round again.
Farm Unsettled Rubble and Displaced Earth camp, The Waking Shore Plenty of small earth elementals that come back quickly, though they stand far enough apart that each pull takes some running.
Gather Hardened Serevite Deposits, Dragon Isles Mining. Hardened deposits, and Primal ones at random, give a few alongside the ore, so a miner's loop adds to the pile.
The small fire elementals at the Waking Shore lava pit that gives Rousing Fire drop it too. Ten turn into one Awakened Earth from the bags. Engineering needs 10, two for each Shock-Spring Coil, and Jewelcrafting 5. The farming guide does not name the cave; its map puts it beside the Obsidian Citadel. Easy to buy, too.
  • Farm Provoking Flames north-east of the Obsidian Bulwark, The Waking Shore The flames hyperspawn, so the supply never runs out. Tormented Steam elementals fight them there; kill those too, since they give Rousing Frost.
Farm Ashen Sparks and Destructive Flames around a small lava pit, The Waking Shore Circle the pit killing every fire elemental; the little ones drop Rousing Earth as well.
Gather Molten Serevite Deposits, Dragon Isles Mining. Molten deposits, and Primal ones at random, give a few with the ore.
Ten turn into one Awakened Fire from the bags. Engineering needs 185, 175 of them for 35 Overcharged Overclockers at 50–65, and Jewelcrafting 68, 60 of them for Blotting Sand. The farming guide marks the Provoking Flame spot on a map without naming it. Easy to buy, too.
  • Farm Calving Elementals by Camp Antonidas, The Azure Span They hyperspawn around a small icy lake beside the camp, so there is never a gap: keep pulling everything there and AoE it down, the big quest mob among them included, since it drops Rousing Frost too.
Farm Tormented Steam, The Waking Shore Another hyperspawning spot. Provoking Flames fight the steam elementals there, so kill both; the flames give Rousing Fire.
Frigid herbs and Primal ore deposits also give a few to gatherers. Ten turn into one Awakened Frost from the bags. Alchemy needs 4, for Refreshing Healing Potions, and Jewelcrafting 2. Easy to buy, too.
  • Farm Unleashed Storms, Ohn'ahran Plains The best source, but they are only there while the Wind Breaker world quest is up. Pull the storms only: the small neutral mobs around them drop nothing.
Farm Restless Winds and Restless Gales, The Azure Span Air elementals that are there at any time; round them up and AoE them down.
Windswept herbs and Primal ore deposits also give a few to gatherers. Ten turn into one Awakened Air from the bags. Inscription needs 35, for seven Runed Writhebark; Alchemy and Jewelcrafting need 2 each. Easy to buy, too.
  • Salvage Dragon Isles Prospecting, Dragon Isles Jewelcrafters prospect Dragon Isles ore five pieces at a time, and this is one of the five common gems that comes out. The Jewelcrafting guide prospects Serevite Ore, the ore found in deposits all over the isles.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Any quality rank will do; the guide says quality does not matter. Its list asks for 12, but its own steps use about 16: one for a Glossy Stone, three for Dragon Isles Crushing, six for Solid Eternity Amber, two for the Band of New Beginnings and four for Timewatcher's Patience.
  • Salvage Dragon Isles Prospecting, Dragon Isles One of the five common gems that Jewelcrafters get from prospecting Dragon Isles ore, five pieces a go. The Jewelcrafting guide prospects Serevite Ore, which is mined all over the isles.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Any quality rank will do. The guide needs only 3: one for a Shimmering Clasp and two for Zen Mystic Sapphire.
  • Salvage Dragon Isles Prospecting, Dragon Isles Prospecting Dragon Isles ore, five pieces at a time, gives Jewelcrafters this and the other four common gems. Serevite Ore, mined everywhere on the isles, is what the Jewelcrafting guide prospects.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Any quality rank will do. The guide's list says 3, but its steps use 4: two for Crafty Queen's Ruby and two for the Revitalizing Red Carvings.
  • Salvage Dragon Isles Prospecting, Dragon Isles A common gem from prospecting Dragon Isles ore, which Jewelcrafters do five pieces at a time. The Jewelcrafting guide uses Serevite Ore, found in deposits across the isles.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Any quality rank will do. The guide needs 4: two for Sensei's Sundered Onyx, one for the Pendant of Impending Perils and one for the Sundered Onyx Loupe.
  • Salvage Dragon Isles Prospecting, Dragon Isles Jewelcrafters find it among the common gems when they prospect Dragon Isles ore in fives. Serevite Ore, the isles' everyday ore, is what the Jewelcrafting guide prospects.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Any quality rank will do. The guide needs just 2, for one Energized Vibrant Emerald.
  • Salvage Dragon Isles Prospecting, Dragon Isles Jewelcrafters get it by prospecting Dragon Isles ore, five pieces a go; the Dragonflight Jewelcrafting guide uses Serevite Ore for it.
Needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy.
  • Salvage Dragon Isles Crushing, Dragon Isles Jewelcrafters crush Dragon Isles gems into it, three gems a cast, so feed it the cheap common gems that prospecting Serevite Ore turns up; the guide's first crush uses Eternity Amber.
Crushing needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. Any quality rank will do. The guide wants 70, 60 of them for Blotting Sand; its steps come to 66 with the one Frameless Lens it makes, or 72 if you make all four lenses that the Bold-Print Bifocals and Sundered Onyx Loupe call for.
  • Farm Brinetooth camp, The Azure Span Every mob that drops Tattered Wildercloth can drop Wildercloth too, only much less often, so work the same tight Brinetooth camp in pulls of seven or eight.
Farm Tower of Ishkdormi, The Azure Span The dragonkin around the tower, next door to the Brinetooth camp, are the second spot; round up five or six at a time.
It comes alongside Tattered Wildercloth at a much lower rate, so one long farm fills both. Easy to buy, too.
  • 29 × Nozdorite
Salvage Dragon Isles Prospecting, Dragon Isles One of the five rare gems that prospecting Dragon Isles ore gives now and then, among far more of the common green ones. Mine Serevite or Draconium anywhere on the isles and prospect it by the stack.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. That Draconium, the scarcer ore, gives rare gems more often than Serevite is from game knowledge. The guide wants 29: four for one of each Nozdorite cut and 25 for Jagged Nozdorite from 55 to 75, plus 25 more only if you take its alternative to Blotting Sand. Each Elemental Harmony you make yourself takes one more.
  • Craft Rousing Fire from the Provoking Flames, The Waking Shore Ten Rousing Fire turn into one Awakened Fire from the bags, no profession needed. The Provoking Flames hyperspawn, mixed with Tormented Steam that gives Rousing Frost, so pull everything and keep AoEing. From 10 × Rousing Fire (no profession).
Craft Rousing Fire from the lava pit's Ashen Sparks and Destructive Flames, The Waking Shore Circle the small lava pit killing every fire elemental; the little ones drop Rousing Earth as well. From 10 × Rousing Fire (no profession).
Molten ore deposits give a few Rousing Fire to miners, and an Awakened Fire splits back into ten Rousing. Jewelcrafting lists 24, for Jagged Nozdorite, and Alchemy 20, mostly for Writhefire Oil; a blacksmith smelting Primal Molten Alloy uses one per smelt. Easy to buy, too.
  • Craft Rousing Air from the Unleashed Storms, Ohn'ahran Plains Ten Rousing Air turn into one Awakened Air from the bags, no profession needed. The storms are the best Rousing Air source but only appear while the Wind Breaker world quest is up; skip the small neutral mobs, which drop nothing. From 10 × Rousing Air (no profession).
Craft Rousing Air from the Restless Winds and Restless Gales, The Azure Span Air elementals there at any time, for when the world quest is down; round them up and AoE them. From 10 × Rousing Air (no profession).
Inscription needs 25, so 250 Rousing Air; Alchemy and Jewelcrafting need just one each, which is quicker to buy, and easy. Alchemists can also transmute one from an Awakened Frost and an Awakened Fire, as the Alchemy guide does at 15. An Awakened Air splits back into ten Rousing.
  • Craft Rousing Earth from the cave of earth elementals patrolled by Cindershard Hulks, The Waking Shore Ten Rousing Earth turn into one Awakened Earth from the bags, no profession needed. Every mob in this cave can drop Rousing Earth, so a max-level character simply clears the whole cave, Hulks and all. From 10 × Rousing Earth (no profession).
Craft Rousing Earth from the Unsettled Rubble and Displaced Earth, The Waking Shore A camp thick with small earth elementals that come back quickly, though spread out enough to need some running between pulls. From 10 × Rousing Earth (no profession).
Hardened ore deposits give a few Rousing Earth to miners. Alchemy and Jewelcrafting need just one each, for a Primal Convergent and a Puissant Nozdorite, so buying it is quickest, which is easy; a blacksmith smelting Primal Molten Alloy uses one per smelt. The farming guide does not name the cave.
  • Craft Rousing Frost from the Calving Elementals by Camp Antonidas, The Azure Span Ten Rousing Frost turn into one Awakened Frost from the bags, no profession needed, so farm the Rousing: the Calving Elementals around the icy lake hyperspawn, so pull everything and keep AoEing. From 10 × Rousing Frost (no profession).
Craft Rousing Frost from the Tormented Steam, The Waking Shore The other hyperspawning Rousing Frost spot; the Provoking Flames fighting them there give Rousing Fire, which the same recipes often want. From 10 × Rousing Frost (no profession).
An Awakened Frost also splits back into ten Rousing. Alchemy needs 34, so 340 Rousing Frost, nearly all for fifteen Phials of Tepid Versatility at 26 to 35; Inscription needs 3, for Cosmic Ink, and Jewelcrafting 1. Easy to buy, too.
  • 9 × Ysemerald
Salvage Dragon Isles Prospecting, Dragon Isles A rare gem that turns up now and then when Jewelcrafters prospect Dragon Isles ore, in among the common green gems. Mine Serevite or Draconium across the isles and prospect the lot.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. That Draconium gives rare gems more often than Serevite is from game knowledge. The guide wants 9, for its nine Signets of Titanic Insight from 75 to 100; each Elemental Harmony you make yourself takes one more.
  • Craft Jewelcrafting recipe from the Dragon Isles trainers, Dragon Isles A jewelcrafter joins one Primal Convergent, an alchemist's reagent, with one each of the five rare Dragon Isles gems, all of which come from prospecting Dragon Isles ore. From 1 × Primal Convergent, 1 × Alexstraszite, 1 × Malygite, 1 × Ysemerald, 1 × Neltharite, 1 × Nozdorite (Jewelcrafting).
The recipe is taught by the Dragon Isles jewelcrafting trainers or by Design: Elemental Harmony, and the craft needs Jeweler's Tools. Alchemists make Primal Convergent from one each of Awakened Earth, Fire, Air, Frost and Order. The guide buys 9, one for each Signet of Titanic Insight; making them yourself costs nine Ysemerald and nine Nozdorite on top of those its list asks for. Easy to buy, too.

  • 270 × Bismuth
Gather Mining loops, Isle of Dorn, The Ringing Deeps, Azj-Kahet or Hallowfall Mining. The commonest metal in Khaz Algar, found across all four zones, so any of the mining guide's loops fills bags; its author used the long loop round the edge of the Isle of Dorn most. Rich deposits give extra ore.
Needs Mining; a Phial of Truesight shows camouflaged deposits, about a fifth more. That it is found everywhere is from the Mining specialization's own description of it; the guide does not rank the zones. Any quality rank will do; the guides say quality does not matter. Blacksmithing needs 565, 480 of them for Core Alloy; Jewelcrafting 270, 145 of them to prospect; Engineering 260, 180 of them for Handfuls of Bismuth Bolts. Easy to buy, too.
  • Salvage Algari Prospecting, Khaz Algar Jewelcrafters prospect Khaz Algar ore; Glittering Glass and Handful of Pebbles are what comes out most often, and since a hotfix every prospect gives some. Plain Bismuth, the commonest ore, will do, and the guide itself prospects 145 Bismuth at 1–15.
Needs Jewelcrafting, with Mining to gather the ore yourself. Wowhead also lists it as sold by NPCs in Dornogal, the City of Threads and Undermine, but no source here names the vendors. The Jewelcrafting guide's list says 35, but its steps use 44: 2 for Engraved Gemcutters, 12 for Gilded Vials and 30 for Decorative Lenses. Easy to buy, too.
  • Salvage Algari Crushing, Khaz Algar Jewelcrafters crush Khaz Algar gems three at a time into this dust. Ambivalent Amber, the cheap uncommon gem, is the one to crush: prospecting Bismuth turns it up, and re-prospecting the Handfuls of Pebbles that ore gives always yields one.
Needs Jewelcrafting, and Mining helps for the ore. A Jewelcrafting Bag raises the most one crush can give by one. The Jewelcrafting guide needs 108, 68 of them for its seventeen Right-Handed Magnifying Glasses at 41–55; the Blasphemite gems, one of its ways from 55 to 100, take 360 more. Easy to buy, too.
  • Salvage Prospecting Bismuth, Isle of Dorn, The Ringing Deeps, Azj-Kahet or Hallowfall Jewelcrafting. The one common War Within gem, and the only one plain Bismuth gives, so prospect the Bismuth you mine anywhere in Khaz Algar. Aqirite, Ironclaw Ore and Null Stone give it too, beside their rarer gems.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it. Prospecting mostly gives Glittering Glass and Handful of Pebbles, and gems only now and then until you put points into Shaping; better-quality ore gives more gems. The Jewelcrafting guide's 145 prospected Bismuth at 1–15 bring some in. The guide wants 17: four gem cuts, two Gilded Vials, three Decorative Lenses, the Malleable Band and Pendant, and the Incanter's Shard. Easy to buy, too.
  • Disenchant War Within dungeons, Khaz Algar Rare (blue) War Within gear disenchants into it. A max-level character runs through the Khaz Algar dungeons on Normal in a few minutes each and breaks down every blue the bosses drop.
Disenchanting needs Enchanting; anyone else should buy it, which is easy. That blue War Within gear gives it, and that the dungeons are the place for that gear, is from game knowledge; Wowhead says only that it is looted. The Enchanting guide needs 26, 25 of them for the five weapon enchants at 70–80, and the Authority enchants at 91–100 take 30 more; Jewelcrafting needs 1, for an Incanter's Shard.
  • Salvage Prospecting Ironclaw Ore, Isle of Dorn Jewelcrafting. One of the rare War Within gems; of the ores, only Ironclaw gives it, beside Ambivalent Amber and Ostentatious Onyx. Ironclaw is mostly near the surface, so mine it on the Isle of Dorn.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it. Null Stone, a rarer find, also gives it. Rare gems come seldom until you put points into Shaping and its Ruby specialization, which also lets other ores give rubies; better-quality ore gives more gems. The Jewelcrafting guide wants 2, for the Radiant Loupes and the Malleable Band. Easy to buy, too.
  • Salvage Prospecting Aqirite, Azj-Kahet Jewelcrafting. One of the rare War Within gems; of the ores, only Aqirite gives it, beside Ambivalent Amber and Extravagant Emerald. Aqirite is commonest towards Azj-Kahet, so mine it there.
Prospecting needs Jewelcrafting; anyone else should buy it. Null Stone, a rarer find, also gives it. Rare gems come seldom until you put points into Shaping and its Sapphire specialization, which also lets other ores give sapphires; better-quality ore gives more gems. The Jewelcrafting guide wants just 1, for the Malleable Pendant. Easy to buy, too.
  • Craft Jewelcrafting, Khaz Algar Jewelcrafters make it from prospecting leftovers and an amber; the War Within guide makes three at 26 to 31 and has you buy the other 17. From 10 × Glittering Glass, 2 × Ambivalent Amber, 4 × Crushed Gemstones (Jewelcrafting).
Only Jewelcrafters make it; anyone else should buy it. The amounts per lens are the guide's figures for three divided by three. The 17 on the list go into 17 Right-Handed Magnifying Glasses at 41 to 55; the three you craft go into Storyteller's Glasses and the first Magnifying Glass. Easy to buy, too.
